The browser is really slow..not very useful, but everything everything else is great. This is not an Ipad or other all-in-one device. If you are looking for an e-book reader this is a great choice. You can read several formats plus watch videos. display photos and listen to you MP3's. I ripped a couple DVD movies to AVI format. They play smoothly and look decent. Not top of the line resolution, but very good. Mpeg4's did not play as well, the audio and video would somtimes get out of sync. I have used this reader to get Epub books from the public library and it works great. The LCD is not straining on my eyes. I turn the brightness to the lowest setting for reading. Any e-reader will let you read books, why not get one that is more of a mutli-media device. The built in speaker is quite weak, but it works great with headphones.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas, since she wanted an ebook reader or MP3/Video player. I came across this unit which apparently "does it all." Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to do any of it particularly well.
It comes loaded with 150 ebooks, some of which are worth reading, others, not so much. It loads a book in a reasonable time frame, but it would be nice if it was a bit faster. Loading more books is pretty easy, as is removing them. The screen orients itself fairly quickly when the unit is rotated while reading.
MP3 play is good and they can play while you're reading. The only problem is that you can't produce a playlist from what's loaded on the unit. You can create a list on your computer, then load it into the eReader, but once there, you can't manipulate the files. One way around that is to place an album or playlist into a subdirectory, then load it into the audio directory on the eReader. You can then enter that subdirectory and play what's there.
Video playback is less inspiring. I've tried several different formats to see what would/wouldn't play. No matter what format I've used, within seconds, the audio and video are out of sync with the video lagging. That takes the fun out of watching anything...
The wireless works alright, but both it and the browser are *sloooooowwwwwww*. You definately want to sit and enjoy your cup of coffee and not be in a hurry.
The photo viewer works, but is also slow. It'll tell you that a picture format is not supported, even though it's a supported JPEG. Well, the problem is the size of the file. It will display the picture, but only after a long wait. The only solution is to decrease the resolution of the photo prior to loading it on the eReader. Then they all will display pretty quickly.
I like the case, it seems pretty sturdy.
The bottom line is that Augen would have one heck of a unit if they did some work on the guts. I'm assuming that the 400 mhz processor is part of the problem. If they can straighten out some of those bugs, this thing will be terrific!

long battery life. Suport all formats.
WIFI, web is too slow, impossible toread email ( unless with a sedative). It's an ereader that's all. You can't put simple games or even a calculator. Only photos and text.

It's a ereader that's all. You can't use to read emails or something a little bit complex. You can't put games, calculator, nothing, only books and texts. For an ereader and for the price, it's very nice.

This isn't an ereader, it's a tablet, but I use it as ereader and I like it: it's easy, useful and complete, because it plays music and video to. For the price is a good buy.
Maybe the size is long, because of the keyboard, but the screen is ok for reading.

Comments about Augen The Book eReader:
An eReader is what I really wanted - The Book was something I could afford. I had originally ordered another eReader with similar features (I thought)but after three intensely frustrating days it had to be returned. I realized The Book and that product were not at all alike. The Book has wifi access and was preloaded with 150 books, too. I was able to download a selection of books from several sites though the process takes longer than expected on some sites. I am able to transfer reading material from my laptop and keep notes at hand on the notepad. The size is perfect and the full keyboard is much easier to use for this "non-texting" grandma. Having the cover included was a real bonus.
I have encountered some problems trying to read ebooks from a site whose products must be read "on line". Also, a couple short stories I purchased in PDF I was unable to read as the font size was too small. The "zoom" feature on The Book did not work on these two documents.
I look forward to being able to show off my grandson's lastest picture; and, listening to MP3's on "My" Book (though sound quality is best with earphones). These are features not available in some of the more expensive eReaders. The Book is something I for see using every day - not a gadget, like so many, whose novelty wears off quickly.

This product got me back into leisure reading. I mainly purchased it for use on text books, that are now availble as soft copies. But I am highly delighted at the many other features that the product offers. I am certainly enjoying the use of the product

As an ebook reader, this is not so useful, as it has LCD screen which is not so easy for reading. Colour LCD means web browsing is interesting.
