We bought this camera for our daughter's birthday. She likes it and that is most important.
The image quality is good: compared to my much more expensive Canon G11 the difference is not too big. And it even has a wider angle (24mm) and HD video.

Mainly just use this for snapshots and something that fits in a pocket. when i am serious i shoot with my D90. The wide lens is a big advantage and unusual in this category of camera, i selected this one specificially for this feature. the screen is a bit smaller than i would like, however not a deal breaker. Simple menus, easy to use. I like it

I have never been able to get my wife to use our Digital SLR because she is intimidated by it. Then I found out about this Canon "point and shoot" camera. It met her criteria: small enough to fit in her purse and not add material weight to it; easy to use; not intimidating to use. It also met my criteria for a camera for her: good optical zoom range, enough megapixels to crop and enlarge her best photos; easy enough to use that she would actually use it and at the same time have the capability of using other picture control features onece she got comfortable with the AUTO setting; have a nice size and easy to see LCD screen; take good photos. It has accomplished all of the above. She loves the camera, uses it all the time, and finds it a perfect size and weight for her purse. In addition, we have both been very satisfied by the color, sharpness, and good focus on her photos. She has probably taken more photos with it in the last few weeks than she had taken in the last 10 years together.

I bought this for the wide angle and the video. The low light capabilities are pretty good and the battery is reasonable for a P&S. The interface is good and i'm glad the non photo functions are not part of the touch system. The image quality is very good and I mainly used it for social gatherings where the DSLR is not appropriate.
If the battery capacity was twice what it is this would be 4 stars instead of 3. Mind you i'm comparing it to a 1Dmk 3. Not quite apples with apples.
