Sanyo's VPC-CG20 Dual Camera (Black) is an affordable way to capture 1920 x 1080i HD video and 10MP stills. In addition to high def video quality the CG20 also offers up a pistol grip design, flash memory recording options, and user-friendly creative control features.

The VPC-CG20 records to Eye-Fi wireless SD cards. Eye-Fi lets you send your JPEG videos and stills to your Bluetooth enabled computer for instant transfer of files. The camera is also compatible with SD/SDHC cards and high capacity SDXC memory cards that can hold more than 64GB worth of data.

When it comes to controlling the camera the VPC-CG20 features a 2.7" LCD display that rotates up to 285 degrees. Other functions such as 5x optical zoom and super-fast start-up ensure that you get those far-off subjects and spur of the moment shots.

Creative controls such as Face Detection and Object Chaser Technology give you the tools you need to take better photos and videos without having to go to film school. In addition to these features other considerations such as a sequential photo mode and simultaneous video and still capture provide other useful ways to make the most of your experience.

MPEG4 AVC/H.264 Video Compression
This feature optimizes the file size and makes sharing movies on social networking sites, or emailing them to friends and family, easy
SDXC Memory Compatibility
While the CG20 works with standard SD memory, and more high capacity SDHC memory cards, it is also fully compatible with the next generation SDXC memory cards. The CG20 can record more than 64GB of content to SDXC memory cards. This dramatically improves your ability to record and transfer hours and hours of Full HD 1080 videos to a computer. You can also play CG20 Full HD 1080 videos stored on SDXC cards on your high definition TV
Eye-Fi Compatibility
The CG20 features enhanced Eye-Fi compatibility. This Dual Camera will automatically recognize the Eye-Fi wireless SD card when it is inserted. The CG20 also has "smart power" on board which allows the cameras to control the Eye-Fi function and provide power management, automatically shutting the card off when not in use
5x Optical Zoom
The CG20 features an optical zoom that magnifies photos and video images up to 5x their normal size
2.7" LCD Screen
The display flips out from the camera and rotates up to 285 degrees on an axis that allows you to take great video or still images from otherwise-difficult-to-view positions, proving to be especially useful when shooting in confined spaces
10MP Still Image Quality
In addition to Full HD 1080 Video the CG20 captures amazing 10 megapixel photos
Video and Photo Image Stabilizer
The CG20 features a new photo stabilizer. This technology actually takes two photos at the same time; one at a faster shutter speed and one at a slower shutter speed. The camera combines the benefits of both of the shutter speeds, resulting in an image that has less blur and less noise

Using a proprietary Sanyo algorithm, the CG20 automatically compensates for distracting up-and-down or side-to-side camera movement, keeping your video and photo subjects steady and easy to follow. It accurately distinguishes between unintentional camera shake and deliberate camera movement. This handy feature operates in both wide-angle and telephoto modes

Capture Still Images While You're Shooting Video
The CG20 enables simultaneous shooting of video clips and still images with a simple press of the shutter button during the shooting of a movie clip. You will never need to miss another precious photo opportunity 1
High Speed Sequential Photo Mode
This camera features a sequential "photo" shooting mode. When the user selects this mode the camera will take multiple photos in sequential order; providing multiple photos frames. The perfect solution for action photography
Video and Photo Face Detection
The CG20 utilizes specialized video and photo face detection technology. This feature recognizes multiple subjects' faces and optimizes focus/aperture settings to ensure each individual is in focus
Easy Playback of Recorded Video Directly on a TV
The CG20 camera features a mini-HDMI output which makes connecting it to a Digital TV or DVD Recorder a breeze. The CG20 can also easily be connected to a computer to back-up copies of recorded content via the handy USB 2.0 connection. Still images and video clips are played back continuously and in chronological order. When connected to a PC, simple drag-and-drop operation makes it easy to save recorded video clips and still images onto a computer's hard disk for emailing, editing or archiving
Super-Fast Start-Up
Reduce your chance of missing the perfect shot. The Dual Camera CG20 is designed for super fast start-up and shooting. With its tapeless design, the CG20 eliminates the need to queue up a video tape, allowing it to begin shooting in as little as 1.7 seconds. When the CG20 is powered on, closing the LCD display puts it in standby mode. Simply open the display and the CG20 automatically powers up and can begin immediately recording in as little as 1.7 seconds
High Capacity Lithium-Ion Battery
The DB-L80 is a high capacity battery designed to work with the Sanyo Dual Camera CG20 camera and delivers approximately 70 minutes of video record time. High-energy density design minimizes the battery size and weight, making it perfect for use in the CG20. It designed to resist memory accumulation so it provides a full charge every time
Object Chaser Technology
The CG20 is capable of "object chasing"; a feature which allows you to maintain proper lighting and focus on objects in motion. This is a great way to capture video of family members and pets on the move
Windows 7 Compatible
The CG20 is fully supported by the latest Windows OS, "Windows 7", further expanding its capabilities. The video files are displayed in the same thumbnail format as still picture files. They can also be played back directly with Windows Media Player, are editable with Windows Live Movie Maker, and are Device Stage compatible. This makes the files even more convenient for use on computers

