The Fujifilm F80EXR 12 MP Digital Camera (Black) incorporates a ton of features that, until very recently, were only found on high-end professional DLSRs: 12 MP resolution, a wide-angle 10X optical zoom lens, sensitivity up to ISO 12,800, a 3" high contrast LCD monitor, HD video with 720p resolution, and face detection that optimizes exposure and focus for faces--of cats and dogs as well as people!
And that's just the beginning. The F80EXR also offers sophisticated scene recognition that gives you the correct settings for portraits, landscapes, night shots, close-up macro photos, parties, etc., super intelligent flash that correctly exposes and balances foreground and background natural light and flash, an Image Processing function that takes a rapid series of exposures to produce a sharply focused portrait subject with a pleasingly out-of-focus background, or to produce a sharp image in low-light situations. There's even an underwater housing to take your F80EXR under the sea, available separately.

Great point and shoot camera. Having a 10x zoom out of a camera this small is awesome. I like the fact that this has some manual seetting for exposure and shutter speed. Note- if you video in HD make sure you get the correct memory card to do that. Otherwise the audio and video will not synch. However, you can use the standard video setting and it will work fine with a regular memory card.

I bought this camera in South Africa while the World Cup was going on. I didn't want to take my professional DSLR into the stadiums, so I got this camera on sale at a local camera shop. I was looking for a camera that took HD video and had a decent zoom. What a waste of money! The first thing I noticed when I took this into the stadium was the vertical banding that occurs when there's a light source in the picture. So wide shots of the stadiums at night were pointless. The banding completely ruins the shot. The same would go for any picture where there's a lamp or other light source in the background. The other feature this camera has is a "high speed burst." However, it can't capture the burst in any kind of useable resolution, so what you get is a small, noisy mess. In the end I just took photos and video with my iphone -- even though the resolution is much lower, my iphone doesn't have problems with light sources and vertical banding. [...] I recommend sticking with Canon, Nikon, and Sony. Even in the point-and-shoot arena they have produced some amazing cameras.

I carry this camera around every day for those moments that I'd like to capture in a snapshot or on video. It's a great camera for simple pictures and video. However, the quality seems to fall short of older models. Compared to my old Fuji f650, the f80exr has great zoom and better video capabilities. The f80 also has better low light capabilities. But it seems to be lacking in the quality of the picture itself. I admit the camera is still new to me, but so far I've noticed that the low light images I've taken are more "grainy" looking than my old f650. It also doesn't feel as sturdy as the f650. Already the lens cover is inconsistently opening fully. Since the body is a black plastic-like material, it gets pretty hot when I'm shooting in the sun. Also, the macro capabilities were better on the f650. It hasn't been easy figuring out the best camera settings for the type of pictures that I like to take. But it gets the job done and I am satisfied overall with the pictures and video I've taken thus far. But I think you might want a different camera if you take a lot of low light/night time or macro shots. If I could turn back time, I don't think I would buy this camera, but since I already bought it, I don't mind keeping it, either.

I use this camera mostly at night without flash, and it takes great pictures. It has great settings that other compact cameras don't have. Using it on Manual is very simple and user-friendly, and another unique feature is the dual shot mode, in which the camera takes one picture with and without flash in the same moment.
The down sides to this camera are 1) the location of the flash... one tends to put their finger in that spot. 2) No option of removing the start up screen, which slows down the possibility of snapping a quick shot when you turn on the camera. 3)If you keep the camera in your pocket as I do, the on button may be pretty easily turned on accidentally.
Other then that, it's a great camera. It's a good size, the quality of the images are superior to any Leica and many other top brand cameras.

I love that there is no lag time between when i press the button and when the shutter snaps. I liked this about my last fuji, which is why I researched this camera. The EXR function is great at choosing the right setting for each shot. The flash recharges much quicker than the fuji I bought a few years ago. Its heavier than i thought it would be but considering all its functions, I would rather have the weight than a tiny flat camera. The zoom is amazing and quite a clear picture.

10x optical zoom is excellent; some washout at full zoom, but still captures great pictures (especially with image stablilzation). Camera is a little slow to stat up, but takes pictures quickly with little delay. Setting adjust wheel does move rather easily, so double check the setting before shooting! Battery life has been decent so far.

I will mostly use the camera for vacation pictures. The camera on auto is easy to use. You have to really hold it still. The with and without flash option is helpful. The face recognition option doesn't always work. I think it has a problem identifying people who have no hair. I would prefer that it gave me a "focus box" on non-faces as soon as I start to use the camera rather than when I depress the shoot button half way. I often have to go back to refocus. Sometimes the zoom focuses right away, other times I have to depress the shoot button half way to get the zoom into focus. The on screen instructions disappear too quickly. I suppose once I know what they are, I'll think they stay on too long. The battery seems to get low even when I haven't taken very many pictures and the camera wasn't on too long.

I was greatly impressed by this camera's speed in all respects, but far more greatly disappointed by the horrible images it produced. Any shots taken above ISO 400 were horrendously noisy. Faces ended up looking like Picasso's and were barely recognizable. If you ever plan on looking at your pictures, save yourself the grief and do not by this camera.

I wanted a camera that allowed me to utilize its functions and take great pics in low light rooms (restaurants) but also allowed me to carry it around without being so cumbersome. After extensive research and recommendations I found this camera. It takes great shots and its functions are plenty. I saw sample pics from a blogger's site and was blown away. The blogger also posted his recommended settings, which has worked beautifully for me, on his site as well. All that information can be found here : [@]There are two things I dislike about the camera: 1) The time it takes for a picture to load after a snapshot; and 2) The HD video and sound is below average. Other than that for its price, it really can't be beat! If you're expecting to get great video recording out of this camera, don't get it. I would only use it for photography.

I purchased this camera primarily for family snap shots. Some of the pictures turned out impressively clear while others had variations in light and color. I did not consisently get high quality pictures even in the same setting. I have a sony that cost about half the price and takes equally as good a picture. The advantage of this camera is definitely the zoom but, the flash is not strong enough to accomdate much distance so unless you have excellent lighting the zoom does not produce superior photos.

Are you looking for a camera that captures images that are dark, light, dull, or bright? The Fine Pix F80 camera allows you to capture those important moments that count. For example, the zoom is excellent, capturing all aspects of the picture. Once you have read the manual and have gone through getting the camera ready, it is quite easy to use.
The little screen on the back of the camera gives you an accurate description of what you will be taking.
The camera is small, yet sturdy to hold.

I use this camera as a stand-in for Fuji Finepix S200EXR when I don't want to carry the bigger camera. The F80EXR is a good all round camera with many of the features of the S200EXR, notably the innovative EXR modes, and a wider 27 mm starting point for its impressive 10x zoom. When compared the F80EXR falls short of its bigger brother in noise reduction but still delivers crisp, saturated pictures.
