The fisheye conversion lens has been used to shoot photo and video footage and has surprisingly impressed. Was able to fit the entire width of the main post office in Manhattan, NYC (across the street from Madison Square Garden). Also able to shoot from a distance of about 8-10 inches from subject for "macro" type photography. While still considered a special effect lens, I really enjoyed using this lens for a walkabout photoshoot lens. It is light durable and a joy to use!

I use this for artistic style video shots on my Sony FS100. Image quality is fantastic, and the adapter attached to the 16mm lens is small and portable!

Well made lens thats weighty. Works wonderfully on 16mm lens. It will not work well with the 18-55 lens, it shows a black keyhole look.

Comments about Sony VCL-ECF1 E-Mount Fisheye Conversion Lens:
This fisheye conversion is exactly what I was looking for; great quality, inexpensive, and enough barrel distortion to produce exaggerated images without vignetting. The only "bad" thing I've found about this is that it attaches to the 16MM wide-angle Sony lens only (so you have to buy that in addition). The good part about that is then you have two lenses with you in case you want to shoot something slighly different. It looks like an extension of the camera rather than an attached lens (especially with a silver NEX). The only immediate comparable items as of the time of this review are manual focus only, but this is auto focus as well - which is extremely nice for those who aren't as familiar with all the settings.
Excellent piece of equipment!

This makes my 16mm pancake lens even more versatile. I wasn't sure at first, but it was a good price. But when it arrived, my family was laughing so hard, we had to keep it! :)

*This adapter only works with Sony NEX SEL16F28 lens, other NEX lens are not compatible"
I recently bought this, my main concern was to take group photo with exaggerate perspective! Furthermore, landscape is important too!
I used this product recently with some club event and long exposure photography around Melbourne City, especially the area around Crown or Yarra River.
I mount this adapter to my SEL16F28 and hook it up on NEX 7. The result is truly amazing, great landscape with very pleasing light all around.
Taken the photo around 8pm, the sky is dark and cloudy.
Shutter Speed : 1 minute, Manual Exposure, f18, ISO 200, D-Range Optimizer lvl 3, Multi Metering, AutoFocus. Turns out sharp and bright night image that i wanted, i am happy for this Fish Eye lens compare to other product. Sony Alpha Fish Eye cost nearly $1000 here although i had LA-EA2 adapter with me.
The bad:
I think the sharpness at f2.8 wide open, not really sharp. My SEL24F18Z Carl Zeiss is superb sharp even at f1.8 wide open. In general, it is great lens to have wider view of landscape, distortion of images where subject looks small while you are only meter away, and you can distort something looks superb pig such as big nose on the dog with few cm away. It is fun lens and great for taking group photo for fun!

For the price, this is a great addition to my camera/lens capabilities. I used the lens once on a hiking trip and was able to capture super wide-angle panoramas. Awesome! It's also great fun on everyday stuff for a new perspective.

The 16mm pancake lens must be purchased for this to work. I saw a video on YouTube where some dude claims that it works with the 18-55. You can certainly mount the Fisheye lens, but you're not getting any pictures from your camera. So basically you have to buy the 16mm pancake for this lens (just as Sony says...) In all, I spent [$] for the Fish, and ~$200 for the 16mm (open box item at [@]). I must say it takes great photos and I am not at all disappointed with the results. There's a good amount of distortion and I'm having loads of fun with it.

Nice crisp fish eye images and video when attached to the Sony NEX VG-10 video camera. I only wish I could zoom within the lens. An easy solution for fisheye video production.

I have the NEX-5N and this was most economical way to get a fisheye. I'm still trying to figure out how best to use it but it is nice.

Comments about Sony VCL-ECF1 E-Mount Fisheye Conversion Lens:
I bought this product as a travel solution, i hate carrying heavy lenses for travel, usually i use a canon 5d mark2 with 24-105 f4L for all purpose use, the nex5n with 16mm + converters will be the perfect light weight ultra wide solution for creative shots.
Upon opening the box, it is apparent how high the quality of this Converter is. It is miles away from those generic converters that degrade image quality. Wide open @ f2.8, center is sharp enough, only the corners are blurred (fisheyes are normally that way), AF is fast, and I really LOVE THE CLOSE FOCUS ability this converter gives to the 16mm lens. Build quality is amazing, it is definitely made for the 16mm, a dedicated converter, that's the reason for the great IQ. Another bonus is once mounted, the whole unit looks like one lens, not an ugly frankenstein lens setup. As big as the standard 18-55 nex lens. It is easily mounted and removed to the 16mm lens, just a small twist and a satisfying click will do. Bayonet mount.
Only negative i can think of is this fisheye is not as wide as dedicated fisheye lenses. But for the money, this is very very hard to beat.

A very successful and interesting shoot with the E-mount fisheye adapter in the snow at Etienne Brule Park by the Humber River in Toronto. Depending on angle and composition the effect can be barely noticeable to extreme. The wide angle is great for landscapes. The adapter is easily installed and removed even with gloves on, the included case keeps it secure when in my pocket. My only issue is that the UV filter on the lens (really just for protection) must be removed before the adapter can be mounted on the lens. Overall, very happy with the NEX 5N and the 16mm - this adapter adds even more interest and versatility to my photos.

Great fisheye lens and for a great price. You can't go wrong with this lens.
Also, the nex-5 is still able to keep its small profile even with the fisheye lens attached.

Not a big fan of add on lenses. But this works nicely and is solidly built. Nice effect and doesn't mess with the auto-focus. Can't wait to use the fish-eye in Arizona. Might not be as good as $1000 fish-eye but for the price can't be beat.
