The CompuDay Photo 250 Backpack from Lowepro is a real "out-the-door" pack. Not like your traditional backpack, this unique approach to carrying around gear takes into consideration the user who needs a good-sized bag for a wide variety of purposes but doesn't want the weight of something you'd climb Everest with.
The pack is large enough to hold a 15.6" laptop and still has room for a camera, and all kinds of personal stuff like cell phone, portable hard drive, snacks, jacket and that MP3 player with your favorite songs on it. There are multiple pockets for all sorts of things like keys and wallets and your plane tickets. There's even a removable accessories pouch for the stuff you might want to carry with you once you arrive at a gig or other destination. On the front, there's a zippered pocket for numerous small items like your phone, papers and that MP3 player.
For shooters, there's a neat little side pocket that gives fast access to the camera with a simple flick of a zipper. No need to worry about padding as the bag is made out of rugged ballistic nylon. In addition, plenty of support for your gear on the inside. Comfortable, adjustable shoulder straps as well as a quick-grab handle are available for transport. However, if you're traveling with additional luggage, Lowepro has even included a mesh trolley sleeve that will hold your bag safely and securely while you navigate through crowded parking lots or airports. At a more than reasonable price for a bag this complete that is backed by a lifetime warranty, Lowepro has produced a real winner.

This bag is great. I just recently was gifted a Nikon SLR but realized I was not using it because I did not have the right bag to fit my lifestyle. I travel a fair bit, and like to keep a daypack that is stocked with what I might need through out the day....journal, notebook, book, pens, pencils, keys, and a small camera. My old backpack had outgrown my camera. This bag was the perfect upgrade.
I think the bag is great, because it fits what you need and nothing more. I am a bit of a minimalist, and usually when I am out and about it is for most of the day. No fun to carry a heavy backpack. Besides the size, I really like that it is a plain, unassuming bag. I felt it was really secure. My options I was looking at were the the Lowepro Flipside and the CompuDay, and I decided that the super hidden entrance to the Flipside would actually be kind of a pain while traveling. I don't need to take the CompuDay off to get access to the camera. I have since been traveling in Mexico, and have felt super safe with the pack, even in the Metro in Mexico City! Also love the top carry handle that makes it easy to get in and out of overhead luggage areas on flights or buses.
One other big plus was the water bottle holder. It is deep and big, so I imagine holds a range of sizes of bottles.
I am just starting with photography, so drawbacks I can see about this pack would be the size. With the camera in the side pocket, it is a bit tight. It is collapsible, but I have not used it that way yet. If you have lots of extras it simple won't fit. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, the bag does not stand alone, so it needs to be leaned against something. It does NOT have an area to attach a tri-pod, but as I am a beginner, this is not an essential on outings yet. I did see a video review of the bag where a guy had used a bungee to strap one on and it worked fine.
All in all, love this bag, and you cannot beat the price. Thanks LowePro!

I like this bag a lot and was using it to replace an old Lowepro bag I had... its great because there is room for a computer but i believe that takes away from the good sense of compartmentalization that other lowepro bags give. There is this great side pocked that allows for easy access to your camera body but i am concerned about my lenses safety in this bag because there are not a lot of small sections, rather just one large compartment coupled with a couple other large compartments.
All in all an ok bag.

I love this bag. Period. I spent quite some time looking for the right bag that I could use to transport my camera, a couple accessories, and some personal gear such as jacket, food, etc. This is the perfect one. If you just want your SLR with a lens attached and maybe one other lens plus batteries, cards, as well as some personal items and a laptop then this bag will do the job nicely. It's super comfortable to wear and very versatile. You can even collapse the camera compartment to use this as a regular backpack when you don't need your photography gear. For me, it's just the right size. A Canon 60D with 18-200mm attached fits nicely in the camera compartment with some room to spare. I'm really glad that I finally found this bag!

Its nice if your a lefty because the quick access camera pocket thats on the left side of the pack when you have it on. I can fit my Mac book Pro 15" in nice and snug. Also well designed. If your right handed might be a little awkward if your getting this for the side pocket. They should have that as an option.

Been trying and returning various backpacks - can't seem to get one that would make me happy. I have only 1 DSLR (Canon Ti2) and 3 lenses, including 300mm, but I also have a lot of accessories that I do want to have in one place (batteries, SD cards, all the cables, Motorolla XOOM tablet, external flash, flashlight, diffuser, etc...) when going on weekend trips.
I do have a small shoulder bag when I know I will only need a few things...otherwise I want one large backpack but not too heavy that would allow me to organize and carry with me all of my gear.
While this comes close it lacks some dividers to allow for better layout of my accessories.
Holds the camera with 1 lens in a separate compartment which is really nice. Everything else is a bit messy, especially if you have a lot of smaller items.

