Sony's HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder brings the excitement of 3D to your home videos. Capture eye-popping memories that will blow your friends and family away when viewed on your 3D HDTV or the generous 3.5" LCD, which requires no special glasses. Of course, those 3D movies can be viewed in 2D and the camera can capture straight 2D movies and digital stills to its 64GB flash memory as well.
The TD10 utilizes 2 "Exmor R" sensors which capture 1920 x 1080 3D video. The "Exmor R" sensors are back-illuminated for excellent shooting, even in low light conditions. Other features of the camera, which render impressive 2D and 3D video include 60p and 24p recording and dual wide-angle G lenses from Sony. Your video will also benefit from Sony's Optical SteadyShot image stabilization with Active Mode, and other shooting features like 10x optical zoom in 3D mode, and 17x Extended Zoom in 2D.
When it comes to the audio features of the TD10 the camera has a 5.1 channel Surround microphone for all-encompassing audio, wind noise reduction, and microphone and headphone jacks. Additional features include a manual control dial, an Active Interface Shoe for attaching various Intelligent Accessories, and a number of shooting and review controls. Highlight Playback, Event Browse, and Intelligent Auto are just a few of ways Sony makes recording and playback easier.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
I use the camera for sporting events and it works great, just dont move it too quickly when the action moves in the other direction. It can blur. Once you get the hang of it, not a problem. I have a sony 3d tv, all I do is plug it in and it goes right to the video, I then choose which video I want to watch. I can upload video to youtube and watch it in 2d or 3d (need 3d glasses)
I do nothing with the camera other then turn it on and push the rec button zoom in and out and thats about it.
The whole experience is just great.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
I purchased this camcorder mainly for outdoor use, to capture not only family and friends, but also to get 3D video of cherry blossoms, spring scenery and blooms, and going forward, summer fun and of course, autumn colors. I own several Sony camcorders and have almost always found the video from those machines to be excellent. This new (now discontinued) 3D HD camcorder lives up to my fullest and generally picky expectations. The video is sharp, clear and with excellent color reproduction. Very important to me, as I walk with the camcorder, image stabilization is excellent as well. Also, low light capability is notably good, as I have shot video at dusk and been favorably impressed by the relative lack of noise given the very low level of ambient light. The battery lasts a long time, possibly reflecting the lack of tape drive or spinning hard disk power draws; the solid state internal memory evidently is very power efficient. I bought a larger battery, and do end up using the supplied battery and much of the larger capacity battery in a long day of shooting, probably because there is no 3D viewfinder, only a large side screen. The side screen is very crisp, even in 3D, and amazing in that is presents 3D without the need for glasses. I am glad Sony put a large LCD screen on this unit, but it would be nice to also have a 3D viewfinder. Time wise, for those long days of shooting, the 64GB of internal memory is more than enough for a typical day's shooting, even several hours worth. An SD card slot (or memory stick) allows expansion of the memory that I have yet to need. Although the camcorder is relatively large and heavy by today's standards, I found it easy to hold and manipulate, and not uncomfortable to hold up or otherwise carry. I purchased this at a discount since Sony has already brought out a replacement. But if you can still get a TD-10, I highly recommend it. The only problem so far is an occasionally sticky zoom switch, a problem I had with my HC-1 years ago (that zoom switch was eventually replaced under warranty). I'd have hoped Sony would have gotten better zoom switches by now, seven years later, but I guess not. That is at this point my only complaint about the unit. Again, highly recommended.

I can import the files to my Media Composer version 5.5 as non 3D.
It looks great.
I got the 128 gig memory cards.
I also got a bluetooth wireless mic that is very easy to use.
I hope Sony makes the MVC AVCHD codec available to Avid so they can handle this 3d workflow.
There is a notice that this is for amature use and not licensed for professional use, but there was no notice of this prior to purchase.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
Picked this up 2011 xmas from BHPhoto in New York (drove there)!!! What a place, highly recommend their store.
Warning: at this time, I do not have a 3d monitor to playback videos (they're not that cheap yet, specially after purchasing a HDR-TD10).
Disclaimer: by no means am I a professional reviewer. I merely read a lot of reviews online and made the decision for this camera after reviewing all other contenders (Panasonic/Canon/etc..). Dont care for 3d ready (read: buy another attachment), i wanted it to be 3d already (which this camera does out of the box) quite well.
This camera needs good daytime light for recording. If recording indoors, would avoid recording at evenings unless enough light. 3d mode does not light fast zooms, take your time (read: go slow), not for action video. 3D zoom prefers 10+feet, anything closer and you'll literally see double or worse.
