With the Canon WP-DC34 waterproof case for the Canon PowerShot G11 & G12, you can use your digital camera to take underwater shots at depths of up to 130' (40m). Of course it's also ideal for taking worry-free pictures in the rain, at the beach, or on the ski slopes.
You can use your camera's internal flash for lighting purposes. Or, use the internal flash to trigger a slaved external strobe like those made by Fantasea, Sea & Sea, Ikelite, or Sealife. The camera has an underwater white balance setting for available light photography.

I took this case for three dives and a bunch of snorkeling trips around hawaii and one was a 78foot dive to see a wreck and this case performed well. I shot both still and movies switching between modes and changing settings under water. 95% of the functions were available. The only major function missing is when I use Tv mode and tried to change the shutter speed I can't since the shutter speed is controlled by the spinning of the thumb wheel which I can't access using the buttons on the case. Otherwise, i really like the case.

I purchased this product in order to take underwater photos. It is cheap and small, which were my primary considerations. In this respect it fulfills my expectations adequately.
Beyond price and size, the best qualities of the housing are that it is clear plastic so that you can see if there is any leakage, it has multiple eyelets for threading various lanyards through (one on each front corner of the housing), and the buttons are easy to press with bare fingers (without gloves), including at depth.
There are three things I wish were different about the housing. First of all, the lens port does not support threaded wet-mount lenses. The design requires the addition of a bulky adapter which is held in place by bungies. It's simply inefficient.
Secondly, and also due to the design of the lens port, the diffuser is gigantic. It flops around in the water, the lanyard gets tangled up on other things, and all-in-all the thing is just in the way more than it is helpful.
Finally, and most importantly to me since I shoot in Manual mode, the process for changing aperture and shutter values is complex, requiring pressing three buttons, two of them simultaneously, in order to turn the small wheel on the back of the camera. This makes bracketing a colossal pain.
Ultimately, I wish I could afford to buy a better-designed housing for the camera.

Comments about WP-DC34 Case for Canon PowerShot G11 & G12:
We just bought a house in Aruba so I am doing a lot of diving now. My brother has visited us twice and brought his G11 with this underwater case. I recently bought a G12 and I tried my brothers case with my camera and it was very easy to use and the pictures turned out great! I am just learning how to use it but I think it's a great size and easy to handle under the water.

This is a Cannon brand underwater case for the Canon G11 and G12 camera which means the camera fits in the case perfect, padding locks the camera in place. The action of the buttons and wheels is smooth. I like that the case is clear so I can see condensation and any possible leaks before I decend on a dive so I feel more comfortable taking my new G12 camera underwater.

Used this for the first time 5/2012 in St John's USVI with a Canon G-12. Easy set up. Since it was my first underwater photo attempt I simply set the camera on 'fish', no strobes attached. Got some surprisingly good shots on the first two days, other day was a bit cloudy but still got some interesting keepers. Dive depths were no deeper than 70'. Tested the unit prior to each dive with and without the camera. Simply wipe a drop of the included gel on the seal, place in a sink and inspect. Was cautious on the first dive, continually looking for leaks. Not a drop found on any dive. Durable also, it took a few knocks when getting back on the boat but unmarked. Easy to adjust while diving although I only modified the zoom and flash options but did test the others while on land. I look forward to years of use. BTW, the G-12 was killer on the trip. Crisp clear shots using a number of settings.

A simplistic and functional waterproof case for the cannon G12. Enable easy use of camera functions whilst in the case above and under the water. I highly recommend this case for those wanting to make even more use of their cannon G12.

No surprises. It works as expected.
I have not had a chance to test it thoroughly and take it into deep water. But for pool and beach photos works great.

I bought this case to use with my g12 on a snorkeling trip to Hawaii. Already having the g12, I was comfortable with the controls... Out of the water. So I took it to the local pool and played around with it for a while. Time well invested. Pictures looked great. The controls are easy to use, just know the cases limitations, as not all controls are useable underwater. Would certainly recommend for the average snorkeler or diver. Size, price and ease of use are excellent.
Do get the optional weights.

Comments about WP-DC34 Case for Canon PowerShot G11 & G12:
I bought it and the G12 especially for diving as a DSLR case is far too expensive for me.
The main reason for buying the G12 was the manual control options.
this housing however does not allow turning the dials of the G12 and thus all manual options are not available, you have to set an aperture and speed before you dive...very annoying and useless in certain situations.
i guess this is due to the fact that it was originally made for the G11 that has no dials like the G12.
and don't forget to buy the weights that are sold separately if you want it to have a negative buoyancy. to my opinion it should be part of the housing and we shouldn't have to pay for it separately.
Bottom line is that unless you want to pay a small fortune for an Ikelite housing this is your only choice.

I use both as a great weather protector in rain while hiking and sightseeing and on and underwater while boating, fishing, swimming, and snorkeling/diving. The system works well and buttons are easy to access with care. This is my second canon UWcase, so the learning curve was short.
