The Sony CBK-WA01//C Wi-Fi Adapter, when used with the CBK-UPG01 hardware key or CBKZ-UPG01 upgrade software key, offers wireless LAN capability to PDW-500, PDW-700, and PDW-F800 camcorders.
By enabling the XMPilot metadata workflow, the Wi-Fi adapter (in conjunction with the key) allows the camera to stream proxy-quality video and audio, as it is captured, to a dedicated application on a laptop computer or smartphone via Wi-Fi. From the device, metadata can be added to the video.
Note:
This requires the CBK-UPG01 hardware key (for PMW-500) or CBKZ-UPG01 upgrade software key (for PDW-700 & 800) to unlock the camera's Wi-Fi capability. For the PMW-500, this capability will also require an upgrade to XDCAM Browser software 1.1, which will be available at the end of 2011.
