Comments about AKG Perception 120 USB Condenser Microphone:
My first impression was with the feel and weight of the box. Even before I opened it it just said 'quality'. Solidly built product which is being used by my son in his 'studio' in the corner of his bedroom. He is raving about it as it's his first piece of kit that didn't get borrowed from a cheap karaoke machine or some such. Easy to set up and set the levels for his Garage Band recording sessions. This could end up costing me a lot of money now he's had a taste of the good stuff but I'm happy to support him in with what he's passionate about. I'd definitely recommend AKG products based on my experience with this mic.

Comments about AKG Perception 120 USB Condenser Microphone:
AKG Acoustics GmbH is famous for producing microphones of the highest quality, and the competitively priced Perception 120 USB is no exception.
It is a plug and play appliance that requires only setting the Input levels and resetting the Output device in Apple OS-X's sound System Preferences. By trial and error, I found that setting the Input and Output volumes to about 20 percent and 100 percent respectively produced a clear initial recording. Rumble and wind noises etc. can be markedly reduced by switching on the Bass-cut selector, especially when speaking close to the microphone. A higher Input volume could be adopted in a room with less ambient noise than mine, which has a fan and an open window in a tropical environment.
In OS-X, a new audio recording can be made using Quicktime Player, Wire Tap Studio, Amadeus Pro or Garageband, with the latter three programs providing a range of editing and conversion options. However with Soundtrack Pro, recordings can be edited, tweaked and normalized, either destructively or non-destructively, to produce remarkable studio quality output.
