The 25 to 61" Elinchrom EL Handheld Boom Arm has a rubberized handgrip and can be used to extend lights up to 5.1'. This is a more precise, flexible way to position lighting gear (even with umbrellas or softboxes) than placing it on stands, and it takes up less floor space as well. The two sections of the EL-Boom Arm can be quickly adjusted with the clip-locks. The standard spigot mount fits Elinchrom flash heads and the Ranger Quadra heads. The arm will hold approximately 4.4 lb.

Elinchrom EL Handheld Boom Arm Reviews
Does what it needs to

Lightweight boom that feels sturdy enough. Padded handle makes it comfortable to hold but the locks need to be tightened now and then. A shame that the 5/8 pin doesn’t have grooves to prevent the light from slipping but I added some cat tongue tape on mine and seems to have done the trick
Well-built but not great if you have heavy attachments

This is a solid piece of gear but beware how much weight you attach to your strobes. A normal umbrella or beauty dish on a strobe is great, anything larger than a medium sized soft box will be too heavy!

how would you attach a cordless mic?
how would you attach a cordless mic?
The black plastic cover on the tip can be removed. From there you might need adapters based on your equipment to fit its 1/4" 20 threading.

Will a Magmod Magshoe 2 fit snugly on this boom ...
Will a Magmod Magshoe 2 fit snugly on this boom arm spigot without wobble? The Magshoe 2 does not seat well on an off-brand arm.
The MagMod MagShoe 2 has a 5/8" receiver which will be compatible with Elinchrom EL Handheld Boom Arm (25-61") which features a 5/8" stud at the end for mounting.

question
What is it's weight limit? Could it hold an Interfit Stellar Xtreme 300? Roughly 4lbs.
plain strobe? or fitted with some modifier like a softbox? I use it to hold a speedlight, but it is my belief that it can hold a studio light (using my Einsteins as an example); issue is, with a heavier item at the mounting end, it could be difficult to hold; one of my studio buddies just uses a regular boom that he pulls off his studio boom and because it is so long, he can balance the other end on the ground and hold it with his foot; that way he doesn't have to physically hold it up; I use this boom with a speedlight when I travel to remote locations and I can't carry a big boom..Jerry
