The Tiffen 77mm Digital Neutral Density Filter Kit is a complete set of filters to help you get better shots in bright light as well as assisting you with some special effect images.
Neutral Density filters have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. They enable the shooter to adjust exposure without affecting color balance. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film.
Determining which neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation takes knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Speaking generally, the 2-stop value (ND 0.6) effectively compensates average situations.

ND filters aren't something that everyone has in their bag of tricks, but they should be. In harsh light environments, (I'm in Phoenix, AZ)they offer the flexibility to adjust your shutter speed down without blowing out the image. It may seem like a small thing, but being at the mercy of a high shutter speed can really limit options. I use the filters in combination with a tripod when taking Architectural photos; the slower shutter speeds allow for people to pass through a shot as either a blur or not show up at all. Pretty handy when shooting in a public place, where you have no control over passing pedestrians (or cars). ND filters are also great for slowing the shutter speeds and creating blurred artistic photos - the most common example is a waterfall - it comes out as a soft cascade, rather than singular frozen droplets.

Covers the most needed range if you are shooting DSLR video. Better than using Cokin as these are glass and much more durable.
I bought these rather than a Fader ND (of various brands) because reports of image degradation and X patterns were so inconsistent. Also because this gives you multiple filters 1 stop apart, you have room to use more then one camera and adjust iso to suit the filter.
There is a slight green color cast that varies filter to filter. If you shoot video, you will need to white balance between changing or stacking filters.
A couple of the filters where not properly cleaned and had some kind of manufacturing chemical on them that needed to be cleaned off with windex.

Comments about Tiffen 77mm Digital Neutral Density Filter Kit:
Already used these to take some daylight long exposures and they worked like a champ. In the cold (35 degrees), I was fumbling around trying to screw one to another but then what filter ever screws together quickly the first time even in good weather?
I did find that having to stack the three filters that came in the kit on top of the UV filter I already had on my 24-70 F/2.8 caused me to see the outer most ring "vigneting" the final image. Unfortunately I didn't catch it until I got home. I suppose without the UV filter I could have gotten away with it, or at least the final ring wouldn't have protruded into the image area.
They seem sturdy enough, but I did notice that one of the three came with a smudge on the glass and all three showed signs of dust laying on the glass straight out of the carrier they're shipped in and there isn't even any cloth, or paper that was in the packaging that could have lead to the dust being in there from shipping. My guess is they got packaged from the factory dirty.
Cheap overall price and worth the money. I will probably also eventually invest in some graduated ND filters later, but these were a great start into letting me do what I wanted to.

Comments about Tiffen 77mm Digital Neutral Density Filter Kit:
Very good ND filter kit by Tiffen. I'd like this type of filter because it allows me to attach the lens hood onto the lens with filter in place. I only wish it could be graduated ND with rule of the third designed.

Nice glass filters. Build quality seems good. This kit is by far the best deal for good quality filters that I could find. The pouch is not so great, though. Its good enough to hold the filters, sure. But I don't like the way they can rub together when its being closed.

These filters perform as advertised. In addition, they allow me to open up my aperture in a bright, studio setting, allowing me to capture the narrow depth of field that I want.

3 well made ND filters. I use these mostly for photography and they work as advertised, the pouch is awesome to have when on the move and the NDs it comes with are the 3 I use most. I wish the kit included a polarizer, then I'd feel complete. There's an extra spot in the pouch so I guess I'll buy one on the side.
