The Canon EOS to Nikon Adapter Ring is custom-made by Cinevate to allow any Nikon lens to fit on a Canon EOS camera, including the popular 5D MkII and 7D, both of which are as well-regarded for their video as their stills. Constructed of long-lasting chrome-plated brass, the adapter ring gives your Canon SLR access to a full line of quality optics, from Nikon's own topnotch lenses to such third-party stalwarts as the Zeiss ZF primes. With this simple adapter, you'll more than double your camera's optical versatility, while maintaining each lens' focal length and full focusing ability, from macro to infinity.

I have not compared this with other rings, but I feel confident this is the happy middle ground. You can get some for a bit less, but I've heard that they don't lock in place very well and then you can get some adapter rings for $100s. There's just no point. I am shooting all-manual, old Nikon primes. This is the way to go. I do wish that the red marker for the mounting point was more obvious. The first time I did it I mounted the lens wrong on the adapter and did a few things out of ignorance but figured it all out via trial and error. A simple instruction booklet would have been nice. I now own 4 to keep on all my Nikon primes.

The ring goes on easily enough (apply and turn and make sure it clicks). Also, make sure it stays. I've changed it out with several different lenses and each one goes in differently. you may have to test and retry to make sure it stays on. Also, when taking it off you really have to press down on the tab/button then turn it. When you turn it to take it off make sure you watch the tabs line up with the opening on the lens tabs. because if you go all the way it may just go under the next set of tabs and you feel like it's permanently locked in there. Line up the opening to the tabs and it will come free. Seems to be the biggest mistake alot of other reviewers are having. Takes a little getting used to, but should definitely not something to take you away from buying this product. Cheap and works great! Only grip I have is when it is on along with the lens you can feel and hear it moving around like it's not tight. Doesn't affect picture quality, but is annoying none the less. This is the only reason i gave it 3 stars rather than 4 stars.

MY NIKKOR 35mm f1,4 lens does not reach infinite focus on my new Cannon 7D using this adapter. It is a good fit and holds the lens firmly. Goes on smoothly too. Too bad it does not work. Maybe i can convert it into a macro system.

Comments about Cinevate Inc Canon EOS to Nikon Adapter Ring:
A lot of reviewers have remarked that the connection to the body with this adapter is loose - this is only true IF the lens is improperly attached to the adapter. When it is all said and done, the lens' aperture markings should line up with the top of your camera body. If they sit off to the side, the connection is NOT secure and you might end up twisting the lens off the adapter while adjusting the aperture.

I think it's perfect. especially in relation to cost. very economical. good because it allows us to use nikon lenses on canon. All the commands are only manual but I do filming and every manual control must be

I would say this is perfect, but it doesn't fit as snug as i would like it to. It fits tight to the lens, but not so tight to the camera body. I'm not worried about it falling out or anything. it just moves the slightest degrees when im focusing, but settles back to where you had it.

This little tool allowed me to use Zeiss primes with my Canon 60D for video and the look is stunning. When you screw it onto the lens, it's counterclockwise, and it doesn't really "click" when it stops, but you get the feel for it once you put it on. Then you put all that onto your Canon as you would normally, and away you go!

I haven't tried the more expensive adapter, but I don't see much of a reason to spend so much more. This Cinevate one works fine. There is a little wiggle in the connection, but I haven't had any light leaks so far, and I am very glad to be able to keep my favorite Nikon lens in use

Comments about Cinevate Inc Canon EOS to Nikon Adapter Ring:
I wish I had read enough reviews before the purchase. The adapter can mechanically connect Nikon AF-S lens to Canon 7D, but can't make electrical contact. So, there is no control of the lens through the camera body. No auto focus. No aperture adjustment. Without these functions, the usage of Nikon lens is very limited.

Buy the Fotodiox PRO adapter instead. This one has too much play when connected to the camera. Seems junky.

It's nice to be able to use lenses interchangably, but it is NOT a Tamron Adaptall. Too bad they stopped production.
Ideally if this were made with the electronics to fully sync it with the camera's metering system. I'd pay $much more$ for one that worked as if it were part of the lens and camera.
This one is OK for occasional use.

I was originally a Nikon equipment user until recently switching to Canon (5DMk2) because of the HD video. I purchased this adapted ring to utilize all my old full frame manual Nikon lens that have been sitting idle for the last several years. I went from using two (2) Canon zoom lens (24~105 & 70~300) to now utilizing an additional twelve (12) lens in my kit. I knew there was a reason for holding on to all my Nikon Glass and I am really glad that I did. Especially those older straight lens for shooting HD video. I didn't realize how much I missed using these old lens. This adapter ring is AWESOME !

The only reason I do not give 5 stars is because I Can not control the aperture on AE lenses, but... It is a great adapter, holds tight, and so far seems to be rigid enough to last me a couple of years. Good material, easy to set up, If you have a manual nikon lens, then this is the way to go in order to save some bucks.

Although this is way better than the cheap ones you find online, its still not amazing. For [$] its a good deal. If your serious get a novoflex.

Backpacking, Hiking for lanscape photography. The rings fit great on Canon body, yes its a little jiggly but only if you really crank the focus/iris ring like your the incredibly hulk. It's not just insert and twist, make sure the locking mechanism of the lens matches properly and locks in right. Once you lock the ring properly on the lens you can connect the camera body. You also going to need a ring for every lens, personally it's not the type of ring you want to interchange between lenses (if you own more than one nikon lens) I would definitely recommend it to a friend and am actually going to buy more of these for each of my lenses.

It's great to be able to go back and use lense I was using before the digital craze. A little loose but overall I am extremely happy with the product at such an affordable price. I do wish there was some way to lock the lens into the ring.

Comments about Cinevate Inc Canon EOS to Nikon Adapter Ring:
My purpose in buying this adapter was to allow the use of older Nikon lenses, which have totally mechanical focus mechanisms, to shoot video with a Canon 5D II. Of the 5 Nikon lenses I have, 1 wouldn't fit on the ring, and the other 4 fit, but there was play. For still images I suppose it's okay to have some play, but for video it is not acceptable. Weather turning the focus ring by hand or with a follow focus, the lens can shift a little, which appears as if someone bumped into the camera. I ended up spending over 200 on a used Novoflex adapter, a ridiculous price to pay for such a simple thing, but it works with all my Nikon lenses and there is no play. If you are looking for a cheap adapter for rare use, the Cinevate works, but if you want compatibility with all Nikon lenses and a firm connection between lens and body, find a different adapter.

Comments about Cinevate Inc Canon EOS to Nikon Adapter Ring:
I bought this Nikon lens to Canon 5D Mark II adapter so I could mount a vintage Nikon 50 F1.4 S non ai lens to my Canon. At first I didn't think it fit because it didn't quite sit over the top of the f-stop adjustment fork on the Nikon lens. When I realized that was the rub I just removed the fork, not sure that's what it's called, and it fit perfectly. When the lens and adapter are attached it has just a little play. That doesn't effect the image quality at all. Of course, the lens is all manual. I am really excited about the shots I am getting. I think the adapter will work on later model Nikon lenses but I have no experience there.

I am very happy with my new affordably priced Cinevate Canon EOS to Nikon adapter. Now I don't have to go out and buy new lenses for my EOS 7D, saving me hundreds of dollars. Its ingenious design and high-tech steel construction makes it durable and easy to use. I highly recommend this product to anyone like me who has Nikon lenses and wants to use them with their Canon EOS 7D.
