Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Supercardioid Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I use this mic in my home studio. The signal chain is API 512c to an RME Fireface 400. I monitor through Genelec 1031a monitors.

This mic sounds good. Really good. None of that hyped high end like other mics in this price category. It's in the same ballpark as my AKG 414EB w/brass ring capsule and my U87 clone. Nice to have different choices, and this mic delivers a new, high quality flavor. The hypercard pattern is pretty useful, especially in, ahem, less than perfect rooms.

My gripe is the shockmount isn't very forgiving. It's hard to take off, and positioning a square mic can take a little brain power to get right. A cylindrical mic can rotate within its shockmount and is much easier to position.

That said, this mic is an incredible deal. Buy it and check it out. You can always send it back (but you won't).

CAD E100 S, Excellent Microphone!

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Supercardioid Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I purchased the CAD E100S to use in home recording with GarageBand on a Mac. For my first project, I had recorded vocals using a an AT2020 and I soon realised that I would need a better mic to make the vocals sound more professional. I did a lot of research and watched some YouTube videos and narrowed my options down to a handful of mics in the $ range. When I saw the CAD on sale at BH Photo, I just had to get it, and I'm so glad I did! I use it with a Focusrite iTRack Solo and the results are amazing; the CAD is a very quiet mic, but extremely sensative. The vocals that I record with it are very clear and sit so well in the mix that balancing levels is a breeze! I highly recommmend this mic to anyone looking to improve the sound of their home recordings!

        Great Mic!!!

        By Peter

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Supercardioid Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

After many of my engineer colleagues raved about this mic I decided to pick one up! The first thing I noticed when it arrived was that it was built like a tank and comes in a gorgeous cherry wood box. I set it up and ran it through my apogee duet. The mic is very quiet and after testing it on vocals and acoustic guitar I was very impressed. It has really nice air up top but also a nice warm mid and bass. It's a little hyped at 3k I found which made me think it would sound great on electric guitar. Very happy with the mic and it seems very versatile to me.

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Supercardioid Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

For my ears, and from the manufacturer's specs, this mic has a very flat response curve that reaches all the way down towards 20Hz. This makes my post-production work very easy! Sibilant sounds have not been problematic for me. I do recommend using a pop filter with this if you are using it for vocals.

the only need to know if you want to install this microphone on the boopole...it's pain, because the shockmount and the microphone come together, then you have to turn entirely the microphone for screw and unscrew the E100S from the boompole, fo fix that you need a 2 accessories and i find what exactely what we need =>

I use this mic in a voice over studio. It's very well balanced across the frequency spectrum. Smooth, handles plosives well with a pop filter and proper mic placement. The HP filter helps in boomier rooms or on boomier voices. Build quality is fantastic. The high quality sound this mic produces is much more than what you'd expect at this price point. Killer mic.

I use the E100S for Voice-Over and ADR work. I know there are other large diaphragm mics that are considered to be better, and I have not used them since film school, but for me, this mic is a great performer at an excellent price. In other words -- a great value.

It's hard to argue against the sound that this mic produces. I cannot get it to sound bad no matter how hard I try. There is not any harshness in the frequency range anywhere. It's just the right combination of clarity, distinctness, precision, and openness. I have yet to find anything that sits in the pocket so well especially for vocal applications. This guy is so versatile that I really don't even need any other condenser microphones.

I bought this mic to upgrade from my NT1A. For my voice the NT1A was a bit bright and sharp. The CAD brings a bit more warmth to it without that tube sound. However, it does have a slightly lower output, so I bought a preamp, so I wouldn't have to drive my interface so hard.Quality mic built in the USA too.

