I bought this on a budget and am very happy. I got it for [$] which is great for 1080. It is 1080i, but it doesn't bother me. The one thing I didn't notice until AFTER I bought it is that it is 1080i @ 25 fps or 720p @ 60 fps. I doubt it would make much of a difference though.The battery I got [...], but more are available. Wish I had known. Of course the 3rd page in the manual lists the models, so you don't really know until you get it. And even then some batteries from other sites may not fit correctly.Overall, this camera is everything I had hoped. Was perfect for bringing my 3 yr old to Disney.- Small and light weight, yet powerful- !!!GREAT!!! zoom. We couldn't get good seats @ the parade, but with 16x OPTICAL zoom, I could fit their face in the whole frame. I could see their exact facial expressions.-Auto button is awesome, auto adjusts wonderfully.-Camera operating software looks well made, camera's not jerky and not much lag when switching modes or doing things.-Included computer software well made, user friendly. Haven't used much but lots to do.-MANY things you can do with the video in included software. Things like chopping out parts.-Built in light on front of camera.-Microphone works well and has wind-cancelling software.Cons:-Storage...depending on which 1080 setting, you get about 2-3 hours out of 16GB. However, this is 1080.-Low light looks SD, not HD. Outside in broad daylight, you can count the blades of grass. Inside with a few lights (including the cam light) isn't anything to brag about.-Battery life. The included battery is about 1-1.5 hours. The $50 battery i got is about 2-2.5 hrs.-Poor still imaging.Overall, for $350, you can't beat this. Just be sure to get extra memory (SD cards, at least class 6 or so, otherwise I hear it has to buffer, which could cause you to miss some good footage).If you want to take stills while shooting video (sounds like a good thing), it's not. You have to push and hold the button, which jerks the camera & video, and for all that, the image STINKS. Better off to shoot the video and go back into it in "playback mode" and THEN pick stills outta the (1080i) video. Took me a bit to figure that out.

I am not tech savie and this camcorder is very easy to use. Great video shots, even in low light environments. Light weight and small in size, fits easily into purse. Zoom is fantastic. It's great the way you can control the speed of the zoom. Very good image stabilization.

First camcorder, so not an expert. For my casual use this camcorder meets expectations in terms of ease of use, quality, and value. I like the fact that it has 16GB internal, plus the ability to add more through the SD slot.

I'v had this camcorder for about a month now and love it. It may say it has a 16x zoom but you can change the zoom power to 40x or even a 1000x. It come with many fetures that you can play around with. Also comes with 4 defferent setting of high definition. HA1920, HG1920, HX1920, and HE1440. ALL GOOD PICTURES. On the lowest setting of definition witch is HE1440, I recored the Nationwide race at the Glen and turned out awsome.
The only complaints I have is the battery life and the light that comes installed. The longest battery life I have gottin with it is an hour and 28-33 minutes. The light is only good for about 15-20 feet away, an ok light. When takeing photoes I have not problems. Nice, clear and flash is good. Well worth the money.

I bought this as a gift for my brother-in-law. Price was excellent, and features were very good, but the video quality was quite poor indoors, even on a sunny afternoon with all the curtains open. Video noise was very obvious, and outlines seemed quite soft. We returned the camcorder and will try a Canon Vixia HF-R100 next.

Simple to use. Great videos. Very compact unit with more features then the occasional user will ever need or use, but are there should you want them.

I have been pleasantly surprised with this camcorder's performance so far. Very compact in size. You could easily fit it into a pocket or purse and it wouldn't be that noticeable. Great features like a touch screen (that works well) and already has 16Gb on the cam itself.
I am planning on purchasing a 32 gb sdhc card for plenty of extra film time. 16x optical zoom is good enough for me, I thought that was the only feature that was lacking when I ordered.

You definitely should purchase a hdmi-mini to hdmi cable so you can hook it up to you hdtv. They have good cables on b+h for about $16.

Bottom line you can't go wrong with the price.

I use this to video my children dancing and for other events. I get a good picture. We got the camera so we could videotape our children and then quickly send it out to the grandparents.

If you are a casual user and looking for hi-def digital camcorder but unwilling to pay for a hefty price tag, then this is an excellent choice.
The camcorder also very easy to use, especially for somebody like me who hates reading manual. Picture quality is surprisingly good for its price. Definitely good for a typical casual user.

I've only used this a few times, but I'm very pleased so far. Lots of features, a powerful zoom and the size is very compact...it can fit in my pocket.

I was looking at a Flip camera, but this has a more powerful zoom and the screen tilts all the way around, so you can even see yourself as you film.

I loaded the enclosed software and it uploaded very quickly. I've had great luck with Panasonic products and this looks like another winner.

So far so good. Have only played around a little with it but the image quality seems great. They don't include a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable (for connecting directly to your TV); they include a component video hookup instead. Also, it's 1080i not 1080p (just pointing that out, no huge deal at this price point).

This was a great camcorder to take on vacation.I did most of my shooting in daylight so the pictures came out perfectly clear. The shots in low light was the only thing I did not like about this camcorder. But for the price I can live with that.I did a fair amt of research and if you need to shoot in low lighting situations, it's going to cost you a lot more than 250.00

Great travel camcorder, small but not too small to operate easily. Many manual features.
16x zoom with OIS is usable.
Internal flash memory is nice, no need to purchase a SD card.
Picture quality is good while there's adequate light. In dim light the picture quality gets muddy just like every other inexpensive camcorder.
