This remote control has been a wonderful addition to my video tool kit. Its compact, durable and lightweight so its easy to carry around. As a blogger, who uses the camera to record interviews and other quick hit content I found the remote a valuable addition to start/stop recording while I'm in the shot. The only minor criticism I have is that the remote does not turn on/off the camera.

I use it with the Kodak ZX1 video camera (which is great). This remote is tiny, weather resistant and seems well constructed. The button layout and little icons are not that intuitive. Functions two ways: (1) when using the camera as a playback device (e.g., connected to TV or computer); and (2) to start/stop the recording funtion of video camera (e.g. when self-filming movies). The biggest drawback is the short operating range. You need to be a few feet directly in front of (not behind) the camera to use the remote's start/stop function. That makes it not so useful when filming oneself. Ideally it would be great if you could save battery power and memory capacity by starting the recording function from a considerable distance away from the camera. Unfortunately, it's usable range is probably 10 feet or less. Still, given its compact size and easy price point, I'd recommend it as a nice accessory with the Kodak cameras. B & H is reliable, efficient, fair priced and always a pleasure to deal with. The remote is small enough to just fit inside Kodak's compact Resilient II neoprene case with the ZX1 camera.

I carry my Zi8 HD Pocket Video cam all the time. It's compact, HD to SD card and you never know when you'll come across a great shot. Seems like a remote for such a small unit as my Zi8 was silly but if you want to set the camera and be in the shot its a life saver. Very compact so you can palm it and not make it obvious you're holding it on camera. It's simple, straight forward and just plain handy! Very affordable! Thanks B&H for always having what I need from the simple consumer stuff to all the pro stuff I use everyday!!

i got this for my kodak playsport. i wanted the remote because the camera is usually mounted in the front of my kayak and hard to reach. it would be perfect if it could work from in front of and behind the camera but it only works facing the lens. i also wish you could power up and down with it but i guess that is asking a lot !

The remote is great for both video and taking photos. The cool thing if taking photos is you can get situated then press the Red button the camera makes a shutter click sound and you're good to go. With video, like walking a trail, set up tripod ahead of you, go back walk toward camera at about 30 feet out press Red record button, red light on camera indicates it's recording.
The only real limitation I have noticed is you must be pretty much in front of the camera to use it, not too far to the side. Also 30 to about 40 feet is the maximum distance.
Also nice is the remote is so small you can easily conceal it in your hand, then you can operate it undetected.
Another great feature is when camera is connected to TV, the remote can operate the playback functions.

It has been my experience so far that this remote DOES NOT work with the new Playtouch as advertised! I bought the camera and the remote together. The only button that would work on the remote is the record button. I tried 3 remotes on 3 different cameras and vice versa at Best Buy and the same problem existed on every occasion. I would have thought that Kodak would have done their own testing before they advertised that this remote is compatible with the Playtouch...IT IS NOT!
Customer support is clueless they have even tried to convince me that if I plug it into a television some of the buttons will work! This is crazy I don't care if SOME of the buttons work. They don't all work as advertised! I bought this remote to control the Playtouch while recording on a tripod.
