The Bokeh Masters Kit turns light into shapes. By definition, "bokeh" refers to the nature of the blur that can be created using light. It refers to those parts of the image that are out of focus - generally those sections of the photo that are found beyond the measured depth of field.
You will see the effect most pronounced when using point light sources such as candles, street lights, flashlights, etc. However, you will find this system works in most lighting situations. Just remember, it is designed to be most effective with areas of your image that are out of focus.
This kit contains 21 custom shaped discs including stars, hearts, a happy and sad smiley, animal icons, sports icon and several signs. In addition, you receive eight blank discs with which you can cut your own patterns. Using the included holder, you mount it on the lens, insert your selected disc and shoot your portrait. In this way, you can tailor your special effects to your portrait needs. The Bokeh Masters Kit is designed to work even if it is not 100% flat to the lens
Generally speaking, the "Bokehtinator" works best with lenses of filter size up to 62mm, and with apertures of 2.8 or wider. However, the Bokehtinator may also work with other wide-aperture lenses of similar thread size. Testing is recommended.
Note! Other lenses that have not been tested may also work with the Bokeh System - performance testing is highly recommended

The Bokeh Masters Kit will reward you with careful and thoughtful use, and frustrate you if you want something that gives immediate results right out of the box.
Using this kit requires careful use of lighting -- and the skill to use your lighting carefully. I am still getting the hang of it. I've used it to get some interesting images, but nothing that I would use in any real situation yet. The learning curve is steep.
The enclosed instructions tell you how to use the kit and explain some of the math involved. I also like that you can create your own templates to use with the kit (though I have not tried this yet).
The kit does not win any prizes for apparent durability. While it may be perfectly fine, the fold lines for the disk holder look like they could give from fatigue if folded and unfolded frequently. As this is meant to be stored flat, this could be a problem with frequent use.
I'm looking forward to experimenting with this little gadget some more and seeing if I can produce attractive results as seen on the box and on their website.

The Bokeh attachment and slides work great, but the plastic case to store the slides is rubbish.

Comments about DIYP Bokeh Masters Kit:
The Bokeh Master Kit is a fun addition to your photography bag. I was amazed at how simple it was and yet provided such stunning results. It fits over any 62mm opening lens, for me that is my 50mm f1.8. The kit comes with a mounting sleeve and 20 precut stencils, most that I like but I can think of a few others such as a heart shape and maybe a four-leaf clover would be more popular than a check mark. But, it does come with several blanks so you can create your own. My only wish is that the kit worked with (or was available for) other lens opening sizes.

The bokeh masters kit is very simple to use and is great during the holiday season with all of the Christmas lighting. It is also very good for creating a unique background for portraits. It may take some getting used to when it comes to setting up shots with this product, but in the end it is not difficult to achieve the desired result.

This is a product for anyone who is huge into both Nighttime and Experimental Photography. Personally speaking its one of the best things I've spent my money on recently and it really allows for some creative photos. The great thing about it is they give you blank filters to create your own shapes and images. If your really creative you will make your own definate buy for any photographer with a nifty 50 (50mm Lens) that has an f-stop of 1.8

I have made my own bokeh discs before, but when I saw this, it was an instant buy! It is not suitable for a full frame camera. SUPER strong vignette! It was very disappointing. I really wish they were clear about the specifications.

You don't need to be an expert with years of experience in photography in order to be creative in photo snapping. With this kit, and an open mind, even an amateur like me could create fun and exclusive photos just like the pros. Try it! Your friends and family will be amazed. Mine did :)

Bokeh Masters is quit fun to have and is a ok price.
The only thing I though which could have been better was the quality of the bokenator.
I dint like the use of rubber band which is a bit of a handful when try to focus.

I was surprised to find I could get 25 different shapes in one.
I was warned this was a toy that I would be dazzled by once and then I'd stop using it. I hope that's not the case.
It's a really disposable kit, the components are plastic and very easy to break. They are fastened on to the camera with a rubber band (that's included!!).
Great gizmo, great price. Haven't got bored yet.
This set also comes with blank ones so you can make your own shapes. Haven't tried yet, but what a fab idea!

it best with a lens that doesnt rotate to focus or else the design will shift and the "kit" will move away from the lens (changing the effect)

You need a lens that will stop down below f5. My 55mm cannon did not work. But my 70-200mm worked- barely. it is a very cool effect. I bought it for a project in experimental photography class. it is worth [...]- not really. I probably will not use it again.

I didn't really know a lot about how to produce a bokeh effect before buying this kit, but after a day of playing around with the discs and instructions I was producing some really awesome shots.

Comments about DIYP Bokeh Masters Kit:
This kit does work, but there are a couple of things you need to know. First it works best with a fast lens. 50mm F1.8, f1.4. The second is the lights in the background need to be further away from your subject. A example would be taking a shot of a subject three feet in front of you with a fill flash for focus, with a string of Christmas lights 10 to 20 feet behind the subject matter. It does work, it just takes some practice.
Comments about DIYP Bokeh Masters Kit:
Kinda flimsy but cool. I have only used it once but the images were neat. Good for close ups with alot of lights in the background. I have had fun with it so far.
Comments about DIYP Bokeh Masters Kit:
This kit is simply made, but flimsy in my opinion. I have been able to get the desired effects but found that the pieces easily broke/tore as I was punching them out. You could probably make something similar with a decent piece of posterboard for occasional use.
