The PRS600 Sony Reader Touch Edition (Black) is a svelte 6 inch touchscreen digital reading system that holds up to 350 books at once; and even more when the expansion card slots are utilized. Page turning is a breeze with the touch of your finger and highlighting and annotation is made simple with the included stylus. You'll also benefit from the easy-to-read E Ink Vizplex screen technology which looks more like a paper display and is readable even in direct sunlight.
A single charge, using the included USB cable (can be charged via optional AC adapter), powers the Reader for up to 7,500 page turns (BBeB Book). When it's time to recharge or transfer eBooks, the included USB 2.0 cable allows for both. Formats supported by the Reader Touch Edition include the industry standard formats of ePub and PDF. Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Digital Editions are all also compatible. The Reader also supports unsecured MP3 and AAC audio files for playback.
Other features include a built-in Oxford American English Dictionary, adjustable font sizes, and quick page turning for reading at a natural pace. And last but not least, Mac and PC compatibility make the Reader a solid choice for anyone looking to build a digital library that can go anywhere they go.

I was looking for high quality ebook for my wife and thought about Sony PRS 300 or PRS 600.
Finally i decided to bought PRS 600 because it's more powerful, have a larger screen size, easy touch navigation, ability to expand memory and mp3 player functions.
Few thing that i noticed after starting of using this product:
Design. Almost everyone who saw this ebook said that it looks very nice. It's unpretentious but beautiful. Those who like Sony products and their philosophy will be pleased.
Construction. Aluminum and other durable materials will provide long product live.
Usability. Big 6 inch screen, touch/stylus navigation and build in software are very easy to use and provide comfortable reading process. After 15 minutes of digging in menu and options my wife started carrying books from her laptop to the ebook. She says that likes reading with this ebook both along the way to work and at home.
Another useful options are 5 steps of font adjusting (Notice that Sony PRS 300 has only 3 steps) and built-in dictionary.
Screen Contrast. My friend has Sony PRS 300 and we compared screen contrast on both models. The screen quality is better on PRS 300, but on PRS 600 it also good. However I'll recommend to read books on this device under good light.
There are additional functions that let you use PRS 600 not only for reading books: You can use it as notepad, draw and save images with stylus, view photos.
Mp3 quality is very good. In addition with good headphones and memory card you can listen to music and read books at one time.
Final words:
Sony PRS 600 will be a right choice for those who like high quality devices with "all-in-one" functions and isn't afraid of touch navigation.

I am using this product for two weeks. The software is not good and is far from intuitive. Difficult to learn and use. It appears that it does not work as projected. I changed to Calibre, and I am getting a much better result. The battery is not as good as advertised, and it needs recharge each 2/3 days (I use it about 3 hours a day). If the MP3 feature is used, the battery will drain quickly and will need a daily recharge. Recharge with USB from computer is hard as you need a computer on, the battery is short life, and the unit cannot be used while being charged. I heard that this is possible with the wall or car chargers - if it is true, the wall charger is definitely a MUST. It should have been added to the package. The unit is hard to turn on sometimes, as the power button does not respond. Pages turn well both with the touch screen or buttons, but reading is not very easy as the unit is too small (I will buy a bigger one next time) and the screen is not very bright. Unfortunately, most of the e-books I have lack the pictures that should be there - this is a pity, we should be able to see the pictures in BW (not an unit deficiency, though). I am still trying to get acquainted with the gadget. Definitely is a big change from the normal reading habits. I am taking the reader out with me all the time, and have read it while traveling and in places like planes, lounges, cafes, etc. - very useful as we do not have to carry heavy books. I have a bunch of technical reports an presentations that a can now read without printouts, and this is great!!!I could not work well with bookmarks and notes - tried, but it did not work in a feasible way yet. Also, the user should be able to replace the preloaded dictionaries. I hope better models are coming soon - there should be one with internet access, power point and excel viewers, etc. And a much much better software! And, of course, COLORS!!! I do not think Sony did it this time. I would have bought the Kindle if it were able to read *.pdfs without DRM restrictions. I would have bought Nook if it were able to read Word. I did not find any reasonable e-reader model up to now. I do not think I would buy a Sony next time. Good luck for all!

