The Nikon CoolPix S1000pj is the world's first digicam containing a built-in projector, which is capable of projecting captured images up to 40" across at distances of up to 5.5'. Featuring a 12.1-megapixel CCD and a 5x (28-140mm equivalent) zoom lens, the CoolPix S1000pj can capture broad landscapes or tight portraits with equal ease, and print them at sizes up to 16x20".
Stills and video imagery can be composed, reviewed, and edited on the camera's 2.7" TFT LCD, which uses anti-glare coatings and an adjustment slider for optimizing image brightness to compliment the ambient lighting conditions. To better ensure sharp images, the S1000pj utilizes a 5-Way VR stabilization system that combines multiple technologies to smooth the bumps when shooting under lower lighting conditions or in places where you cannot use flash.
For optimum portraits, Nikon's Smart Portrait System utilizes Skin Softening filters (3 levels of adjustment), in-camera Red-eye Reduction, Face-Priority AF, D-Lighting, a Smile Timer, and a combination Blink warning / Blink Reduction system that better guarantees happy, blink-free portraiture.
Other noteworthy features found on the Nikon CoolPix S1000pj include Quick Retouch, which works with the D-Lighting function to optimize shadow and highlight detail, 16 Scene modes, video capture, and macro shooting down to 1.2" from the front lens element.

The camera design is compact, easy to use and photos and video are very good. The projector surprises people, and it is amusing. Uses lots of battery power. Nice if it came with external power source for projected slideshows. Not for business presentations, but fun for family and friends.

This camera worked great for my trip to S.E. Asia, gathered family and friends around to see the pictures and worked good during the daytime. Of course would be better in darker settings. Other than what has already been said, the view finder was the biggest thing I missed, but new this before I purchased it, so not really a problem. It worked just fine considering it is a point and shoot. I have a Rebel T1i for my other pics. Oh, and I was the first around the block to have this. :)

I was pleasantly surprised by the Nikon CoolPix s1000PJ.
The projection feature performs better than I expected. I wanted a simple point and shoot that I could use to share photos with small groups of people on my travels. The projector performs reasonably well in low light conditions. I have also used the camera as a business tool by converting slides to JPG and using the projector as a quick & portable presentation tool.
The camera features of the camera are what you would expect from Nikon. It is a great all around point and shoot.

Wanted a Nikon small and useful for having with me for those times when I don't have my Nikon D300 with me. Saw this new Nikon Coolpix with the projector and thought wow, how neat for sharing the photos.. Very disappointed in the LCD viewer and lack of view finder hard to hold for framing and color in the photo looked off.when viewed on LCD. The projector has to truly be used in pitch darknest to have a great photo and even so looked grainy. I have since returned the camera and will continue to seek one that works better for me.