I am a 'weight matters' photographer. I don't want equipment that is cumbersome or heavy and I want everything to fit in one pack. The CompuDay 250 backpack couldn't be better. It is really well made yet light in weight and has the space I need. In addition to my camera (with attached 15 - 150 lens), filter, extra battery, remote, and other camera accessories I have room for energy bars, sunscreen, bug spray, note pad, wallet and a jacket and there is an outside pocket for my water bottle. In cases where I'll need it, my small lap top easily slides in. I looked at many, many backpacks before I saw this one; I sure am glad I didn't settle for less than I wanted. Thanks, Lowepro.

Comments about Lowepro CompuDay Photo 250 Backpack (Black):
I use this pack to carry a Macbook Air, Pentax K5 and a few primes ;)
It is light, compact, easy to carry and easily handles day to day loads.
If you like to travel light, unhindered by your gear, this is for you. If you need to carry lots of material, this will not fit the bill. I've personally had larger packs, and carried all I thought I would use, while travelling out of town, but found myself using far less than what I carried.
The pack itself is well built and designed, typical of Lowepro, and easy to transit with, feeling confident my gear is well packed, and carried discretely. If I do need to carry lots of material,
I use a carry-on style rolling case to bring heavier gear if needed.
The side access and separate storage for the camera is great, and doesn't look like a camera sling bag, which I feel might bring attention to itself when travelling. The zippers are easy to open, the interior is coloured light grey which makes seeing things inside it that much easier as opposed to a black or dark coloured interior.
The only negatives are that the zippers might be too easy to open if agile hands were to try and pry it open while you are walking. There is no apparent way to 'lock up' the zippers as the handles are the easy-grip elastic cords. And finally, while I would not fret from a little drizzle or very light snow, the bag does not have the all weather covering other Lowepro packs have, which I have found very useful on the few occasions I got caught in bad weather.
Otherwise, it is a commendable pack for daily use, to have your gear carried in, and made for those who like to travel light.

Perfect for day trip, walk in the park, or airline personal item carry on. I like to carry on my DSLR but it can take up too much room in a roll aboard or briefcase and is not well protected.
This item solves all those problems! The camera tucks in a side pocket for easy accessibility. There is also room for a tablet-sized laptop and extra stuff like a power supply, extra lens, books, etc. with assorted pockets and pouches.
Lowepro quality but this item is not as expensive as some other pro quality stuff.
I am very happy with this item.

If you travel light or as I do want to move light from time to time ths is the choice. There is enough place to fit and grab a camera at the side. And a backup camera inside the package. In addition a laptop pocket. The handel is very stury and helps a balanced carrying experience.

Comments about Lowepro CompuDay Photo 250 Backpack (Black):
This backpack comfortably holds my 15'' Macbook Pro and Sony A33. But it's defiantly not for students who want to carry their camera, laptop and textbooks. The camera slides into a side zipper that is its own adjustable padded pocket and likewise too, your laptop has its own protected pocket. There is an included zipper bag that holds all my USB cables and thumb drives and a front zipper that opens to a few well-placed pockets. This bag is really for someone who is inseparable from his or her camera and laptop. What I really like about it is how the camera pocket is place on the side thus making access to it much like a sling styled bag. Sadly though (and this is why it gets 4 stars) the shoulder straps are a bit thin and not nearly padded enough for a laptop and a SLR camera and while there is a travel mug pocket on the side it doesn't hold the cup properly. Other than that a pretty good bag for under $90.

This product is great. It has plenty of room for both a digital SLR with extra lenses and a camcorder with extra batteries. A backpack is quite a bit more comfortable than a traditional camera bag. It also has a strap so that the backpack can looped over the handles of a carryon bag.

I tried so many different ways of carrying my SLR Camera, my IPad, water and other stuff. Tried ThinkTank speed daemon, regular backpack, photo camera bag,...
this is the best, backpack with easy reach for camera and padded space for laptop/notebook/IPad.
Still have to get used to swinging it around to grab the camera...

I use the bag for toting around my canon 500d and a lens or two. It is slightly larger than your average book bag, but doesnt scream CAMERA BAG! or purse...
It is built solid, with good zippers and rugged nylon exterior fabric. Lots of inside pockets for different things. There might even be too many pockets, I have to search a lot, or maybe I'm just not used to it yet and havent gotten organized enough.
Nothing bad to say about it, except unlike the other lowepro bags, it does NOT have the rain-fly that pulls out to cover it.

Admittedly I haven't actually used this with my camera yet. But I've used it day-to-day to go to work with my laptop and it is the best backpack I've owned for hauling my computer and work items. It is very light (is it filled with helium or something?) and simple yet very functional. The camera area easily collapses leaving plenty of room for books and other items. It has all the basics I've found lacking in some other bags: a place for all my small items, a handle on the top, an easily accessible zippered pocket on the outside of the bag, a side pocket for a water bottle or umbrella. Bottom line: if this bag ever wears out (unlikely) I'll buy another.

Great for smaller DSLRs. Currently being used with a T3i/battery grip/24-105mm lens and it's a bit of a squeeze especially when a laptop is also stored, but very secure overall.
