The Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera Kit provides you with the T3i body and a Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS II lens. You'll be ready to shoot from day one with this set-up. Just charge the included LP-E8 battery pack and pop in an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card and you're ready to start making photos! And should you want to expand your selection of lenses for the T3i, all Canon EF and EF-S lenses are compatible.
The Rebel line of DSLR cameras has long been known as a value in photography, focusing on the advanced amateur, student, and all those looking to go beyond what their point-and-shoot lets them do, to stretch and test the limits of their creativity; all while not breaking the bank.
With an 18MP CMOS (APS-C) sensor and Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor the T3i captures beautiful, high resloution JPEG, RAW, and RAW+JPEG images to your choice of SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. The camera also records full HD .MOV video at 1920 x 1080/30p/24p, among other frame rate options. The wide range of compatible lenses and the camera's dedicated live view give you the flexibility you need to create wonderful HD DSLR movies.
No matter what you're recording - still images or vibrant video - the T3i provides you with a vari-angle 3.0" Clear View LCD monitor that flips-out and is adjustable at a variety of angles for shooting and review of your subject. The camera also features an eye-level viewfinder for more precise composition of shots.
Canon's 63 zone dual-layer sensor works with the 9 point AF system for excellent exposures by minimizing in-camera meter reading error. The system produces more accurate images even in low-lit settings. The T3i also features an in-camera flash or the option to connect a flash, and is Speedlite compatible. Another feature worth mentioning when it comes to exposure include the camera's 100-6400 ISO rating which is expandable up to 12,800. Using this setting along with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer produces incredible low light shots.
In addition, the T3i features a number of user-friendly modes that allow the user to simplify their experience. Intelligent Auto mode, for example, takes the guesswork out of shooting by automatically setting 5 of the camera's technologies to create the optimum image. Other helpful shooting controls like Basic+ provides the user with 2 options for making creative photos like a pro. The ambience selection adjusts exposure and white balance to give your images a unique look and feel. When shooting by lighting or scene type, Basic+ creates artistic filters for the scene or gives it the feel that the viewer is focused on the center of the image. Of course, other shooting controls like the feature guide and quick control screen help to streamline your experience with the camera as well.
In addition to a number of different recording size and frame rate modes, the EOS Rebel T3i enables easy manual control of exposure, focus and Live View features and even allows for in-camera editing. The large CMOS sensor and compatibility with over 60 lenses provide a wealth of depth-of-field options. And it's all as easy as the press of a button - the EOS Rebel T3i has a dedicated Live View/Movie Recording start/stop button that gets the shooting started fast
Shoot by ambience selection
Based on the Picture Style and its parameters (sharpness, contrast, saturation, and color tone), the exposure compensation and white balance correction are adjusted to attain the selected ambience. You can also can also select the strength of the ambience effect
Shoot by lighting or scene type
Although the actual parameter set is the white balance, the settings are expressed in more understandable terms
The Multi-Aspect Function of the EOS Rebel T3i lets you express an image in one of three ways by matching the aspect ratio to each scene. In addition to the camera's standard 3:2 ration, the Multi-Aspect Function includes a 1:1 ratio that creates the sensation that the viewer's gaze is focusing upon the center of the image. At the 4:3 ratio, you get nearly the same aspect ratio as a regular TV or a 4:3 computer display. The 16:9 aspect ratio provides a wide look, much the same as HDTV
The EOS Rebel T3i incorporates five in-camera Creative Filters so you can artistically manipulate scenes without the aid of an outside computer. Soft Focus lends a dreamy, romantic aspect, while Grainy Black and White gives a dramatically gritty, hard-bitten look. Miniature Effect creates an illusion in which expansive subjects are seemingly reduced to doll-house-like proportions, and Toy Camera Effect recreates the colors and softness rendered by cameras with a plastic lens, an effect often sought after by art photographers. Fish Eye Effect mimics the "Fisheye" lenses that are favorites of professional photographers for their quirky, convex perspective
Additionally, the EOS Rebel T3i is compatible with Eye-Fi SD cards, which are outfitted with a Wi-Fi transmitter (IEEE 802.11b/g) and an internal antenna for wireless, high-speed transfer of images. With an Eye-Fi card installed, the EOS Rebel EOS Rebel T3i can display the Eye-Fi's connection status and error notes with ease, for fully functional wireless uploading of images directly from the camera
The Canon Speedlite 430EX II is the ideal step-up accessory for powerful flash shooting with the EOS Rebel T3i. It has excellent flash power (maximum guide number of 141 ft./43m at ISO 100), and is the perfect way to get great flash pictures when you can't get right up to the subject. The 430EX II is also great for bounce flash, with its tilting and swiveling flash head. It automatically zooms the flash head to cover lenses ranging from 16mm up to 105mm or longer with the EOS Rebel T3i. Of course, it works with the camera to provide full E-TTL II automatic flash exposure. And the 430EX II has a powerful AF-assist beam, which allows the camera to autofocus even in total darkness on subjects as far as 32 ft. from the camera

