The Sunpak LED Macro Ring Light is a powerful, versatile LED ring light that has been specially designed for macro photography. Equipped with 12 high powered bright white LEDs, it features a variable power switch to quickly and easily optimize the light output.
A larger inner 67mm diameter makes the light compatible with most SLR lenses. The light mounts to the cameras hotshoe, and the bendable arm allows you to move the LEDs into the correct position.

If you're thinking abot using this like a real Macro ring light like you see in CSI, well then that depends on your lens size. The max lens that I can put this light around is 58mm. Unfortunately my two macro lenses are 72 and 77 mm respectively, so this light doesn't fit "around" them. It does sit firmly in front however, and since most of my macro shooting is center focus I don't really lose anything around the periphery. It's also very handy as an all-around portable light source, which is really what I'd classify this as...unless you have a small macro lens...
I also like the low and high light settings; reduces some harsh glare...

I use this LED Macro Ring Light by Sunpack attached to my 100mm macro (Canon) to light up objects/tiny subject while taking a shot at them. The idea is super but the execution is a bit weak. The biggest problem I have is that it doesn't attach to the lens and I have jet been able to put it on the lens such that it actually stays on. Although it has the flexible arm and it "sort of" stays on, it is not firmly attached and can--if not careful--be creaping into your picture! So be aware!
The second problem I have is not being able to point the light exactly to where I want it to. The LED is a great idea, since they produce white (nature-sun-like) light but since they are in the circle around the lens tip, they are not actually lighting up the object but its surroundings! This is not desired.
Hence, my solution so far has been to not even try to attach the ring to my lens but use the arm to move the ring to light up the object more directly. Of course, then the size of the circle means that much of the lighting power still does not light up the macro-subject but at least some do.

This is a great little ring light for macro photography to get that bit of extra light to shine on the centre of a flower and make your image 'pop' .

For macro, it can hardly be beat. It's a bit tricky to keep on the lens the way the cable/suspension works but for fixed use, it's great.

This was available locally, but for more than twice the cost ( in Canada) . Not only did I like the price but I like the product very much. I am a jeweller and the light is perfectly suited for photographing my work. I use it with my macro lens and it gives extra (but not too much) sparkle to my jewellery.
I'm using the Sunpak to upgrade the photos on my website. I don't have anything negative to say about it. It's one of those cases where you don't have to put out a lot of money to get a very decent product.

Comments about Sunpak LED Macro Ring Light:
Very simple design. Easy to use. Not the brightest or best color light but I'm not the average LED fan. I hate LED and wish they went away but they wont and they make things cheaper so I guess I have to get used to it. I bought this to take close shots of objects and it lets me do it for a price that was right.

Comments about Sunpak LED Macro Ring Light:
a good idea for close up and macro shots, but in practice its hard to use because of the exact diameter. said to fit up to 77mm., it should be wider than 77 mm. so it would fit 'around' the lens, not 'in front'. so what i did, i am trying to widen its diameter over 77 mm. with sand paper since a week . now it works...

It's good for objects for e bay, no shadows etc. Not for portraits unless it's a dark place and high iso. perhaps as fill but haven't tried. The light is even but you can play with it as you like.

Simply handle available light for video head shot, or small still photoshot, but Not strong light power. This is good for emergency light or a lot of easier than heavy battery pack for video light system.

Comments about Sunpak LED Macro Ring Light:
I bought this ringlight to use for macro video.
The light is just too weak, providing only about 2 stop more light over natural (weak) light. This is usually not enough for macro.
On the plus side, it is lightweight and versatile thanks to its long connection.

Inexpensive, just enough light to make a difference; not the most powerful ring light in the box, but works great for flower pics.

Comments about Sunpak LED Macro Ring Light:
I first used this ring light when photographing an animal skeleton that was being built in our anatomy lab. It was much better at providing "task lighting" than my flash because the bones would have otherwise either been blown-out by the flash or there would have been deep shadows from bouncing the flash off the ceiling.
That said, it's not a very powerful light, so I doubt it could be used as a primary light source in almost any case. I also had a little trouble using it with my particular lens because the thread size of my lens is the same as the opening on the ring flash, and I had to position the flash "just so" to avoid vignetting in the corners of the frame.
I think it will be incredibly useful as a fill light when I'm shooting macro outdoors (or indoors with other room lighting) - esp. since my macro lens should fit nicely inside the opening of the ring flash.
Overall, for the price, it's a very handy and useful fill light. Super-lightweight, always-on so you can see what you're getting, and it takes AAA batteries which are easy to come by.

I use this as Macro photography, for a close shot it is ok and handy, just enough to light up the subject (at high). For a longer distant, the light is not enough even at high.
Generally it is a good product, and cheap too.

I'd been looking for a low-cost solution for close-up lighting for some time. A friend had found one of these and showed it around at our local photo club at our last meeting and I think there must have been 10 orders from Tucson that day. It's a great solution for macro shots..puts out a fair amount of light and the gooseneck setup makes it possible to move the light source to the side or even under the subject. That's hard to do with a full-blown ring-flash ... and for less than $40 this unit is a great buy.

Comments about Sunpak LED Macro Ring Light:
This ring light works just as advertised. I use it for macro shooting and have only used it a few times, but it works pretty good. The camera doesn't seem to see LED light as brilliant as the eye does, so keep that in mind when shooting with it. I have used it laying on the table more than mounted on the camera. It manipulates well to stand alone on end standing on a table. I gave the product 4 stars based on "you get what you pay for" it is definately worth the money.

"How simple" and "how inexpensive" to acheive a ring light for close up and macro..turn on..bright/brighter..turn off and swing away..it couldn't be easier and the price was right.

Comments about Sunpak LED Macro Ring Light:
I use the light to prevent shadowing when taking indoor macro shots. It's not quite as bright as I hoped, I think the slider between low and high light is a little unnecessary, as I'll almost certainly always use it on high. The directions say not to twist the flexible wire that connects the mount to the ring light, but as I attach/takeoff/stow the ring light, I'm often unsure which way to bend it so that it's not twisted. Hopefully I don't end up damaging it by going around too many times in one direction, since I have to frequently pack and unpack the ring light in the space limited by my camera bag.
With these caveats, the product does work as advertised, and was a reasonable price and a light weight compared to other available ring lights. It also should easily fit around the lens of any camera with the flexible extension, though I suppose very wide lenses could be problematic (I have an autofocus lens, so it is fairly wide).
