I have to rate this camera against it's current competition. On this basis it's excellant, as it has great image stabilization, and it's lens is a bit faster at the longer focal lengths than the competition.
ISO 400 is very good.
It's usable at ISO 800 (you can get decent prints), though try setting on Saturation +1 and Noise +1 with fast ISO. Do not underexpose at high ISO, rather auto bracket, 0, -1/3, +1/3.
There is Less Chroma and Luminance noise than previous models, it actually out performs my FZ28 at High ISOs in it's own focal range, cleaner and higher resolution.
Intelligent Resolution is usable and useful for those who don't post Process, but you can get the same effect through Photoshop Unsharp mask at Global Contrast settings.
The AVCHD lite movie mode gives longer scene shooting times than the MOV setting, at half the memory.
The accompanying software PhotofunStudio disappoints as it awlays has, and conversion from AVCHD to MOV gives wrong perspective. However free converters downloadable from the Internet work well.
AVCHD takes more processing, and you either need computer dual core processing or conversion to MOV to watch the movies. But it's worth it.
Panasonic AVCHD is good, and software will be available everywhere to support it, it's time has come.
B+H also markets an excellant reasonably priced Software Video Editor (from Famous Japanese Company) that works very well with AVCHD editing.
The Color of the Blue Camera Body is no where near as nice as the deep Blue color and finish on the older TZ-5, it looks anodized and cheaper.
The Tripod socket is now centered and out of steel, and the camera balances well on even the smallest tripod.
If you want unsharp pictures with any Camera, take them one handed, but if you try to hold steady, and work with the image stabilzation, you will have nice pics out to 300mm equivalent. Nobody does this better than Pansasonic.
It's not a DSLR, and has the enormous depth of field of all point and shoots and I know of no camera with batteries that charge inside the camera.
I am getting more than 200 shots from a battery, and haven't flattened a battery yet, but it definitely discharges more quickly in use than older Lumix Models I have used. For this reason I have a 2nd battery for long shooting days of 400+ pictures, or for 100 minutes of Video.
The stereo Microphones are a real improvement, though noise levels are high in quiet conditions given the Automatic Gain Control. The camera could be improved with a firmware update to allow RAW (not much used by most) but even more by setable audio levels for video recording, disabling the AGC.
Manual focus mode ala FZ models would be useful to set a focus and lock that focus. Needs a remote shutter release.
Still this is the current best of breed, and a delight to use, and just that much better in every way than the earlier TZ5 to have made a delightful purchase. Well built, reliable, nice pictures, good value, great lens, good movies.
Thank you Panasonic for P/A/S/M modes. I am not a Lumix fanboy, given my investment in Nikon and Canon, but no one does "point and shoots" better than Panasonic.
I'm happy.

I bought this camera to take snapshots on travel, with GPS information.
GPS works well but receives locations at least 5 minutes apart, which means that locations can be off when the photographer is moving. While less than ideal, this is adequate for my needs. There are three GPS settings to control battery drain: Off, Airplane mode (i.e. on/off according to camera power switch), and On (which continues to receive locations even when the camera is off).
My second reason for buying this camera is the 12x lens with internal stabilization, which works really well. Even at extreme telephoto setting images are well stabilized and sharp. Perfect for traveling light!
The package includes a minimal printed manual, which doesn't explain all of the features. A more detailed manual is on the supplied CD-ROM, which seems OK to me.
However, this camera's 1/2.33" sensor size is too small to produce low noise images except in bright sunlight. Low light images show noise and artifacts from heavy noise reduction. Compact cameras with 1/1.7" sensors are noticeably better, although they are not much larger.
So, I can conditionally recommend this camera: It's great for travel snapshots, as long as you stick to brightly lit scenes and aren't bothered by merely adequate low-light images.

Use this product for the everyday life and trips.
Great pocket camera - light and very good shots and strong zoom for its size.
Amazing pictures during day light.
The camera is best value for money and I doubt if you can find any other camera which as good as this one for the same price...
the only con I can think about is a bit difficulty while takeing night shots so if this is your purpose maybe check the newer model..

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 (Blue) Digital Camera:
I researched extensively before buying the ZS7 and I'm not disappointed I did.
Some reviewers have complained about poor pictures in low light conditions... Ive recently been to yosemite with this camera and can testify this is not true. Of course if you compare it to a SLR camera you'll find the pictures are different quality but in its own camera category this camera excels.
Excellent pictures, good HD video, have had this camera for 2 weeks and don't regret buying it

I loved this camera so much I bought another one. I have a question though......if I turn the setting to scenery and then turn the camera in so I can take a picture of a tall tree (sideways) it blacks out. Is it supposed to do this?

