The GoPro HD Motorsports HERO Camcorder records 1080p high definition video from your helmet, your vehicle, or anywhere else you mount it. The camera comes with 2 helmet mounts, 3 vehicle mounts, and a suction cup mount. Other optional mounts can be obtained for even more ways to record. The waterproof (up to 180 ft, 60m) polycarbonate housing also protects the camera from crashes and scratches.
Aside from shooting HD video, the HERO also captures 5MP digital stills. You can record at 2, 5, 10, 30, and 60 second intervals until the battery dies or the SD card fills up. The camera can also take single shots, triple shots, or be used with the self-timer. In addition, the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts for up 2.5 hours on a single charge and features an integrated heating system for staying warm during cold weather activities.

I've had the GoPro HD for several weeks now and I wanted to share my experience with this camcorder.
Before purchasing this camcorder, I knew that this would be mainly for sports and that it doesn't come with a screen to preview or to review video. I thought I should be able to live without having a screen, but everytime I use it, I really wish it had a screen. It looks like aftermarket screens are available, so I'll most likely purchase one later so that I can better compose each video.
As for the video quality, I was so surprised to see how good it was. In good lighting, the videos from the GoPro look comparable to my Canon T2i! I was shocked! However, it's in poor lighting that this camera falls short. I would actually say that in poor lighting, it's almost unusable. Before purchasing the camcorder, I saw a sample video on youtube, where a skier was night skiing, but honestly, I really don't know how he was able captured that. Maybe there is a ISO setting that I don't know of?
So, I would deduct a star for it's low quality in low lightings. Sound is also pretty bad, even with the open back, but I knew that before purchasing this camcorder.
Other than that, I really enjoy using this camcorder. I liked it so much that I purchased a second one, hoping to get different angles. Also, I can't wait to get the 3D case when it comes out next year!

I purchased my GoPro excitedly waiting to use it on some motorcycle track days so I could review the footage and critique my body positioning, lean angles, etc. to learn to become a better rider. At the end of the day of my -first- trackday with this camera the thumbscrew loosened somewhere out on the track and the camera came off. I later recovered the camera and the only part which broke was the memory card slot it seems.. during the crash the card was jarred out and now will not load SD cards properly anymore, rendering it useless. I was absolutely sure to check and retighten the screw between every session as I had my doubts as to whether it could stay tight and my concerns were proven. I would absolutely RECOMMEND AGAINST PURCHASING this camera as the mounting system is sub-par and does not include any kind of safety wire/tethering incase it comes off like in my situation. I contacted GoPro support, meticulously detailing with pictures how I mounted the camera, where it was located, etc. and was told that they would not offer me any kind of repairs or replacement under warranty even though I followed the instructions exactly as printed.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday and he is motocross rider. For the last few years he wanted a camera for when he rides and has tried to rig a few up of his own but he wrecks and they break. We love this camera. Its perfect for what he needed it for. The video quality is great and its very easy to use. The cases also makes it very durable and I dont have to worry about things happening to it! We have only used it a hand full of times since just purchased it a few weeks ago but I would recommend this product to anyone who rides dirtbikes and ATVs. Any kind of action thing in general its great!

Couldn't decide on which camera to buy for mounting on my motorcycle and helmet, made the decision based on the many mounting capabilities available as this can be mounted on many different applications besides motorcycles. Will be buying the chest mount harness next, the other brands although better in some ways does not have a chest mount. When the gopro isn't on my motorcycle or motorcycle helmet, I mount it to my car windshield as a dash cam. I also like the fact that I can buy accessories from many outdoor and sporting goods stores and the big chain electronics stores here in the USA. Some people have complained the menu is complicated, although its not the easiest, it only took me 2 days to figure it out, so just read the manual.

I think the GoPro is great and takes great video. The only problem is that mine kept freezing. I think that my GoPro was just a bad one or just had some malfunction issues. My friend has one and it works great. I'm pretty sure that the new GoPro I'm getting will work fine and GoPro is something worth getting for fun and exciting photos and videos.

This was by far the best GoPro Value in the world! The motorsports package was as advertised, in it's original packaging, and had all the accessories as promised. I was skeptical at first because the deal was much better than everywhere else I could find it but it's legit! They shipped for free and didn't charge any tax. The pricing is much better than most if not all web competitors including online auction sellers!I've worked with GoPro cameras on professional racing circuits and I have to say they are pretty amazing! They are durable and the suction cup mount sticks very well to the car. I bought this one for myself and I'm using it on my wife's car so we can review her horrendous driving and try to correct her mistakes. I'm also going to use it on my waverunner, wake board, and snow board which will be much more fun!

lots of hipe around that camera. i bought it for friend and he asked me to try it out for him.
i put it on a helmet for motorcycle rides, underwater in a pool, films and pics, inside and outside.
So here is what i think of it:
Pros:
- good price
- compact
- wide angle not deforming picture
- stable
- relatively easy to implement
- versatile, fun to use in different conditions
- people look at you if you're into that kind of stuff
Cons:
- not so good in low light
- bulky on helmet and wind resistance when over 80mph
- battery life only about 1h in 960p, so buy another set
- although mounts are stable and sturdy, the knobs are not always easy to tighten; i used a screwdriver sometimes
- no back screen or speaker so you have to buy the extra bacpak accessory for $80
- sound is total junk !
overall it's a nice toy to use in many different situations, hence the hipe, accessories AND locked prices around that camera + extras.
i would like to see a version with a finger like sensor and simple wire to connect to a module for more discretion, less wind resistance, better ease of use and mount.
i haven't tried the new one but i imagine that besides an overall improved quality, it still remains the same.
before diving (pun intended) into a store and buying it, consider what you want to do with it and think of it as an extra appendix sticking out of you.
