One of the most appealing aspects of small mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX-3 and NEX-5 is the availability of a wide range of interchangeable lenses, including non-Sony lenses. This Novoflex Adapter for Leica M Lens to Sony NEX Camera makes it possible to mount a Leica M lens to your NEX-3 or NEX-5 camera with a precision mechanical adapter. Such an adapter does not transfer functions from the camera to the lens, such as auto focus, but automatic exposure metering (stop-down metering/aperture priority) is possible. The lens will focus to infinity using this adapter.

After using a cheap adapter for a few months to adapt my Zeiss m-mount lenses to my NEX, the fit on the adapter became loose. Unfortunately there wasn't a better solution until the Novoflex unit came back in stock.
This is a very solid device. The lens assembles with a satisfying click. There is no movement between any part of the adapter.
My only issue is the price. It does seem a bit high for such a simple part. However, the solid build of the adapter makes me feel much better putting my much more expensive lenses on my camera.

One more thig to consider is getting the Alpha mount adaptor for similar money. You can get lenses that actually have autofocus.

Worth every cent. It has the tightest fit out of all the adapters, which is really important when you have expensive Leica glass attached to the NEX system.

I purchaced this adapter to mount a Zeiss zm lens on a Sony Nex7. This adapter has a great fit and finish with a positive lock. With a couple of thousand dollars on the line, I didn't want an adapter to be the weakest link. Yes, it's worth the price!!!

Much more expensive than other adaptors but it is very well made and should last as long as the Leica lenses I use it with.

Purchased to use my lieca lenses on the sony NEX 7. The fit is perfect. It is easy to use. The photographs allow for the benefit of the 24 mp camera and the sharpness of the lieca glass. It provide another option to the M8 and I would certainly recommend to a friend.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Leica M Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
I bought the NEX-7 primarily as a backup for my M9 and also to use the 90mm and 135mm Leica lenses w focus peaking, since they are difficult to focus on the M9. The build quality of the adapter is first rate. It is the MOST expensive M adapter on the market for the NEX system but well worth the money - it just works, with no fuss, excess play or misalignment

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Leica M Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
This is the best made adapter that I've used with both my Leica M and Zeiss ZM lenses with my NEX7. I've used both the metabones and fotodiox adapters and both had slight play when in use. With use of such high quailty lenses, I'm pleased to have purchased the Novoflex adapter and it's now a permanent addition to my NEX7 kit. Maybe when I save up enough I'll have an adapter for each of my lenses!... a bit over kill but I can dream.

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Leica M Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
If you are looking for an adapter for Leica M or Voigtlander VM or Zeiss ZM mount lenses to the Sony NEX family of cameras, look no further than this adapter. It is a little more expensive than the others, but if you are the type of person buying serious glass for your NEX camera, especially the amazing new NEX 5N and NEX 7 cameras, what is a little more cash to ensure your high-quality lens will perform at its best?
One of the reasons Leica lenses are now in short supply is the recent proliferation of the multiple cameras that will accept M-mount lenses. Unless you are the proud owner of the Ricoh GXR body with the A12 sensor module, also in short supply, you will need an adapter to use the M-mount glass on your camera. Most popular among these seem to be the M-mount to micro 4/3 cameras such as the great line of very-capable Olympus and Panasonic micro 4/3 cameras, and my particular favorite, the Sony NEX 5N, which I also purchased trough B&H and need to review soonest (it is awesome).
One of the drawbacks of the Sony NEX system, as is well documented, is the lack of high-quality, fast glass worthy of the best sensors in the mirror-less camera format. Sony is addressing this with the amazing Carl Zeiss 24mm f 1.8 lens, and with other lenses on the way, but an even more interesting option is to buy M-mount prime lenses with an adapter, which really takes advantage of the capabilities of the NEX line.
I first bought a Voigtlander M to E (NEX mount) adapter, which worked fine with most Voigtlander lenses, but ironically did not lock in the Voigtlander 21mm Color Skopar lens (that I bought from B&H, will review, and is awesome). I thought the problem was with the lens as all other lenses locked in with a satisfying "click." I had read reviews where people raved about the Novoflex adapters, and owning a Novoflex ball head for my tripod (you guessed it, bought from B&H), I knew it would be top quality.
As soon as I received the adapter I mounted it on my NEX 5N, placed the 21mm Color Skopar in the adapter, and to my delight, heard the "click." This mount is a rock-solid piece of gear, engineered in Germany, and worthy to hold the high-quality lenses you invested so much in. I find no drawbacks with the product whatsoever and would recommend it to anyone seeking to mount M-lenses on their NEX cameras.
Living in Japan at an Armed Forces Pacific address, I know B&H always ships in a timely manner, the products arrive in the best condition, and if there are ever problems that occur the great folks at B&H take care of them quickly and professionally (and the problems are never because of B&H -in my experience).

Comments about Novoflex Adapter for Leica M Lens to Sony NEX Camera:
After trying and rapidly returning an inexpensive "Pro" L39 thread mount to NEX E-mount adapter (lens mounted upside down, failed to seat properly, felt loose, tiny metal chips inside!!!), I knew I needed this one. Solid, well-built, this Leica M adapter handles all the M-mount lenses I've tried -- and L39 lenses with the common L39-to-M adapters -- without a hitch. When adapters and lenses are all fitted to the camera, no rattles, shakes or slop. I got my Sony NEX-3 specifically to use with film camera lenses, and while I would not hesitate to experiment with some of the inexpensive adapters, I would not do extensive shooting, or risk expensive Leitz mounts and glass, with anything less substantial than the Novoflex adapter. Caveat emptor on the cheapies.

don't mess around with the less expensive alternatives. you paid big money for your leica glass. spend a little more to get the adapter that will keep them securely on your camera. Well made, looks good, only adapter you'll end up needing to buy. works flawlessly with sony nex-5n
