I use this camera to photograph firefighting activities. I needed a quick and easy camera to operate when duty calls. The camera has proved tough enough to withstand heat, cold, water, and shock as it is carried inside my bunker gear. The images are superior as well.

this was my first underwater test. i took it to the swimming pool, (about 4 ft). For the first 2 days , it was "normal", but in day "3" after the recharge, I notice water condentation behind the glass covering the lens and back to the LCD panel and the red eye reduction led. It took about 5 minutes facing directly the sun and it was ok. but repeted after and after. I could not see water neither in the card compartmnet, nor in the battery one, but it was anoying having to stop time to time. I could see bublles trought the battery switch, the opening holles for the microphone and speakers.I thing this is "normal", or is like that anyway.

I love this camera. Being an avid outdoor sports fanatic and photo enthusiast this camera does the job and just keeps on truckin'. I've taking this thing snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and to the river. No problems what so ever. The pictures that I took were great. I think most people get stuck on the pictures not being DSLR quality but you have to remember it is a point and shoot. The pictures are perfect for 4x6 and even bigger to 8x10. I haven't had a problem yet.
Complaints/product flaws:
1) Video. The recording on this camera is...sub-par compared to a lot of other point&shoot cameras...but then again they can't go underwater...
2) The record button is pretty much microscopic. I had to take my gloves off to press the button while snowboarding, and everyone who does outdoor sports knows...taking off and putting back on is not fun.
3) Wish the memory card wasn't micro sd (just a personal issue).
Other than those three things I love the camera.

I bought this on a whim to take with me on a trip to the Caribbean. I was looking for quality photos from a compact camera. I knew it was a lower megapixel, low zoom camera going in - that's what this camera is. That is exactly what I got! I am a complete camera novice. This little find was extremely easy to use, a dream to carry around, and passed the underwater pic test. Although it didn't work great in the hot tub, but I blame the bubbles. One star off because somehow I hit something that locked the flash in off, and it took some menu surfing to get it back to auto. Should be easier.

The plan is to start with swimming with the dolphins!! We live at the beach and surf...so this camera will be getting lots of use.
I would advise getting the float device, so incase you drop it in the ocean it will float.

This camera is great...except for inside photos. I've had a lot of problem with inside photos being blurry. Everything else is great. I would recommend this camera for outdoorsy, active people. Or for point and shooters who want a durable camera.

I buy this product for my girlfriend as a birthday gift. You know girls are not a careful digi product user. Her last camera is total cooked because of rough use. And the EX-G1 is a really tough camera which not afraid rough use at all. you can even through it in the water. And it looks great with the shining red coat. So I guess this is a perfect gift for the people who usually not use camera carefully enough. And indeed my girlfriend love this gift so much.

I bought this camera for my 22 yr old son and he is toally in love with this camera. He's taken pictures underwater with great results. And it is definately shock proof. It also takes great nature shots and has nice zoom capability. The only issue is nite pictures aren't that great but otherwise it's a very good camera.

The local lakes have "claimed" (2) previous Casio Exilim cameras of mine.. Most recently, one was a casuality of taking some really great photo & video of a friend jet skiing.. So, I have been looking at the Olympus & Canon waterproof / shock proof cameras for a few years.. BUT - they are both larger than I want.. SO - Here comes Casio with a really great camera that is everything that I want it to be! I've spent years trying to "capture" the fun that my 5 yr old son gets himself in to. But, frankly, the photos are rarely perfect. NOW - I can give him the camera and not have to worry about it getting wet, or him dropping it.. This allows HIM to capture the real fun, now. We are having a lot of fun being able to take this camera inthe water, on the trails, and everywhere else!! Awesome!!

first waterproof digital camera i owned. didn't want to go for big bucks for the ones that go 33feet deep. The casio g did the trick. i used it in the pool, the beach and even while snorling and zip lining. Take great indoor shots also. definitely worth the money. The only negative is that you have to remove the battery to charge it and they don't tell you that you need to make sure that when you come in from the heat to make sure the camera cools down before you remove the battery or you might get some condensation in it.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-G1 Digital Camera (Red) "High Endurance Extreme Shooting Gear":
This camera is probably the best "tough" camera for the money. It is small in size, has a good, enclosed optical zoom, it comes with two different optional side guards for added protection, and it is arguably one of the best looking cameras. This camera has an awesome Best Shot mode where it optimizes settings based on what kinds of situations you are shooting in. My most favorite is the underwater setting. I have only taken it into a 5ft pool, but it does terrific. It can stand the heat of a jacuzzi just fine as well. I have not used the video mode, so I cannot speculate on its quality.
The only true drawback I have found is the picture speed. This can be reduced through settings in the camera (ie: flash, high speed shooting mode, etc). Another negligble drawback would be the depth that this camera is waterproof to. It can only be taken down 10ft. This severely limits your options, especially against higher priced competitors (ie: Olympus, Panasonic). This can be remedied to an extent, however. There are aftermarket cases and bags that allow an extra 5-10ft or so.
Aside from these drawbacks, I do not regret this purchase one bit. I think that Casio has made an incredible, well-rounded product with the EX-G1. I would recommend this camera to anyone in the mariet for a "tough" camera. I would also recommend getting a screen cover to protect the display as there is no viewfinder.
