Hoodman EX1 Kit Pro
The Hoodman EX1 Kit makes it easy to turn your EX1 LCD screen into a viewfinder for excellent outdoor performance. This kit includes the HoodLoupe 3.0, engineered with German glass optics to give you a true 1:1 LCD screen image, a HoodRiser Attachment which enables the HoodLoupe to fit the outer edges of your 4" (10.2 cm) EX1 LCD screen bezel for full screen viewing, and a neoprene camcorder mount strap which securely mounts the HoodLoupe to the EX1 LCD screen. Rounding out this kit is the HoodMAG 3.0, an eyepiece upgrade from the standard one included with the HoodLoupe 3.0. It provides 3x magnification and a tight seal to keep out ambient light.

A good viewfinder in shouldermount operation is a problem with the popular new Sony PMW-F3. I wanted to keep things light and simple so I tried out the Hoodman EX1 kit. It is not the most beautiful solution but it works. The occular comes a bit too much to the rear so I need to put extra weight in the back of my rig. Unwanted reflecions on the insider sides of the viewfinder are more than for example in Sacuto's VFs. It is a cheap alternative to consider before switching to EVFs.

I have always struggled to use the standard EX1 viewfinder and have never been happy with it. The HoodLoupe kit provides an amazing image making it much easier to focus and control my video.

I bought this unit for my Nikon 300s. As I wear glasses and the unit is not adjustable it is impossible to focus. The need for a diptor was not pointed out to me when I bought it. If you wear glasses DON'T buy this product.