The ability to plug in the HDMI (included) out to the HDTV is awesome, it was that simple.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
I've been shooting film/vid since I started with Super 8. I bought this for Xmas and Birthdays. I've shot and burnt some movies - the 3D is excellent.
To burn 3D Blu-rays I use Sony Vegas 11 - you can have different events on the time-line, separated by Chapter Markers, and then add a "menu" at the beginning listing them, and saying to use the ->I button (on the TV remote).
To make a disk image you MUST have a 64bit PC with at LEAST 8 gig of RAM (I have 16), with at least 4 cores (I have 6). Vegas uses about 4.3 gig of RAM. If you want to burn over about 15 mins onto a Blu-Ray, a 32 bit computer crashes, as it's total usable RAM is about 3.8 gig.

The manual is a bit complicated, to me, but the auto features render amazing footage, Thanks to B&H online Q&A, I learned I can still use my LANC controls that had been sitting idle since I left HDV, at minimal additional expense.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
If you are going to buy an AVCHD camera in Full HD, I reccomend you this one, even if you are not using the 3D option, the quality or the video is outstanding, for a sensor that small. And you can record all your events in 3D, and transparently edit them in 2D without worries. You can backup your original, for a really near future when you buy a 3D TV, and even without editing preserve the original 3D effect and quality for that future. It is a little limited in manual controls, but the auto function is really useful even for professional work. The file size in 3D is like a 25% bigger than 2D AVCHD at 28 Mbps. so space is no problem. I'm still fighting with the remux of the side to side clip to be useful in PS3 with 3D TV. Sound can be 5.1 or stereo in 3D and 2D. Zoom is the largest in this price range.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
INTRODUCTION: The HDR-TD10 is the sixth camcorder I have purchased since 1991. Three have been Sony cameras (HDR-HD7, HDR-XR500, and the HDR-TD10). From my vantage point, the HDR-TD10 represents the pinnacle of consumer level video technology in the past 20 years. However, please note that I have not directly compared the performance of this camera to other 3D models on the market.
Use: I purchased the HDR-TD10 approximately two weeks ago so that I could utilize it at a recent family gathering. So far, it has performed flawlessly for 30i 3D 1920 X 1080, 30i 2D 1920 X 1080, and 60p 2D 1920 X 1080 recordings. It has a 24 frame-per-second cinema mode, but that has an annoying flicker and is of no interest to me. The 7.1 megapixel 2D stills are sharp, but I primarily use a Nikon D300 for still photography. I have recorded to internal memory (64 Gb solid state) and removable SD cards without issue.
STRENGTHS: The 3D video is frankly very interesting to watch. I am currently limited to using the LCD on the camera which displays 3D without the need for shutter glasses (it can also display 2D in a traditional mode). For me, the video really does take on a life-like quality. I get the sense that I am looking through a small window at events that are happening right then and there on the other side of the window. It is definitely a much more immersive feeling than watching 2D video. The 3D effect is very clear for subjects approximately 10 feet and further from the camera's dual lenses. The best close up shots (less than about 10 feet) require manually adjusting the convergence point of the two lenses using a dial on the front of the camera (other functions such as manual focus can also be assigned to the dial). There is an automated convergence calibration that one can perform, but it seems to work best for objects more than 10 feet away. I am able to acquire good video at typical levels of indoor ambient electrical lighting. 3D video can also be played back at 2D on the camera or a reasonable home computer (I have a quad core 2.8 GHz Intel processor). Windows 7 directly recognizes the MPEG AVC/H.264 format. At some point, I will acquire Sony Vegas Studio 10 and a Sony VIAO F 3D laptop for 3D editing. 2D video recorded at 30i or 60p is excellent. I can really see no difference compared to the HDR-XR500 (which is 30i only) for video taken both outside and inside. I have not used the new camera (with two 1/4 inch sensors) under very low light conditions (the HDR-XR500 has a single 1/2.88 inch sensor with marvelous low light capability - e.g. candlelight). Image stabilization under all modes is quite powerful.
WEAKNESSES: The camera is wide in order to incorporate dual optics and sensors. This isn't a problem for me, but individuals with small hands could find it uncomfortable. There is no internal GPS like the HDR-XR500.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
I am a serious amateur hobbyist who has been shooting high definition video since the first Sony HDV camcorder was introduced in 2005. Earlier this year I purchased a Sony VPL-VW90ES projector that is 3D capable. In as much as my wife and I have very much enjoyed watching commercial Blu-ray 3D features on our 900ES, the Sony HDR-TD10 3D camcorder seemed a fine companion for our projector.
