I ordered this product because I was not satisfied with the Hoodloupe 3.0, and didn't quite want to pay for the Z-Finder.Three major things made it worlds above the Hoodloupe: Eyecup: This doesn't sounds like a big deal, but after using the Hoodman for a short period of time, but my left and right eyes were sore from straining. The LCDVF has a large rubber eyecup and ships with an eye chamois. Very, very comfortable. Again, doesn't sound huge, but really makes a difference.Magnification: The Z-Finder with 3x magnification is awesome, no doubt. But for much cheaper, the 2x magnification still does and excellent job of helping find focus. The hoodman, with no magnification, caused a lot of straining. Mounting: The straps of the Hoodloupe broke within 2 minutes of putting them on. Way to cheap, what were they thinking? I also used the Hoodloupe in conjunction with my eye spy deluxe, using redrock's loupe accessory kit. But the time I had adjusted the diopter to fit my perfect vision, the mount did not hold the Hoodloupe tightly to the screen. It would slip sideways and light would leak through. The magnets feel very secure against the frame of the LCDVF, and allow me to pull off the loupe quickly, unlike the Hoodloupe with the redrock accessory.I did like the rubbery exterior to the Hoodloupe. The outside of the LCDVF is plastic, and feels cheap. Not a deal breaker though. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the lack of diopter. I have perfect vision, so it doesn't matter to me, but can see how it would be helpful to others. The lack of a diopter adds to the simplicity of the product. Less things to break. For 50 bucks more, much better than the Hoodloupe.

Attempted some video on my 7D without an LCD viewfinder and finding consistent focus was impossible. This was a godsend until I took it outside to shoot at an airshow. On the second day the outdoor temp got into the high 80's, the adhesive on the frame let go. The frame hit the beach just like a PBJ hits the floor, sticky side down, the adhesive really liked the beach sand. The Blue Angels come again in 2 years.

If diopter adjustment is important to you, this is not the right product.
Also some noticeable chromatic aberration.
For the price cannot expect much more

Perfectly meets all my needs for shooting in daylight. The magnification makes the LCD so much easier to see, I use it any time I need precise focus. I can't understand how I've been shooting so long with out it.

This is a great product that helps me bring the LCD into view without light distractions. I can find the proper focus much easier with this attached. Make sure you clean off the LCD screen before using this product because it lets you see every little detail.

Fits my needs
It's easy to attached to camera, you don't need to buy separate metal frame because it comes with two, (one spare, or for the second camera).
It's not the best view finder, I've seen better 5x magnification, but other is much bigger and not really what I was looking for.
Comments about LCD Viewfinder LCDVF Digital SLR Viewfinder:
if you have reasonably good eye sight then you don't need a diopter on something like this, the pros are it's ABS plastic (no weight) it's cheap and value for money.

I confirmed others evaluations that this product would be great with a diopter adjustment. You need perfect near vision. For my eyes, I had to hold it 1/2 inch over lcd to focus. I returned it.

Comments about LCD Viewfinder LCDVF Digital SLR Viewfinder:
The LCDVF is very easy to install, the magnet frames work perfectly, and the viewfinder by itsel seems solid enough. But I just realised the lack of dioptric settings makes it nearly unusable for me and my old eyes in low lights. Need to buy a pair of glasses !

I use this about 3 to 4 times a week for asignments that include video. Best use; when shooting under direct sunlight
Good things: Its lightweight, does its job, nice fit to the backplate, the padded included eyepiece is very comfortable
Not so good: Price (was expecting something a bit different for a piece thats >$100
The neckstrap just broke off a couple of days ago (its cheaply stitched)
Adjustment for eyeglasses users would be a great improvement

Comments about LCD Viewfinder LCDVF Digital SLR Viewfinder:
I had a a hard time deciding on a viewfinder. I would have liked a 3 times magnification But went for this one because it is so much more affordable.
I'm glad I did. I have perfect eyesight and when I attached this viewfinder to my camera I instantly knew 2 times magnification is plenty. In fact 2 times magnification Is enough for me to start seeing the pixels on the LCD, If the viewfinder was magnified three times the picture would become to pixelated and the extra magnification would not be of any benefit in judging optimal focus while filming. This viewfinder gives you a perfectly sized picture that allows you to see the whole frame when shooting a movie, but is large enough for pixels to just become recognizable. Optimal for judging focus while filming.
The eyepiece and cushion are very comfortable. The Viewfinder attaches to the camera nicely and completely seals off any light from entering. The Picture is very clear, sharp and in focus.
If you have perfect eyesight do not hesitate, This viewfinder is optimal for your needs.
Unfortunately this viewfinder does not have a diopter so if you wear glasses you will have to chose another with a diopter or wear contact lenses.

I purchased the Viewfinder so I could check my images quickly in daylight conditions. I quickly realised that it had become much easier to focus the camera when using the live view mode for HD video. It also is very easy to use with my spectacles and I can focus both eyes on the viewfinder rather than just one eye.

Works well aside from the magnets falling out after only a few uses. Had to superglue them back in.

I had purchased the Zacuto viewfinder in the past... I'm glad I returned it to find the LCDVF at a 1/4 of the cost. Mounting it to the camera was simple and loving the magnetic mount. Worth every penny.

Comments about LCD Viewfinder LCDVF Digital SLR Viewfinder:
I use this viewfinder with my 7D handheld, or tripod. If anybody reading this that is just getting into Video with their DSLR, and you think you can get by without one of these or a different make, you are fooling yourself. I have had mine for almost a year. Only complaint is that I sometimes forget that its just a magnet holding it to the camera, and I apply too much pressure and it falls off. But thats user error! The good side to that is that attaches quick in a hurry. The sticky on the back of the magnet that attaches around your LCD, came unglued. I decided to use red double tape and a razor to cut an outline of the magnet and attach it that way to my lcd. Perfect. It's not as pretty, but it works well. Thumbs up!

Does a good job. Nice and comfortable. Seems to stay secure. A lot cheaper than the Zacuto, but still too expensive for what it is. But maybe that's because I'm a poor African.

I've tried the Zacuto Z-Finder 3x before and really liked it. This one is somewhat simplier, but well made and very easy to use.
The 2x magnification is great and it's really possible to judge focus in most situations (better than with a Ikan vl7 monitor).
Lacks the Zacuto diopter adjustment, but I find the mount much easier. Requires the frame to be glued on the lcd screen (no problem for me).

Comments about LCD Viewfinder LCDVF Digital SLR Viewfinder:
While it is in fact better than shooting video without, all it does is magnify each LCD "pixel" and they are not fine enough to give a smooth image with easily observed lines of focus. Close-up shooting is okay but forget about trusting your focus at a distance - that small, sweet spot between 8 ft. and infinity is impossible to judge. I get it as close as it appears to get and I don't know if I succeeded until I get the images processed at home. Frankly, it's maddening and I am constantly moving the image in and out of focus. And, really, no diopter??? Hopefully this will do until I can afford something better.

I shoot documentary film and this thing lets me get the best shot REALLY fast. I actually prefer this to the Zacuto viewfinder because of the magnetic attachment. It's lightning fast for me to attach, adjust, remove and shoot. Also, it adds another point of contact for stability. I can't say enough good things about this viewfinder. Just buy it.
