The juicedLink DN101 Automatic Gain Control Disabler greatly improves audio quality, while capturing video with a DSLR camera. The DN101 connects between the juicedLink preamplifier of choice (compatible with all), and your DSLR camera to provide a compatible microphone output, headphone monitoring, audio level meter, and most importantly an Automatic Gain Control (AGC) disabling function.
The DN101 draws power from the battery of the connected preamp and small, user-friendly modifications to the battery compartment are required. For users of DSLR cameras that already provide AGC disabling and manual control over level (such as the Canon 5D), the DN101 will still prove useful as a headphone monitoring preamp and accurate level meter. In all, the juicedLink DN101 introduces a big solution to the audio quality of DSLR video recordings in a small, lightweight design.
Note! The meters must be recalibrated for use with DSLR cameras that allow for AGC disabling. For instructions on how to do this, please refer to JuicedLink.

I just bought a 60d and wanted to use the manual audio. It gives clean audio and saved me from buying their latest model just to monitor audio through headphones.

Comments about juicedLink DN101 Automatic Gain Control Disabler for DSLR Cameras:
I got this addition mainly for the headphone amp and meter. I haven't tried the AGC since it's unnecessary for the 5d2. Installation wasn't bad. I suggest looking at the installation process before buying the DN101 so you understand what exactly is being modded. My only complaint is that there is about a quarter inch gap between the DN101 and the juicedlink. It also makes a ridge at the bottom of the juicedlink so it's not as easy to attach to a tripod plate.
The headphone amp is really noisy (to be fair, I knew it would be noisy before buying it). It's not good enough to judge what's recording but the sound going into the camera is still really clean gain.
The meter is really small and it's tough to get an accurate reading even after aligning it with the cameras meters.
Overall, the DN101 does exactly what it claims to do. It's a temporary solution to some of the HDSLR sound issues. I ended up running the juicedlink into a Sony PCM-D50 and I monitor levels through the Sony. I then use the Sony line outs to record onto the camera wirelessly. I'm completely bypassing the DN101 at this point, but it was a decent temporary solution to making sure sound was getting to the juicedlink.
I would recommend this as a temporary solution for monitoring sound. It seems like it would be ideal for HDSLRs without manual audio controls but I didn't get a chance to test those features.

Comments about juicedLink DN101 Automatic Gain Control Disabler for DSLR Cameras:
I like this product for what it was designed to do. I don't need the AGC anymore but having the meters lined up with the Canon 5d II is really nice and having headphone monitoring is essential. The only thing I would like to see changed is the volume control for the headphones. It requires a very small screwdriver, although I know space is limited.
Overall great product, very helpful company!

I have the CX231 that this is in line with and I was amazed at the clarity of sound this produced! Before, when the sound was input directly to the camera, no matter what mic was used, there was always extra noise, hiss, etc. With the DN101, all the bad sound was eliminated. My final product almost immediately sounded professional. The modification process to add onto any CX product is quite simple and this is very easy to use!
