VariZoom Mini Audio/Video to LANC Converter Cable
Varizoom's VZ-AV/LANC adapter cable allows you to add Varizoom lens control devices (for example, the Stealth LX, Rock LE, and Pro-L) to Sony Handycams that have an A/V Remote terminal instead of LANC input. Add remote zoom and focus capability to your shots by plugging the Varizoom's connector into the 3.5" mini female end of the adapter, and the other end of the adapter into your camcorder's A/V Remote terminal.
Compatible cameras include Sony HDR-HC9, DCR-HC52, HDR-SR11, HDR-UX20, DCR-DVD610, DCR-DVD710, HDR-SR12, HDR-SR10, DCR-SR220, DCR-SR45, DCR-SR65, DCR-SR85, SCR-DVD810, DCR-HC62, DCR-SR220D, HDR-SR10D, HDR-TG1, HDR-CX12, DCR-DVD910, HDR-UX10, and HDR-FX7.

I have a Sony VCT-D68RM Tripod with a remote in the handle that I couldn't use with my new Sony HDR-XR500V. This adapter cable allowed to plug that camera into the LANC connector on the Tripod. Perfectly simple!

One of the reasons I chose a Sony for my new HD Camcorder is for the built-in LANC control. Unfortunately Sony doesn't include the dedicated LANC jack on their new camcorders but built it in to the multi-purpose AV port. This cable allows me to access that part of the port and works as it should. My only beef is the price, a cable like this should really be under 10 bucks but I suppose it's somewhat of a specialty item so they probably don't make that many.
