The Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH Camera features a high-resolution 14.1MP CCD imaging sensor and an optically stabilized 5x UA (Ultra High Refractive Index Aspherical) zoom lens, which covers an equivalent focal range of 24-120mm without compromising the narrow profile Canon Digital EPLHs are known for. And for composing, reviewing, and editing your photos, the SD3500 IS features a bright 3.5" (461,000-dot) PureColor System Touch Panel LCD, from which you can set exposures using customizable icons and touch AF/AE controls.
In addition to a choice of 12 JPEG file sizes (including 2 @ 16:9) the SD3500 IS can capture HD 720p(1280x720) video clips (with monaural sound) up to 60 minutes (or 4GB per clip) as well as 640x480 @ 30 fps and 320x240 @ 30 fps for lower-resolution applications.
For fuss-free shooting, Canon's Smart AUTO mode automatically analyzes the scene and sets the best exposure based on 22 predefined shooting situations. For shooting under low lighting conditions, the ISO sensitivity of the PowerShot SD3500 IS can be dialed up to 1600, and when shooting in Low Light mode, expanded as high as an equivalent of ISO 6400.
Other image-enhancing features found on the Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS include a DIGIC 4 image processor, Intelligent Contrast Correction, Motion Detection Technology, Face Detection Self-Timer, Red-eye Correction, Advanced AF/AE/FE/WB Face Detection, and a Face Detection Self-timer that enables you to get your own happy face into family portraits.
The Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS records images onto your choice of SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, MMC Plus Card, HC MMC Plus memory cards (up to 16GB) and powers off a rechargeable NB-6L lithium-ion battery, which is good for about 220 images-per-charge, or about 5 hours of playback time.

I had used Canon Digital ELPHs from the time they were first released, but a few years ago, I decided to try the Panasonic Lumix because it had the Leica lens and HD video (the latter of which Canon hadn't yet offered).
I enjoyed the Lumix, and the HD video was fantastic, but after a little over 2 years the display stopped working correctly, leading to a $195 repair. Instead, I opted to return to the Canon -- since they've now added the HD video -- and bought this beauty.
The touch screen takes some getting used to (probably less so if you're an iPhone user), but it's pretty awesome to have the entire back of the camera dedicated to display. The image stabilization and other essential features are top notch. My only complaint is that the buttons, which have been moved to the top of the body, are extremely close together, so when I want to press the "Review" button, I often hit the "Power" button, and vice versa. And I've got relatively small fingers.
Otherwise, it's yet another spectacular camera from the always impressive folks at Canon.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Black):
I was having an excellent experience with this little camera until ALL of the touch screen functions failed after only 25 pictures which was most frustrating. Fortunately I was not on a trip and was able to replace the SD3500 within 2 hours of discovering the problem at the local camera store.
I really like the camera and find all of the controls on the touch screen extremely easy to use. I think my SD3500 had a failure with microchip or something like that and I hope it does not repeat itself. I have not read any reports of this problem. The first 25 pictures were excellent and I liked all features.
I am looking forward to lots of fun photography and highly recommend it.

I love this camera! I haven't had a chance to get a lot of use out of it, but from the pictures I've taken so far I like everything about them! I wasn't so sure about the touch screen right away. I thought it would be a little bit touchier than it is, but it will just take some getting used to. Before this camera, I had a Nikon coolpix, and so far I like this canon so much more!

This is a great little camera from Canon. I've always been a fan of Canon's digital line, and this little guy is no exception. The touch screen is the entire back panel, making for one of the biggest display's I've seen, let alone in such an overall small camera. The processor is fast and quick to adjust to changing light and focus points. The automatic face detection is fantastic, and 'AUTO' mode handles pretty much every shooting mode on its own. You don't even need to think to use this camera! I highly recommend this one if you can still get it!

I've had it for a couple of weeks and have loved every minute of it. The touch screen takes some getting used to, but it's so crisp and clear. If you have a smart phone, you'll get used to it pretty quickly.
I've used several different settings that are new to me, such as the Indoor and Low Light modes. I've gotten such amazing images by using those, as opposed to my last camera (Canon SD550). I can suddenly see why people online are getting better pictures without editing...a better camera.
I highly recommend this camera. The image quality is stellar and the features are out of this world.

I am still figuring out all the features, but I was pleasantly surprised when I took a Few video clips at a concert I went to. The audio wasn't great, but not too bad, but the picture quality was amazing. I was very impressed. It's a great camera!

I am an automotive inspector and take on average 200+ pictures a day. I needed something that was compact, easy to use, good image quality, and that had an available water proof housing(for rainy days). This camera is great right out of the box. The Auto feature is amazing especially for the macro shots. I have been using a PowerShot Pro 1 for the last 5 years, and this SD3500 is really comparable to what I have. Overall a real good camera for the value.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Black):
This is my point and shoot camera, I have a more advanced unit for when I get serious. But this is a pretty serious camera itself.
This unit is super easy to use and intuitive with it's touchscreen technology.
Very compact and user-friendly. Fast from start up to first picture.
Good in low light. With image stabilization, often no flash is needed.
Manual mode is feature rich and also very intuitive to use.
The wide angle (28 mm equivalent) is a vast improvement over my last PowerShot's 35 mm. That little bit makes a huge difference. You sacrifice on the telephoto end slightly, but with 14 MP you can post process and get all you need out of the images. Images are sharp throughout the zoom range with minimal barrel distortion.
Love being able to change the focus by simply touching a different place on the touchscreen - and the new place pans with the camera if you move from side to side, or up and down! (amazing)
The only negative that I can think of is this has no viewfinder like my last Canon PowerShot. But the big screen LCD is nice.
Also, the flash is a bit weaker than my last PowerShot, so for night time group shots, or deep shots, you need to take this into consideration.
A lot of my pictures get published on my websites, and this is great because with 14 MP I can do a lot of post-processing and still retain great image quality for web or printing.
Overall this camera is amazing, much better than expected.

Excellent camera, but am just learning to use it. Unfortunately it was not working when I first tried it after leaving NY, too late to exchange, and this camera has not yet been sent to Europe...After a couple of pros weere unsuccessful, I found that 1 of 3 contacts at the bottom of the battery compartment was not in its place, and I moved it slightly with an orange stick, and I THINK I've solved the problem !

This is my 3rd Canon camera and I wouldn't buy any other brand because this is the best I ever got. Even the best Sony point and shoot cameras can't be compare to any of the Canon cameras, even the cheaper ones, especially for nightime shooting.
The pictures are so clear, even at low light. The only thing I don't like is the touchscreen, maybe I'm used to the real buttons, or the super sensitive touchscreen of the Iphone. This one I have to tap a bit harder on it or it won't react, it's just a bit hard to use. But the pictures are nice and clear on the screen. That's the only complain I get about it, everything else is super great!!!