This camera has been everything I hoped for and more.
As a semi-professional videographer and film maker, I bought it to shoot video but have found myself shooting pics non-stop in the last three weeks. Probably up to about a thousand so far.
I was showing my wife pictures of a hotel I took and made into a slideshow and joked about how long it had taken me to do it. Almost a minute. She assumed I had pulled it off of the hotel's professional website. And that's just with the on-camera flash.
I got the 18-55, the 55-250 and the 50 1.8. I know it's bottom end glass but I've been MORE than pleased. Once I got used to the manual controls I was going crazy with art shots. I've done digitally manipulated photography gallery showings before and I KNOW I'll be doing them again - except this time it won't be all landscapes and architecture. The APS-C sensor allows for so much more creativity than even the best superzoom, bells and whistles point and shoot out there. I love my old Canon Powershot S3is for the zoom, but the T3i is just in a different class.
So if you are just taking snapshots, this will give you GREAT snapshots. If you're wanting to take creative, professional quality photos on a budget, this is the camera for you as well.
As for video, I've played around a little bit and been happy so far. I've used the 5D mkII and it didn't take long to switch over to the T3i. Will be shooting a television pilot on it in the next month and expect great things out of it based on what I've seen the last three weeks.
Oh, almost forgot the best thing about it - the variangle screen. Don't even think about the T2i. Get the swivel screen. Shooting out of the poorly placed and tiny window in a gondola over a waterfall was SOOO much easier with the screen. It makes a lot of other things easier, like video, as well.
Caviats - the auto focus using the back screen in live view mode is painful. For stills I much prefer the viewfinder. (Unless I'm doing something terribly wrong.)
Get an extra battery. Spend the money on a Canon so it'll tell you how much life you have left. Stick it in your pocket or bag. They're really small and cheap compared to missing half a day's worth of shooting your kids in the park. Also buy a big SD card. See reason above. :-)
I have the 18-55 and 55-250 lenses. You may find yourself swithcing lenses a lot if you want to zoom in on anything. The 18-55 is great for normal photos or anything up close but dosn't have the zoom range needed to reach out and grab a distance shot. The 55-250 is too long for anything close up. I was at a BBQ and the range I wanted to shoot was right in between. Just food for thought.
If you really want to do action sports the shutter speed is too low. It was an improvement over my old camera but you won't honestly be able to do a lot of sports or action with this. Surveillence maybe - action no. One shot per spin around the carrousel I'm afraid.

Magic Lantern ulnocks all kinds of features from some Canon DSLR cameras. The most important features for me are the disabling of Auto Gain Control and the ability to monitor sound out of the camera.
At this point the Magic Lantern firmware does not fully support these functions for T3i. Which means the audio quality will be poor.
I returned the T3i as soon as I realized. B7H graciously accepted it back. And I immediately bought a T2i instead. I have to do without the flip out screen but get all kinds of extra Magic Lantern features instead.
At this point I suggest buying T2i over T3i.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera Kit:
I got the T3i for video... this camera has feature that made it hands down the favorite over the 7D my director/producer was using. The swivel screen was huge; the colors were consistently amazing in available light; the only drawback would be... save up for the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens. I will be buying another T3i and 3 of the above lenses from B&H. Great service and information! Thanks!

I haven't had it for long, but I can already tell the controls are intuitive, the interface is great, and the pictures taken so far impress greatly.
I wish I had gotten a body-only and invested in a super zoom for walking around, but I'll have to make due with the kit for now.

After much research I decided on the Canon T3i as my first digital camera. I love the fact that I can grab it quick to snap shots of kids or the fact that it is possible to be more creative in the manual modes. I am very happy with my purchase!

this is my first DSLR, and although it takes some practice to get great results, you quickly pick it up. the following are reasons for buying this camera if your new to DSLRs.
1) great price
2) amazing HD video quality
3) small & light weight.
4) 18-350mm f/3.5 lens is decent at most things, but not great. if you want to shoot in low light, you will need to get a lens with high aperture.
5) if your'e a pro, this camera is probably not for you, but as an entry level camera it gives HD quality video and photos just like the pros.
6) battery life could be better, but it is not such a big deal.

Belive it or not, this camera has a 325 page manual, that is how much stuff this camera can do. I have not used the video yet, so can't respond to it, but the camera has been a lot of fun to learn. It has proven to be a great investment so far. I am using it with the 18-55 lens it came with which doesn't have a macro but I have an extension tube that is making up for that somewhat.

I bought this camera for my boyfriend for his 22nd birthday. He absolutely loves it. It's taking some time to learn everything it does but that's the beauty of it. This was the perfect gift for someone who appreciates photography and has a hobby of it. He really loves being able to take amazing pictures. The service on B&H was amazing and it made it so easy. I'd recommend this camera and this company to buy it from.

I'm a photo student and bought this camera to get me through the rest of school and maybe beyond. So far, I think it will be perfect! I love the flip out view screen. Helps me frame shots at low angles that I'd otherwise have to lie on the ground to take. The only problem I've had in my first month of having the camera is that when I am using the screen rather than the viewfinder, it doesn't autofocus as easily. Really not a huge problem though since I use manual most of the time.

The Camera is nice and it works great.. The Camera is good for both Video and Photographs. I use the camera for natural and wildlife photographs. It has both Manual and automatic control over the Video. The thing i don't like is, it doesn't work good when you capture images in the dark

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera Kit:
I will be using this camera to film a documentary on dance music. Some features that are great is that in the type of lighting that one finds in a dark club at night, this Rebel T3i works amazingly. It is even able to take a beautiful still shot WHILE VIDEO TAPING !!! This causes a frame rate to be skipped, yet it is still a very awesome feature. This is an extremely smart & diverse camera. The only prob one may have is the feel of filming with the "box-type" feeling one has while handling the camera. Reason being, it is held like a 35 mm camera and not a handheld camcorder. Other than that, one just has to get used of the feel....overall it is an AWESOME BUY !!!!!!!

I am a novice photographer, but bought this camera to get high quality pictures of our baby daughter. The fast shutter speed helps capture the quick and often fleeting emotions that are so hard to catch on a standard point and shoot. The articulating LCD screen is also quite useful. There are a lot of features I've yet to explore but am thoroughly happy just from a basic ease of use and great image quality standpoint.