Initially the most notable feature of the TD10 is its outstanding 3D LCD display that requires no glasses. The display is bright, sharp and to my amazement has excellent 3D depth. However, the most important feature of the TD10 is the excellent quality of the 3D high definition image. Outdoors the image quality appears to equal the quality of commercial Blu-ray 3D recordings. Indoors, the quality is excellent although one must be careful not to have objects so close to the camera that they diverge in 3D space. The LCD display nicely takes care of this issue indoors. The camcorder is reasonably small considering that it is essentially two HD cameras in one, fits in the hand nicely, and has excellent optical image stabilization. In most respects the TD10 exceeds my expectations for a consumer 3D camcorder.
There are improvements that Sony could make to the camera which include the following: (1) Most of the manual controls are effective only in the 2D shooting mode with very few manual options available when shooting in 3D. It would be especially valuable to have manual lens convergence available in 3D and shown on the display as a blending of the two video streams. (2) The software for the camera is Windows only, and as I am a Mac user I have had to install Windows on my Mac to make use of the software. (3) The supplied Sony Photo Motion Browser software does not include any editing capability. To edit the MVC format shot by the Sony in 3D mode, one must purchase Sony's Vegas NLE package. (4) The TD10 does not allow capture of 3D still images -- only 2D stills are possible.
Shooting 3D is in its infancy. Sony has designed and produced a fine first effort in the HDR-TD10. I recommend it to anyone interested in exploring the new area of 3D high definition video.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
After purchasing and returning JVC's 3D video camera (not able to edit with it among other issues) I purchased this Sony HDR-TD10 3D video camera.
No regrets! Love it. Great 3D depth (focus point converges for better 3D effect), clean, clear, crisp image. 2D great as well.
Zoom is smooth, optical stabilization works well. Too many positive features to mention.
What works with this video camera is Sony's Vegas Pro 10d. Lots of editing features to make a quality video.
What I don't like is:
*Too fat for any type of balance. Works well with an attached handle/bracket. I've attached a small bubble balance for keeping the horizon level in still position and panning.
*No way to view LCD in sunlight. HINT Sony: Next version include an option for a viewfinder/eyepiece.
For those who do or want to enter the 3D wedding video biz, a purchase of at least two of these cameras (and matching accessories)will pay off big time.

The Sony HDR-TD10 is all I hoped it would be. I do professional TV production and I wanted a 3D camera, but i wasn't ready to spend the price of a car on one yet. I waited patiently for Sony to release this camera for about 3 months and it was definately worth the wait. The 3D effects are beautiful and with the aid of Vegas 10, you can edit in 3D with no problem. If you want to just plug it into your 3D TV, it works great that way too. Not needing 3D glasses on the camera monitor is amazing. You see exactly what you are shooting instantly in 3D. I'm sold on this small Sony. It has some of the features like the big boys in the Sony camera line have.

Comments about Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD 3D Camcorder:
I shot my first 3D movie in March 2010 using two Canon T2i cameras on a parallel 3D rig. Editing and rendering the footage was incredibly difficult; I used Sony Vegas to edit each view independently and Stereo Moviemaker to adjust the 3D effect. Finally, I was able to master a 3D Blu-ray using a beta version of NetBlender's DoStudio, a $10,000 program that included support for the 3D MVC codec.
Fast forward just over a year. The newly released 10.0d version of Sony Vegas natively supports the MVC codec, allowing 3D footage to be edited as easily as 2D footage. It also allows 3d Blu-rays to be burned directly from the timeline.
As for the camera itself: I was pleasantly surprised to find it exceeded my expectations. Color reproduction is exceptional, image stabailization is very good, and the glasses-free 3D display is extremely nice. Only the sound quality disappoints, but I almost never rely on built-in mics.
As an entry into the world of 3D, this camera is phenomenal. There are "prosumer" 3D cameras on the way, but for those who edit in Vegas, there's really no better or cheaper way to jump into the world of 3D shooting and editing today that with this camera. Very highly recommended!
(For those without Vegas: the footage can be edited in-camera with some difficulty and watched on a 3D compatible TV. A high-speed HMDI cable is included.)
(I have shown this to a few colleagues unfamiliar with 3D and watched their faces light up with glee; one described it as "like traveling into the future." That's awesome.)
