I bought this camera to rekindle my teenage romance with instant photography. In our new post-Polaroid world, I went in search of film to feed my now orphaned SX-70 and/or my pack film cameras and decided that the price was now at silly money per shot level. I remembered the Fuji camera line. I have several Fuji pro film cameras (medium format) and they are wonderful to use. Some are now too valuable to use (the 6X17)but I still grab the 645 when I need a compact rangefinder with great glass.
The Instax 210 is what happens when the Polaroid Swinger and the SX-70 make babies. It is funky and cheap feeling like the old toylike Swinger and clever and motorized like the SX-70.
Wahtever you think of the design, it works well and after some playing around, it makes a decent Polaroid comparable image.
Good things:
Plentiful and cheap film supply from many sources.
AA batteries power the thing. No chance that those will be hard to find.
Simple controls that are easy to use once you get the idiosyncratic operation.
Bad things:
The idiosyncratic operation. The stupid thing powers up in the close up mode. You need to check the controls before each and every shot.
Color dye depth (for the film) is not quite at the surreal oversaturated level of the newer Polacolor consumer films. It is much more subdued bordering on pastel.
No choice of film types or speeds. You get ISO 800 desaturated color whether you want it or not.
Bottom line: If you require a serious phographic tool bring a D3x. If you want a cheap fun unusual and nostalgic camera that you can still buy film for....this camera is a real hoot, but bring the D3x (or similar spec Canon) in case you need to make frameable pictures.
One last point for instant imaging cameras like this one: If you need to document something (example; for legal purposes) this is the way to go. It is very difficult to copy- alter-and reshoot an Instax picture without detection. Meaning: this is a good way to create a non-photoshoppable image if that is what you need.

I like it a lot but its hard to find the film and a lot harder to find it in mexico and its expensive. i dont like the size, i would love it if it was smaller but with the same film format. and i dont like that what you see isnt what you take, would like it more if the view was closer to the lens.

Comments about Fujifilm Instax 210 Instant Film Camera:
This is my first instant film camera and overall, the product is alright. You shouldn't be expecting anything too sophisticated from this camera in the first place, so as long as you're aware of the limitations of an instant film camera, this product should be satisfying enough. As everyone mentioned, the camera is indeed bulky so I normally don't carry it with me outdoors (I have my DSLR with me instead). I only use this camera for special occasions. The camera is good overall, but one downside to this product is that pictures normally come out pretty dark, unless you're taking the photo outdoors in the sun or near a bright light source.

I am presently attending an art institute to study photography and I have used this camera for projects and shown the results in galleries. The pictures are stunning.
Yes, there are primitive aspects to this bulky, but lovely gadget. However, you can play around with it and learn how to adapt.
Yes, the flash goes off whenever it feels like it. I simply muffle the flash with a fabric softener dryer sheet and a rubber band.
I also make the photo more/less cool/warm toned by using a photography gel over the flash.
So if you are thinking about or attempting to use this beauty for fine art purposes or something similar, you can.
If you give this baby time and love she will work wonders for you. I would not trade her for the world!

Love the size. Brings back the old school feel of photography. Really great for projects, such as photo journals. Really cheap for such a wonderful camera and as long as you have the film handy you'll always be able to shoot. I was worried about loading the film and it being a problem but it takes a second which is amazing. I would def recommend to a friend. The only cons that I have found is the time that it takes the film to develope and the fact that the flash fires even when turned off. Other then that still really awesome.

I still own an old polaroid and since they no longer make the film (and the one you can buy is too expensive or expired), I was excited to buy this camera. The camera is fairly priced and so is the film. I used it recently at my daughter's birthday party to make favors for our guests to take home. Everyone loved them! The best feature, of course, is the instant pictures. I have nothing but good things to say about this camera. The only down side is the camera's bulkiness, but that is expected from an instant camera because the pictures are contained inside. With that said, thanks Fuji for bringing back the instant camera :)

I am so happy to have a new Polaroid-style camera. The only downside is the viewfinder placement, to the side, which makes it difficult to frame the image.

I love the Fuji Instax!
This camera is rather large, however this is not a concern to me. Actually, I kind of like it. Maybe it's my ego but this camera sure does get noticed when you wear it out.
Wide format images for a wide format world. I'm a fan of the new format and well priced.
Takes 4 AA batteries, easy enough to pick up anywhere (that sells batteries).
Okay, so what's not so good? I'm glad you asked. The flash will always fire. Not really a big deal. Gives you a little bit of fill light in the day and is needed through the night. No biggie, you could always cover it if you wanted. It would be amazing to have a rear curtain flash sync.
Happy instaxing!