I love this camera. I use it to take pictures of my young children. This camera takes beautiful pictures indoors and out. It is so fast that it keeps up with my kids. It is super easy to use in automatic setting, and has many settings if you choose. My friend that is a photographer was impressed with all the features for customizing. She wants one to carry when she doesn't want to bring her expensive professional gear. My family liked this camera so much that my parents bought one as well. This camera also replaced my Camcorder. It takes gorgeous HD video.

This camera has great flexibility for taking pictures using a variety of settings. The auto format is easy for point and shoot but other formats can be selected for specific needs. The telephoto lens is excellent and picture quality is superb. I am still experimenting with all the possibilities but it seems to have as much capability as I will ever need.

I bought this as a gift for my wife. She had her eye on it for a while and B&H was the best price. She used it the same day she got it at a Glee Live show with our daughter and when we watched the video and pix on our HD TV we were blown away. Awesome picture quality. And...
It's really easy for her to use - all features are an obvious click away and it limits the HOWDOYA? calls I get during the day.
Highly recommended.

Comments about Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 (Blue) Digital Camera:
I originally received this camera as a gift in June 2010, for trips to China and Australia. The camera was lost or stolen in May 2011, and I went out and bought the same one, even though there were newer models, because I had such a good experience with it. Most of my comments are based on the experience I had with the first camera, but I have taken enough with the second one to be sure that the first was not a fluke. The Leica lens takes fabulous pictures. My main criteria for choosing a camera were that it should be small and light, and that it should have as long a zoom as compatible with small and light. I know there are larger cameras with longer zooms - in fact, the person who gave me the original LUMIX has one - but I am always the person who had her camera with her. Others left theirs in the hotel or on the bus because it was too much trouble to carry bigger cameras around. The LUMIX has a great deal of flexibility, which I used to address a number of photo opportunities, from taking short movies of Chinese acrobats and Australian water-skiiers to extreme close-ups of flora and fauna. I am not a skilled photographer, so the Intelligent Auto setting was my mode of choice, and it quickly recognized changes in lighting or zoom that dictated revision of settings. The GPS feature came in handy in Australia -- providing an excellent record of where pictures were taken. (It almost never worked in China - either government suppression or simply lack of coverage by the appropriate GPS satellites.) I was able to enlarge some of the better shots to 16 X 20, even some that were taken with maximum zoom. Considering how often I used the zoom, out-of-focus, blurred pictures were very rare. I'm sure this is a testament to the camera's internal correction, not my steady hand.
Now, for the downsides:
1. It really needs a viewfinder. (It was on my short-list of criteria, but the only cameras with viewfinders are bigger than I was willing to carry.) There were many times when I just shot blind, because I had no idea what was in the picture and what wasn't. I even bought a cover film for the LCD screen, but it did little to cut the glare in full sun. A hood might have helped - I didn't try that.
2. The software to download the pictures from the camera requires the machine they are downloaded to to have a high enough screen resolution to show high def movies. I wanted to back up my pictures to my netbook while I was travelling, but couldn't use the direct cable to the camera even for the pictures. (Not a huge problem if you have an SD slot on the computer, which I did, saving the camera battery in the bargain.)
3. The battery is proprietary. I bought a second one, and two, fully charged batteries usually got me through a day, even with lots of zoom action, but it would be nice to be able to buy some AAs or other commonly available batteries.
4. The "scene" options and "Intelligent Auto" are easy to use, but the other setting are not intuitive, especially for someone who has not used a digital camera before.
5. It would be really nice if the GPS feature could be used to locate a lost or stolen camera. (I checked into this after the first one was lost and learned that it can't be "pinged" the way a phone can.)
Bottom line -- this is a great "everyday" camera. It served me well in a variety of settings and enabled me to take much better pictures than someone with my level of skill could normally take.

I was looking for a camera easy to bring with for travels, capable to capture pictures both for panoramic pictures and with powerful zoom, while delivering great pictures. Well, the Panasonic ZS7 does all that with an impressive 25-300mm zoom and excellent pictures both with daylight and at night. I just spend 4 days with it and I definitely do not regret my purchase at B&H, with great price [...]!And its substitute ZS10 is clearly not at the same quality level for pictures ...
