Comments about Olympus VF-1 Viewfinder f/ 17mm F2.8 Micro Four Thirds Lens:
It perfectly substitutes a more expensive Leica X1 brightline finder if you can't afford to pay for the latter.
Good for shooting in the conditions of extremely bright sun light. In other conditions X1's display does the job.

Comments about Olympus VF-1 Viewfinder f/ 17mm F2.8 Micro Four Thirds Lens:
It works good on the 17mm lens it was designed for but doesn't help much on any other focal length lenses which makes it a bit pricy for it's range of use.

Comments about Olympus VF-1 Viewfinder f/ 17mm F2.8 Micro Four Thirds Lens:
If you are in a consistent light setting and have made all the adjustments, you can shut down the LCD screen and use the Optical VF-1. Works great for quick shots. It also helps in bright sunlight when the LCD is washed out. And if you are like me and have been using an optical viewfinder for many years, it just feels more natural than holding up the camera to view the LCD.
One drawback would be manual focus, but this isn't meant for that.

Comments about Olympus VF-1 Viewfinder f/ 17mm F2.8 Micro Four Thirds Lens:
I ordered the optical VF-1 because the EVF (VF-2) was on back-order[...] but I'm glad to have both. The VF-1 is the almost perfect partner to the 17 mm prime lens - it's light, bright, has excellent eye relief (not specified) and makes the E-P2 a perfect street camera.

Used when sunlight prevents use of LCD on my Olympus EPL-1! This attachment is very handy. It's a bit expensive for what you get!

Comments about Olympus VF-1 Viewfinder f/ 17mm F2.8 Micro Four Thirds Lens:
This works perfectly with Panasonic's 20mm lens. It makes it easy to shoot quickly and is also helpful in bright sunlit conditions. Very retro and cool too. I wish it locked onto the flash attachment somehow, but it is still not easy to knock off accidentally. Recommended.