This is a great product. I am an avid reader and have run out of space to add yet another bookshelf, so this little toy allows me to keep on with my passion of reading, only now I can travel with many books and can buy as many books as I like. Thx B&H for the great price - I specifically waited knowing that I was visiting NY from Toronto to buy this reader. We actually got 2 readers, my wife got th pocket editon.

Only been using the PRS600 for about a week but I am very pleased. Easy to operate (I would recommend Calibre as the interface) and very easy to use. Happy with the text quality and the ease of reading.
Only observation I would make is that for a wide e-reading experience I think a colour screen will become essential. While I am very happy with books, if I download a magazine I just don't get the same experience in monochrome. Not a big issue at this stage as the primary use is books but in the longer run I would hope to access newspapers and magazines a great deal more.
All in all though, very pleased at this stage in my experience. Would highly recommend.

I ordered PRS 600 for my mothrer-in-law, but when I received it, I wanted it myself. I had a reader by Onyx, but PRS 600 is much better in quality and exterior. To my surprise it supports european languages (for me italian symbols are very important). The only cons is that this device has only english dictionaries, it will be better to have in PRS 600 italian, french, german and other dictionaries. Now I will take this device for me and I am going to order two others for my son and my mother-in-law. [...] Thank you B&H!

I have bought this e-book to present its to the father on his birthday - to relieve it of necessity to drag with itself in business trips and rest of a pack of paper books. At first it has concerned with suspicion this innovation, as to it almost 60 years. But then it was so involved in process of reading from the e-book that any more does not represent the leisure without it. An excellent thing, a worthy gift to parents and to itself.

This is what I need from a book reader:- reasonable price. When I buy, the price was only around [$]. The price is a fee difference only with Nook (149USD) and Kindle (189USD)- Easy to use. With it's touch screen, I can easily navigate and make notes. - Handy. The size is perfect, light and easy to bring. So I can read wherever I want- Memory slot help me to copy files and expand the capacity.- PDF support. I have many books in pdf format. They are rendered very nice in this reader. However, when I increase the font size, sometimes the pages (especially with pictures) are not showed correctly. But, it's very rareCons:- On Screen keyboard is not so responsive- Battery life

Comments about Sony PRS600 Reader Touch Edition (Black):
I looked hard at many ereaders before choosing this one. My motivations for the choice included that the Sony runs a stable Linux OS, is compatible with every file format I need to use, is not hindered by too-abundant DRM or proprietary file format restrictions, and is outwardly aesthetic to me with its metal case, stylus, and few buttons.
I've read a ton on it already and am very pleased. I'm able to manage my library in several ways: using Sony's own library software, using 3rd party Calibre (which interfaces very well with this unit), or manually by simply moving files between devices or the memory card I use with this reader. The Sony reader is good about finding what I give it, and I've had no hitch so far.
Battery life is great. Fonts are clear. Note-taking and collections-managing features are useful. I like the touch screen for navigation, and though it's a bit frivolous to say so, I do like it as an alternative to button-pushing to turn pages. It's a luxury to be able to hold the thing in any number of ways and simply flip a finger anywhere on the screen to turn pages.
All in all, I'm entirely satisfied. I'd recommend this unit over its several competitors, to anyone who appreciates the ability to self-manage and choose file formats, and anyone who likes a sturdy metal product over a member of the more popular white plastic majority.

Good battery life - note I had some trouble originally getting it to charge and it kept
saying low battery however after the second charge the reader lasted a week before showing low battery.
The e ink screen means the screen flashes black with every page turn and menu selection. It is good to be aware of this before you buy as it may annoy some people. I believe that all e ink screens on readers do this though.
Good internal space capacity. I was able to load over 100 books and still have space to spare.
Doesn't come with a power charger which I would prefer in addition to the USB charger.
Good ability to write notes and memos

A solid, well constructed reader that is easy to use and intuitive in it's controls.
Has a feel of durability with solid controls.
Reflection off the screen can be disconcerting in certain lighting situations but is clear and easy to read from almost all angles so this can be minimised.
