Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in is an absolutely amazing tool.
I use it as a plug-in for Aperture 3 - everything works smooth. On the beginning I was thinking about Color Efex Pro 3.0 And Silver Efex Pro 2 only but I decided to buy all collection. It was a good choice: I saved a lot of money and now I`m using all filters almost every day.
What is inside:
The Define 2.0 is really powerful noise redactor (works much better then DxO Optics Pro noise reduction - Define saves much more details and tonal changes).
Define offers 4 ways to reduct noise:
- automatically
- manually
- using control points
- based on individual color ranges
I like to use Define only when I`m shooting with really high ISO settings.
Usually I`m using noise reduction built-in my camera. This is the best compromise for me between loosing details and noise reducing.
Viveza 2 offers many creative enhancement sliders: shadow adjustment, structure, contrast, saturation etc. Also levels and curves.
You can change your pictures globally or through control points.
HDR Efex Pro is complete all-in-one HDR imaging tool. There is a lot of presets to use and a lot options to change. I`m not a big fan HDR photography - I used this plugin few times to see how it works. I like it.
In Color Efex Pro 3.0 you can choose between 52 creative filters.
Bunch of my favorites:
- polarization
- cross processing
- darken/lighten center
- graduated neutral density
- pro contrast
- film effects
- grain effects
You will find a lot of options - every filter can be modified as you like.
Silver Efex Pro 2 in my opinion it`s the best part of this collection. I`m mostly B&W photographer and I have been using previous version of Silver Efex Pro which was awesome. 2nd edition is even better!
What is new:
Enhancement sliders:
- Highlight, Midtone, Shadow Brightness control
- Amplify Blacks and Amplify Whites controls
- Highlight, Midtone, and Shadow Structure control
- Fine Structure control (very useful!)
- Selective Colorization
and my favorite:
- Dynamic Brightness control
- Soft Contrast control
Last two controllers are really powerful and gives great effects! - you should try, you will know what I`m talking about.
Changes you can apply globally or through control points.
I found also some new Vignette, Burn Edges, Image Borders effects.
Nik also improved interface and interactions controls.
Now you can also use History Browser.
SEP 2 is the best B&W imaging solution I`ve ever used!
Sharpener Pro 3.0 offers two kinds of sharpening tools:
- RAW Presharpener (applies a small amount of sharpening right after converting RAW file - you can change amount of Adaptive Sharpening. You can choose image quality between Normal and High ISO).
- Output Sharpener. Thanks to this filter you can prepare your pictures for the output device of your choice. I created few presets for my photos and it gives me amazing effects! Of course you can apply sharpening globally or through control points.
All collection is really easy to use. After one day of using you will know how it works.
If you are a serious photographer these filters are really for you. If you are an amateur or semi-pro you will learn a lot using this software. 5 stars it`s my rate!

I purchased the LightRoom version to add some tasks in the Develop module without using PhotoShop CS5. The install routine with LightRoom 3.3 just does not work. It does not allow each plug-in to work properly in "Edit in other applications". The install routine did not install each plug-in as a stand alone application. Although this is listed on the B&H site as a standard product, the packing list showed this item as special order and not returnable. Do not buy this product.

I use this with Lightroom 3, it is a great addition to my editing needs. HDR pro has a major glitch that NIK is currently working on right now.

I use this set as plug-ins with Aperture 3. Everything is right at your finger tips.In the package you receive 2 disc, one with all the programs and the second is a updated version of Color Efex Pro 4. To activate them you log in the numbers that came on the disc envelope.
What I like about them is they do what they say they will do.Control points is fantastic. B&H provides the best service peroid.

I bought this combo just for the Silver Efex. I got more for what I bargain for. Very happy and satisfied. Strongly recommend it. Now I even ignore the deal of lightroom at half price.

I absolutely love the creative possibilities with this software pack! Each one is unique but I love turning my photography into artwork! Most often great photography stands alone, but sometimes it can use a little something special and this software packs gives you so many options and lets you control your creativity within the software! I love it and love the pieces of artwork I have created using it!

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I can't stop using this program, I love Silver Efex and HDR Efex. I still need to learn more about Define and Sharpening but over all this program is wonderful. I did have a little bit of worry after loading it as the HDR doesn't show up in Lightroom under the same tab, it's not under the photo tab but in the file tab. Did I say I love this program?

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I am new to the Nik Software plug-ins and have been considering purchasing one or two of the plug-ins until I found a reference to the Complete Collection at B&H. Given the price of the collection, it was an easy decision to just buy the complete collection, so that I will be able to explore the capabilities on my own pace.
So far, I found HDR Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro 3.0, and especially Silver Efex Pro 2 to be the most useful plug-ins. The interface is very easy to use, and many included presets provide good starting points for the picture development.
The only cons found so far are related to the installation process. Some of the plug-ins did not find Lightroom and required manual configuration steps.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
Has a bit of a learning curve. The interfaces are not all that similar between applications so it gets a bit confusing when trying to learn them. Not sure the price is worth what you really get. Many of the actions are not so special that they can't be duplicated with using the brushes in Lightroom. These applications simply save you some time. I have not experimented with HDR yet so no opinion on that App.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I don't see a learning curve on any of the software in this collection. They are all straight-forward applications. The time I would normally spent in post processing is cut into half or even more. My creativeness in photography flows better knowing there is so much options i could used from beginning to end of my work flow.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I love all the programs that this set offers. As a serious non-pro photographer the Nik complete collection allows me to turn "good" photos into "outstanding" photos. Whether it's portraits or landscapes, the complete collection allows you to edit your photos quickly and easily. I really love how easy a color photo can be turned into a stunning monochrome that can be toned. The HDR makes merging photos with different exposures into a spectacular HDR image that makes people say "How'd you do that?!". I recommend this complete collection because it's creativity possibilities are endless and the price for all is a real bargain. If you were to pay for all of these individually, you would pay a lot more.