Good video 1080p/i HD video. The main reason i bought it is the 1cm macro that allows you to make interesting footage of flowers, your eyeball close up or capture the detail texture of your skin. As for the camera, the jpeg compressed images are bad in most case, making a 10mp camera outputting 5mp image. iso50 images are acceptable, the rest are quite noisy. With the 1cm macro you can take interesting images that other camera couldn't. If you are just using the images for your video then they are fine. Image stabilzation works to a certain extend when you hold the camera still. It does not work when you pan the camera.A sample of video i took using the camcorder:[@]For the price of [$] i say it is a good deal for a HD camcorder. The key reason i got it was for the optical zoom lens and 1cm macro. Fix focus give less hassle as you don't get blur images due to focus hunt but i prefer to have some control over the zoom and focus after having use a fix focus camcorder for a while. There is some built-in software noise compression but to avoid the wind noise i velcro a piece of furry fabric over the mic and with that i did not pic up any wind noise outdoor. I tried the same trick on a toshiba camileo s10 but that camcorder still pick up wind noise. The key question is do you have the computer hardware to edit the 1080i footage. People have asked me if it is mac compatible, the answer is to get the free mpeg streamclip software to do your conversion before editing on your have on your mac. Battery life is the main problem. It is pretty short and not suitable for taking events. Get more battery or get a 5v dc adaptor. If the battery life is 3x longer it would deserve a 5* for a casual user HD camcorder.

When I was shopping around for camcorders, I was looking for something I could easily Vlog (video blog) with. I needed something where I could see myself while being very portable and light. The Sanyo did just that but I was very disappointed in the video quality. I ended up buying the canon elph 300 instead and I am really impressed by the video quality. Although I am not able to see myself, the camera does have a very wide angle lens and always is able to capture my face.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CG20 Dual Camera (Black):

I took this on a week long hiking trip in Alaska/Yukon and the images turned out fantastic.

            Audio was better than expected.

Battery did not last long shooting in FULL HD. I brought two with me on the trip and they were both depleted by the end of the third day.

It does not charge via USB ~ Solar chargers (most power via USB) are not useful for this camera and long periods away from ACpower.

Full HD .mp4 clips into Final Cut Pro 6 - a bit of an issue. Does not recognize the card structure for log and transfer and simply imported clips need to be rendered.

Overall.. a fun little camera if you're going to use a simple editing software like iMovie.

Does not include a hand strap.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CG20 Dual Camera (Black):

A great little camera, I owed videos since 1983, since then I had spent lots of money on expensive video cameras but was never as pleased as now. Color and resolution are as good as from professional cameras. Still pictures are great too. Get one and you will be happy too.
On the down side. Battery compartment should be made more secure to prevent from battery falling out. Needs time to get used to, It is a little to small for a plumber's hands.

Great for casual/home video/quick travel use. The quality for the cost/size is excellent, image quality is quite acceptable except in low-light. Image stabilization is not the best; depending on what you are using it for, picking up a tabletop tripod may go a long way.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CG20 Dual Camera (Black):

good device, no complaints about the resolution although the preloaded (internal) memory is not really sufficient. You'll have to buy an external memory the moment you try to record in HD. The design of the device doesn't really permit you to hold it steady enough while clicking pics. Doesn't include a carry case. Overall very happy with it....considering the price. Received it as a gift.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CG20 Dual Camera (Black):

Bought this product in time to use it at Disney World. After getting some settings figured out, namely turning off the photo and video noise reduction and not using the 1080/60i video mode for general video usage everything looks great. Used it for night time fireworks which also looked good. My only complaint is that in order to get a level picture I need to turn the camera ever so slightly to the right which seems off center to me. Not sure if this is my model or a camera quirk but am looking at getting a replacement. Battery life is not great but reading comprehensive reviews for ultra-compact cameras this is normal.

I use the product to take general photography and videos of thr family. I also use it to photograph.video my friends and the Civil War reeinactments I attend. Easy to learn and easy to use, it met all my expectations. The kit is a marvelous idea giving you space for more than you will generally need right at your fingertips. Top Marks for this one. It also came right on time. Love it. Only drawback is that it doesn't work as well in low light levels.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CG20 Dual Camera (Black):

I have run this camera through some tests since receiving it. The audio is very good, the video is very good. I found that shooting high speed action at 1920x1080 30p can overwhelm the sensor and cause distortion, but then we are talking about a [$] camera. It shoots a bit cyan, easily color corrected in software. When set to center point focus I saw the focus wander for just a moment shooting a talking head. I am impressed. For a funky little [$] flip camera it does a much better job than I expected. Sanyo, I'm gonna give you a closer look in the future.

Comments about Sanyo VPC-CG20 Dual Camera (Black):

I wanted a small video camera that I could use to capture family activities -smaller/easier than the old video-tape type cameras. This is a great option for the price. It is pretty easy to use and the video quality looks great. Likewise it takes really nice pictures, too.

The things that I'm not so crazy about - what you do with the video afterwards. I was hoping to easily transfer video to my computer which can be uploaded. Technically, it does that, but it brings it in as a quicktime video- I was hoping for something I could edit w/ windows movie maker. Also, unless i just dont understand how to use it, it seems that every time you start/stop a video - it makes a new file - cant seem to figure out how to just 'pause' one video. Lastly, I found it a little odd that there was no instruction manual included - you have to plug the camera into the computer and then it will connect to the web and product manual - I found that a little goofy.

I use the camera for family videos. The picture is great. Really sharp. Have to learn to hold it more steady though because it is so light it is easy to not hold it so steady. I haven't found the snapshots as good as my digital camera. Picks up sound great. Any HD camera you need a really fast computer to see HD videos which I don't have. Even a dual core 3g ram isn't fast enough and video jerk but videos are great on the TV. Have to buy a program to copy the pictures & make them smaller so I can see them working without jurking. I am going to save the great HD videos I have so when I get a computer that can handle them I can see them in a great quality videos. Disappointed in cover for card. Worry that could break but otherwise it is a great camera for the money. You don't get a handstrap for around wrist which is crazy because they give you a cover for lens and cord for you to attach the lens cover to the handstrap. I couldn't believe that. I must say I have only used it for a little over a week.
