great for underwater photos although I would recommend taking multiple shots as the current and the subject matter tend to move so some shots may come out blurry due to movement, but overall the majority of shots were great. overall I really like the camera. I like the durability so if i drop it in the sand or drop it while hiking I don't have to worry about breaking it. great little camera.

Yes, it's tough.
Very difficult to operate, power button complicated to operate and most of all, terrible flash illumination. Photos with flash burn on one edge and look terrible.
The focusing is very poor and anoyingly slow. And battery life is very short.

I have only used this camera for a couple of days and it seems to take good pictures. Its not as good as my SLR but then again its not intended to be. Its smaller than I thought which is a good thing. I have taken both movies and pictures which both came out well. I have not tried it underwater yet but I have used it in the snow with no problem and good pics. Only complaint so far would be the small lag that it has when taking pictures. Maybe I'm just used to the SLR.

I use this camera diving every weekend. I love the fact it's water proof up to three meters and with the addition of the Ikelite housing, this little beauty really does go to new depths. Fantastic quality at a realistic price. You can't go wrong. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to a mate.

I have friends using this model camera underwater and the pictures are fantastic. But I have found the camera difficult to use. You have to unlock and open it exposing the battery and card every time you want to download your pictures. I had to remove the program that the 8010 downloaded onto my computer as it overrides other picture programs I use with various additional cameras I own. I still haven't been able to use the menu feature on the program to assist me in using the video filming option of the camera. I find it easier to leave this camera in the case and grab another for ease of use. I am very disappointed thus far but perhaps a few dedicated hours with the online manual or a visit to an Olympus store well improve my opinion. Online help via the website is not helpful. If you aren't in need of a waterproof camera, I wouldn't choose this model.

it will be used for all occasions. vacations, etc. needed a rugged camera. i love the underwater capabilities and hd video. it has some issues in dark lighting. in auto mode it does not always make the right settings

Pictures come out perfect!! Best camera on the market if you tear things up and break things. Wish they made a cell phone like this camera. Took this camera to Miami and to the Keys. Took live videos while kiteboarding and they came out perfect. Never rusted after dropping this camera into the ocean and still works perfect. What I would like to see in the next model is a deeper zoom. Faster frame snap shots when you hold down the take picture button. I'm sure it has good battery life compared to other cameras, but I would like to see longer battery life.

Got the 8010 to replace a 770sw. The 8010 takes longer to start up and is harder to get to focus quickly, which are big negatives in a point-and-shoot camera, and it is bigger than the old model. That said, I still love all the features that carried over from the older models (waterproof, shockproof etc), and I would recommend the camera overall.

I'm using the olumpus as a daily point and shoot and as an underwater camera.

As a point and shoot, it's fine, the panorama feature works nicely and you can control the ISO speed for low light situaltions. However the camera takes quite a while to turn on, and to move between shots so you are likely to miss some opportunities.

This is a great snorkling camera though I would not recommend it to divers. While you can chose from one of three underwater white balances that should work decently for surface shooting THIS CAMERA DOES NOT MANUALLY WHITE BALANCE unlike many other cameras in its class. This means you will not be able to capture vibrant underwater colors 10 meters and below.

For this reason if you are serous about underwater diving photography, don't bother getting this camera, opt for a canon or lumix with manual settings.

If you just want a point and shoot that's water resistant and tough, its a decent option...been snorkling with it 4 times and it hasn't leaked yet.

I bought this camera to use mostly outside, in dusty, harsh conditions to take photos as opportunities arise. also to use as a handy travel camera that you can hang round your neck and not have to worry about. For those purposes, it works very good. Inside buildings its not up to scratch. also no manual control, but I still have my Canon 30D to do the technical stuff with, so thats just nitpicking. also love the rechargeable battery. Read the whole manual!

I take this camera with me everywhere i go including work as an environmental consultant. the rugged features of this camera allow me to worry less about dropping it in dust water anything. Only thing i am not crazy about is the menu system, I originally had the olympus stylus 720 (I think) and i really like the layout of that camera.

The carmera is easy to use, quick when taking pictures, and charges very quickly. The pictures are evry high quality, and you can feel secure knowing it is very tough to damage. That means you are more likely to bring it along on outings and capture moments you wouldn't have before!

For casual family use, this is an exceptional camera.
Pictures were clear both above and below water.
Video capability is awesome underwater too.
We're using an 8 Gig card in it and it holds an incredible amount of photos and video.
I'd recommend this camera to anyone.

Mounted to my Sticky Pod, this camera has 90 minutes of video for driving. It can operate for many hours on a 32GB card, but every 90 minutes you must hit the record button. Since it's waterproof, you cannot connect power to it and record at the same time. It only operates on the battery with no external power source.
