I'm fairly new to the world of Strobing and off camera flash since I've always been a strictly ambient light type of photographer using reflectors and such. Since purchasing an SB-900 a year ago I was basically hooked on "flash"!! I love to shoot outdoor portraits especially against sunsets. The SB-900 was great at filling in my subjects, but I needed to use it at full power. I only used the diffusor the speed light shipped with so the lighting was less than pleasing to me. A couple of my photog buddies recommended Alien Bees but there was just too many components I needed to purchase, and not to mention the company's only option to ship to Guam (US Territory) was UPS International (Uber expensive!!) I looked online on You Tube and watched a video from Joe Mcnally, and boom!! I was sold on the Quadra System!! Get a Rotalux Softbox and you'll won't be disappointed.

The Ranger Quadra is a fairly lightweight unit that delivers the right amount of power needed to shoot under just about any lighting condition. No longer do you have to worry about having to deal bright sun as this unit easily gives enough power to properly expose your subject in direct sunlight. With the reflector adapter, you have the ability to use many of the light modifiers that Elinchrom has to offer, providing a beautiful light source to your subjects. I now have the ability to create great portraits outdoors that I could only accomplish in the studio. I couldn't be more satified with the results I am getting with this unit!

I bought this system for a series of outdoor shoots I had scheduled. I am use to the Elinchrom quality from the use of my three RX-600s but needed something a lot more portable for outdoor work.

When I received this kit I was somewhat concerned at the durability of this since it is so light. But once I connected the battery pack to the power pack and started shooting I was blown away at the consistency and power of the tiny flash heads. There were even some situations when this light was able to overpower the sun when I shot a completely back-lit portrait.

I have only had to use this at full power on a couple of occasions because the light is so strong and even. Couple this with the 39" Deep Octa and you will have a system that can work in almost any situation.

The only drawback to this system is that way the battery attaches. Please make sure it is securely connected as the connectors are plastic and seem a little frail. As long as you take the time to make sure this is done then you won't have a problem using this incredible system.

I shot a lot in the studio and wanted to expand my work for my clients so I bought this system to be able to shoot outdoors. This set, along with the Elinchrom Deep Octa, produces amazing, soft, even lighting. Furthermore, I do a lot of shooting at the lowest W/S settings. At that setting the pack lasts over 3 hours and recycles in no time.

This was a great investment and now gets me out of the studio to offer more services to my clients. If you are looking for something to make you a more versatile photographer then you NNED to get this system.
