I was looking for a good compact travel camera to take on my vacation to Greece. I didn't want to take my heavy camera equipment, and I had made arrangements to do on-sight portraits of the family we stayed with. After reading reviews of many point and shoot cameras, I decided on the Lumix DMC-ZS10 because of its size, lens and variable controls, along with a great price for what it offered. I was able to get great flesh tones as well as great scenic color. I was also able to use the aperture priority to get the depth of field effects I wanted.
The only drawback on it is the shutter lag time and to get full advantage of it, you really need to know how to use its features and practice with it. You can still get great pictures if your an amateur and just use A or iA.

Last November, after my vacation was booked, I started looking for a camera with GPS. I was going to buy Canon 230HS in the beginning since have used a Canon IXUS 850 IS for 6 years, and I love it very much. But, after read countless reviews, I decided to buy a Panasonic ZS 10 and brought it on my vacation. Here is my review:
a. Body
The camera is beautiful. I love its steel body and large screen. Touch screen function is very cool. But, there was a problem with the screen that I could not see what I was shooting in the bright sunny days. Unfortunately (but fortunately for my vacation), every day was bright sunny day during my vacation. So, the most time, I did blind shooting.
b. GPS
During the vacation, I toured in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. The GPS worked very well especially when it is in "ON" mode. To my surprise, the battery life was pretty good. I charged the battery every day and turn-off the GPS at nights. But, it is good to have a backup battery in case you have to use flash light a lot.
c. Quality of the images
I am not a professional photographer. So, I only used iA mode. I used 10-second self- timer combined with iBurst a lot to shoot inside churches with very low light, and outdoor night scenes without tripod. The results were very very good.
I was disappointed by the images shot outdoor in the bright sunny day. They were good when I look at them on my computer with "fit to screen" size. But, they are very bad (heavy visible noise) when I look at them with actual size compare to my Canon.
However, the pictures look good when printed on size 8 X 6 papers.
d. software
It disappointed me too. I used the software to Geotag (Burn) my pictures. It decreased the quality of the images while to do so – from a 180 dpi to 72 dpi.
Another problem was: I used time stamp on some pictures. After edited them in PhotoShop, I imported them into Panasonic software. The software added shooting time and location tags on the pictures, but, did not remove the old time stamps. So, the new tags and old time stamp overlap on the pictures.

I absolutely love the zoom feature. I can be far away from my object and this camera will get a close up pic every time. That was always my gripe with my other digital camera's. This one takes excellent pictures close up and far away. I am very happy with it.

This camera has a great zoom for a point and shoot! The disadvantage is that it doesn't take very good images in low light like in a concert setting. It also has a hard time focusing when you're zoomed in with low light. The pictures aren't terrible but not great by any means.

The menu is easy to access and tells you what every feature does so you do not have to refer to the manual. It also has a convenient dial on the top to choose different features and a few custom settings. The leica dicamar glass is super clear and sharp. The zoom is quick and smooth. Overall this camera is a great easy to use travel camera for just about anything.

A camera fits for all occasions!
I was looking for a camera that fits all occasions, parties, functions & travel etc., to replace my old digital camera. This is probably the best available in the market for $200 price range right now.
You will never regret

This camera is great in the woods or on vacation. In the crowds at Universal, Orlando, there was no problem being bumped because of the stabilization feature. All photos were sharp. The touch-screen is good for quick review or exposure changes. If you compare this model to the Leica, all the specs are the same, for much less! I don't need the GPS feature unless I discover a new waterfall in North Carolina but am going to start shooting 3D photos very soon.

I'm a university student without a lot of camera know how. This Lumix is just great - simple to use, the perfect size for a pocket or purse, not bulky, and takes great photos for its size! The only confusing bit is the touch screen, as i have no idea how to use it. The manual might be a good read in order to figure that out, though...

Asked a professional photographer friend it she could recommend a good pocket camera for under $300, and she suggested this one. I use it for pictures of my completed work for portfolio and website (I'm a residential contractor)and for snapshots, vacation etc. Compared to my old Nikon coolpics camera, this one takes beautiful pictures, intense color, great close-ups, and the pictures have a wide angle of field, which really helps when I'm taking pictures of small rooms. Only downside is the screen is sometimes a touch screen and sometimes you have to use the menu buttons, whould be nice to have it be all touch screen.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 Digital Camera (Blue):
I wanted to move up from a regular point-and-shoot but was not yet ready for the size and expense of a mirror less system or DSLR. This fit the bill nicely with plentiful manual controls, great optical zoom & quick performance. In my opinion, the 16x optical zoom is probably the best feature. It is very easy to use with fully automatic settings, but the manual controls are readily accessed when more granular controls are desired. So far, my only major complaint is that videos shot indoors seem a bit dark. Also, the GPS seems to eat the battery, so I have been very careful to shut it off when not needed.

My disappointment so far is the zoom feature. The zoom control is too sensitive. I have difficulty getting the zoom function to be variable. It seems to be all or nothing.