Comments about Fujifilm Instax 210 Instant Film Camera:
I shoot models using a digital SLR, an instant camera from another well-known manufacturer of instant cameras and now on my new Fuji Instax 210. The images from this camera are infinitely sharper than anything I can get out of instant cameras from other manufacturers. This camera also produces a far more realistic depiction of the scene, with none of the color cross processing effect or vignette that you get with instant cameras from other manufacturers. While some people love the charm of those older instant cameras, this camera provides a much more accurate representation of what is being depicted.
The price of the Fuji makes its purchase an almost "no-brainer." If you have any interest in shooting an Instant camera, the Fuji is a great bargain. The film does get pricey if you're shooting a lot of it but is cheaper, per picture than other instant cameras.
The biggest downsides of the Fuji Instax:
1) they do not make B&W film for this camera yet;
2) the exposure controls are really primitive, limiting the user to "Normal" "Darker" or "Lighter" - which really doesn't give the kind of precise control that most photographers are used to, being able to adjust shutter speed, aperture, film speed . . .etc.
3) the flash can not be manually turned off. I may be mistaken but I believe the only flash settings are "Force Flash" and "Auto." In Auto mode the flash almost always goes off which leads to some overexposed images.

Comments about Fujifilm Instax 210 Instant Film Camera:
I'm an idiot so I had issues putting in the batteries. Despite the fact that the coil is at the top on all 4 battery slots (whereas they usually interchange between top and bottom from slot to slot) you have to be careful which way you put in the batteries. I assumed that since the coil was at the top of each one, the batteries all faced the same way - not the case. Eventually saw how to place the batteries printed inside the camera.
Also, this thing is pretty big, which I like and dislike. I can't put it in my pocket and it certainly won't fit in a tiny purse, being slightly larger than my nikon d7000 dslr, but it's fun and reminds me of the 90s.
Also, you can't turn off the flash manually. The light meter makes that decision for you. If you're taking indoor photos or anything less than a few feet away from the subject and don't want it blown out, set the light to Darken. I wasted a bunch of film trying to get my flash to work with me.

Comments about Fujifilm Instax 210 Instant Film Camera:
Camera is an affordable device that provides immense pleasure. That Fujifilm can engineer this marvel into a price below $70 testifies to their skill. Too bad Fujifilm couldn't hire someone to design this better. It's ugly. Amorphous, slippery plastic. But the results are impressive. Excellent color and a sharp lens. Plus the "Oohs" and ""Ahhs" or your friends. Don't get too close to the subject if you're using the flash inside. Turn off surrounding lights so that it's dark. Keep six feet away, and your indoor shots will be perfect.

Comments about Fujifilm Instax 210 Instant Film Camera:
Although this is the only model there is for instant pictures, besides the minis, it is a good buy. The feeling of taking a picture and seeing right after printed in a paper is priceless.
What is not so good about it, in my opinion, is its design: it's too big and not so comfortable. Another thing is that the view-finder is too far away from the lens, which won't show you the exact cut of the picture you will take. There aren't many features in the camera as well, basically, you point and shoot. You cannot see the focus through the view-finder, since it has no mirror to the lens, so you have to choose from three different focus range and guess how distant you are from the subject and try it, at least you will see if you got it right right away. Another thing that is missing, and, for me, it is really bad that they don't have it, is the feature to turn the flash off: you can only set it to fire all the time or to automatically fire whenever the camera finds it necessary, so, most of the times, I have to cover the flash with something so it won't interfere in the subject when I don't want it.
I would recommend this camera to you only if you want to have some artistic feelings in photography. It is not good for exact photographs. But, as I said, it is great to see the picture coming out instantly, and the camera has a good price.

Comments about Fujifilm Instax 210 Instant Film Camera:
I've been using a whole assortment of instant cameras over the last couple of years. Most of them are older Polaroids that I use for shooting Impossible film (which yields interesting results, but the pictures only last a couple of months before they begin to fade and the film is insanely expensive). I also have a Polaroid Z340 which I really do like - but that one is digital and doesn't shoot real film, although the results on Zink photo paper are comparable to older Polaroids in terms of quality and durability).
Enter the Instax 210 - the last REAL instant camera that is still available (and hopefully will be for a long time). Fujifilm's instant film is absolutely fabulous - much better than Polaroid ever was. The pictures are as good as normal prints - but you get them instantaneously, rather than having to wait for processing or printing them out at home. The camera looks quirky, but it's great to hold and the large format makes it stick out at parties etc. I essentially bought the camera for taking family pictures. I do that - but apart from that, I catch myself carrying it around all the time. I even use it for my wedding photo business - my clients absolutely love getting some of the pictures right on their special day. This actually generates business for me - I've had clients who called me and specifically asked whether I'd use the instant camera they had seen at their friends weddings.
I can only recommend it - it's durable, looks funny (in a good way), the pictures are great and the prints are reasonably priced, considering that Polaroid prints used to cost about double as much and now (with the Impossible film) are about 5 times more expensive.
