The Fujifilm FinePix J38 packs a punch with a 12 Megapixel CCD, a 3x Fujinon optical zoom lens and a brilliant 2.7" high resolution LCD which displays images with sharpness and clarity. The J38 is loaded with features designed to make picture taking easy so users can concentrate on their subjects and less on camera setting. The user gets high quality, crisp and clear photos which can be enlarged, printed, e-mailed or put into creative projects.
A key feature of the J38 is Automatic Scene Recognition, in which framed scenes are automatically detected and selected into appropriate camera settings: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, Night Portrait, and Backlit Portrait.
Additionally, the J38 has modes for most any situation including: Baby, Anti-blur, Portrait, Landscape, Panorama, Sport, Night, Night (Tripod), Natural Light, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, Sunset, Flower, Party, Text, Movie and Manual.
With a profile of only 0.8" (20mm) thick and 3.6" (92mm) wide, the FinePix J38 is the perfect on-the-go camera fitting easily into a shirt pocket or handbag.

Bought this camera for my 11 year old niece. She finds it very easy to use and even read the manual for info on video and camera timer. Picture quality is great on the screen AND when transferred to computer. We didn't print any pictures, so I can't offer any info about quality on paper.
Battery life is great- she used the camera non-stop for days before needing to recharge the battery.
I'm impressed that the camera works well for little hands and that it is easy to use right out of the box. This is not a case of a child being more technically aware than the adults, so the camera is definitely special!

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix J38 Digital Camera (Black):
I use this camera for pretty much everything now. It reacts very quickly. It doesn't take forever to focus, like most other cameras, even in low light. The panorama feature is very cool. It comes with very minimal instructions, but the buttons are pretty intuitive and I haven't had any problems. Image quality has been great for candid shots (indoor and outdoor) and taking pictures of products for selling online. The auto function works surprisingly well, even for a pretty critical photographer like me. It is super slim but still quite sturdy. The only complaint might be that the screen is scratched pretty easily, though that could be said about pretty much all pocket point-and-shoots... and I don't have a protective case or cover for it. Image quality with the zoom can get a little noisy at its max. All in all, this is an AMAZING deal and I really couldn't be happier.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix J38 Digital Camera (Black):
Takes great pictures. Auto mode works great for people like me that just like to point and shoot. I also like the video mode - the quality is pretty good. The camera is small, light and easy to access (important when I'm hiking.) I would have given it a 5 star if the video was a notch better, but for the price it's perfect.

I looked for these locally but didnt find what I wanted at the best price... So I found this option and it was about $15 cheaper then the store. It is a good portable camera that has great resolution, and video, but no zoom on the video mode:(

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix J38 Digital Camera (Black):
This is a good quality point and shoot digital for less than $100. It's small, has a rechargeable battery, and looks pretty good. The response time is fairly quick, and picture quality is good as well. I haven't had the best luck with night time and low light shots, but that's nothing unique to this camera.
Comments about Fujifilm FinePix J38 Digital Camera (Black):
The camera takes good quality picture and very affordable. I would recommend a friend to get it.
Comments about Fujifilm FinePix J38 Digital Camera (Black):
I bought this camera fro a trip, as my day to day camera is a Canon IS series and it's too big to carry around in certain situations.
Overall the camera is good for point and shoot, it does it's job.
However, pictures in low light condition, without flash (even in auto mode) are not perfect, there is noticeable amount of noise.
What is the lowest point in this product is the display, even is it's bright and clear indoors, the contrast is very bad, so taking pictures outside is sometimes a guess game.

I've been really happy with our Fuji. We've had nothing but great results with it. Fast, great pictures, and a great price. We've had Sonys before and are glad we made this choice.

this camera is great for all types of situations. i had a finepix camera a few years ago and chose this one because it takes pics quickly for those moments when you only have seconds to turn it on and snap. it also has a large screen. i especially like how easy it is to use. i would even recommend it to my 80 year old grandparents. it has auto, scene recognition, and other modes like panarama, party, and manual (plus more).at [$], this is a great value. other 12.2 megapixel cameras go for much more.

This camera is very easy to use with a brief manual. It's lightweight, small, and fits easily in a purse. The pictures are crisp and sharp with a realistic color balance. So far I haven't had any problems with it. I would note that for Macs, you just have to plug it in to the computer and turn it on, as it doesn't come with a Mac cd-rom program to help you set up/upload pics.

The J38 combines the same well-refined control interface used in the earlier J10 and J20 cameras with more resolution. These cameras are really simple to use - a novice can make good photos easilly. Fuji packs a real bargain with good optics and sensor into a well thought out small package. Great for earning Christmas smiles!