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Supercardioid Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I was told to purchase a Sennheiser MKH 416 mic and after much research, I found a suitable alternative for less than half the cost!
It's the greatest mic that no one knows about!
The CAD E100S super cartoid condersor mic … and it's American made.
I had been satisfied with my "sound" before, but too many people told me that to be taken seriously in the world of VO, you had to get rid of the EV RE 20 dynamic mic.
Typically I record TV/radio spots, video VO, IVR, and audiobooks.
WOW! Was I blown away! The difference was better than I ever could have hoped for.
While the sound of the RE 20 was OK, it sounded like I recorded something in a booth and the listener was out of the picture.
Now, with the E100S, it sounds like I'm right in the room, up close and personal and the listener is interwoven into the experience.
I would buy this mic again and again.
My only regret is that I didn't do my research sooner and buy it years ago!
                            I haven't discovered anything yet that I don't like.
The only thing I found to give me any difficulty was mounting it on my mic stand. After positioning and repositioning, it was finally apparent that the only way to get it to "balance" was to install it upside down. Once that was done, it worked beautifully!

My male baritone sounds as good as it will ever sound with this mic. There's a magic presence with the e100S--on acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocals. It's a keeper.

This is a great mic for my voice. Male baritone/tenor range. I rate the e100-S higher than the original e100. The S is quieter and just pristine, warm, full, kinda magic. The only mic I've used that might sound this good is the AKG 414.

Started using the S the day it arrived. Recorded a new song and re-did the vocal on two others. Also used the S on acoustic guitar, (in stereo with an Audio Technica 4073) snare drum with brushes (mono). All tracks sound great and vocal re-dos are way better sonically than previous takes done with AKG Perception 220 or AT 4073.

I am using this as my practice microphone in my family room PA system. Right away, I am hearing a bigger, better, warmer sound on my vocals. I added a WindTech PopGard to cut plosives. Before that I just sang at an angle to it. I will bring this into my studio next. Love it so far.

This Mic I use on the Toms on my drum kit because of its narrow field. It has a nice mid low and mid frequency capture.I use it side by side with a Rode NT1000 to create a full tone capture on my vox ACL15.It responds well to acoustic guitar offset from the sound hole on the body of the guitar to capture a warm woody bass sound. It is such a diverse microphone, and thanks to the -10db pad its also good with hi SPL.Its going to give you professional results, and with good pre amps, makes for one of the most diverse mics in my studio.

Back in the day when I had a full fledged studio with three separate recording rooms and a super quiet vocal booth, I readily used mics like a U87, AKG414 etc etc and yes they sounded fabulous on vocalists and my lower register speaking voice.

Time moved on and my work shifted from recording jingles and other musical work to strictly voice and custom commercials in a home studio.

Being at the board and surrounded by computers and equipment fans, a condenser was out of the question and I quickly shifted to an EV RE-20 dynamic.

An audio junkie friend told me about this mic and after researching in depth, I decided to give it a try because I sorely missed that condenser "sound."

As others have said, at first I didn't think I had the fader up on it because I didn't "hear" anything. I then started doing some sample reads of copy and experimented with a little EQ, compression, roll off etc. until it sounded quite sweet in the headphones.

Since that time, I have used it for anything but hi energy VO's and with very very little EQ adjustments while recording or in post.

Bottom line, it's super quiet, clean, (uncolored) and one sweet little condenser that can at last enable me to do movie trailer style work again or that Ford truck gritty gravel style.

The mic is indeed sensitive and it takes some getting used to in order to avoid voice gremlins etc. but I found the windscreen helps that immensely. In other words, good mic technique is a must and that probably goes for many condensers.

Might not be right for all but for deeper voice announcing it's a dream...and especially for the money. I don't think some of the much higher priced mics I once used could really add that much more for MY applications. (Assuming they were as quiet)

                                                      It's a keeper for sure!

Oh the science of microphones... This mic is great for every recording application; provided you realize it is a FLAT response mic. It is not flavored like a Neumann, so if you have working technical knowledge of EQ its possibilities are virtually limitless. Good for vocals and instruments. Just take your time and be smart about application. Can't beat the price. Don't believe the hype of the other mics. You're paying 70 percent of the price on hype. My only criticism is that I'd like a little larger diaphragm for low frequency response. ;)
