The BDS v3 battery distribution system from Remote Audio is an effective device for distributing power to field recording devices, cameras, mixers, and monitoring devices via a single source such as an Anton Bauer "Brick" or an NP-1 battery.
The BDS v3 features 1 power input, 5 switchable outputs, and 1 non-switchable output for a total of 6 outputs. All connections lock securely in place and a recessed master switch and power LED indicator are located on the side. The unit also has a connection jack for the Remote Meter, which allows you to remotely monitor voltage and current draw.
An internal 6A auto-resetting circuit breaker prevents overload and possible damage to connected devices. Output 1 is factory set to "unswitched" status. Output 1 distributes power to the connected device regardless of the master switch's position. This operation can be reversed by moving an internal jumper. An assortment of power cables are available for complete compatibility with various batteries and field devices. An attached belt clip and small rugged enclosure make the BDS v3 both durable and convenient when using in studios or on location.

Comments about Remote Audio BDS v3 Battery Distribution System:
With its Unswitched Output option, I find it helpful as I use it to power my Sound Devices 442 mixer and use the rest of the outputs to power my Lectro 411A receivers which I can now turn off with a single switch without affecting the mixer when I only need to use my rifle mic and mixer.
It is really great to have it in your audio bag.

Comments about Remote Audio BDS v3 Battery Distribution System:
Have used a Remote Audio v2 for about five years several times each week world wide as a location sound mixer and it's never once let me down. Solid product that I've been able to count on from corporate to third world environments. I've got great expectations for the v3 and to compare I'm sorry to see the green power indicator light go away on it. The smaller size is a real plus though and I like the darker blue color over the baby blue of v2. The smaller switch is fine and glad it's recessed now. The LCD remote seems a bit more than I need in a bag so I didn't buy it and don't plan on doing so but reading about how it would help with power management could be a plus to some with a bigger budget than the [$] the v3 itself costs. Bottom line: go ahead and bite the bullet. Buy the kit and have reliable power in your bag. Taking shortcuts with your gear doesn't help build a good reputation.

Comments about Remote Audio BDS v3 Battery Distribution System:
I have the three channel Sound Devices 302 mixer and the Fostex FR-2LE flash recorder in my audio bag. That's a total of 7 batteries. With the battery distribution system i would simply need one NP-1 battery to power all my equipment from my mixer bag. I have saved so much money by doing this. Extremely useful system for any person who would like to save some cash.
