I keep this camera in my purse so I am able to get high quality photos of friends and family in an instant. I've had a few occasions with long zoom where image is blurry, more so than my previous camera so I don't recommend the full zoom extension. The pictures of family and friends are fabulous and I've already had one friend ask what type of camera it is so she can buy one too. The ease of use is great. I downgraded so I would have a good camera that would fit in purse. Now I am planning a trip to Africa and wish I would have gotten the bigger camera with better zoom for that trip. However the everyday pictures that I am getting because I have the camera with me are priceless. Battery life is excellent!

Finally, after a long time the fastest and the best in low light point and shoot pocket cameras has arrived. The new Nikon S9100 is a 3.5 lens with a 9.5 fps burst rate at full 12.1 megapixels resolution also had 18X zoom with the best one solution lens on it. The new Nikon P300 is a 1.8 lens with an 8 fps burst rate at full 12.2 megapixels resolution with a very good portrait lens on it. Both of this new pocket point and shoots are both from Nikon and much, much better than G9, G10, G11, and G12 point and shoot series from Canon. For a long time Canon has been the best when it becomes to pocket point and shoot cameras but with the April 2011 arrivals of this 2 Nikon cameras, Canon is now left in the dust. I highly recommend this 2 powerful new pocket point and shoot cameras from Nikon to anyone who likes to travel and wants to produce DSLR quality photos but don't want to carry big and heavy DSLR cameras. This new Nikons are both small but amazingly fast and easy to use for a pocket point and shoot camera. Both of these cameras are on sale for only [$] dollars considering its many capabilities this price is reasonable. The Nikon S9100 had 3 cool colors of silver, black, and pinkish-red while Nikon P300 is available only in black. I have researched both of cameras carefully and was also amazed with the previous versions of it the Nikon S8100 and Nikon P200. That's why, I highly recommend these 2 cameras; 1 for portrait photography – Nikon P300 and the other one is an overall one solution lens – Nikon S9100. Both cameras are fast and very good in low light. It's like a mini DSLR without the heavy weight and yes it's a first and a dream come true for this incredible pocket cameras. That is why I highly recommend both Nikon S9100 and Nikon P300. It blows away all other competitors including top of the line of Kodak, Sony, Panasonic, or even Canon is no match compare with these New Nikons.

Even tho it fits in your pocket, this camera is about as close to professional quality as you could imagine in such a small package. There are plenty of options to use, or ignore and just use an automatic mode. The picture quality is excellent, and with an 8GB memory card, the camera will hold thousands of images.
While it's not cheap, the overall quality is amazing for the price.

I'm using it to take pictures of my frineds on trips. Doing a great job at all light conditions so far. The movies are very good- We are watching them on my Ipad and it it really amazing. The only thing that might be a problem is holding the camera with stable hands when using the zoom- but its not a big problem at all.

it doesnt do everything but it really is amazing how fast the processor is compared to my 2 year old nikon. we had only 1 instance of focus trouble on a 10 day vacation where we shot almost 600 pics. everything from night shots, landscapes, bug and flower closeups to people shots. the results were amazing for the price. and the colors were excellent. the lens is better than i expected with good sharpness when enlarging photos. we have used everything from high end SLR's to very cheep point and shoots. if you need a compact do almost anything small camera to take on a trip this is it. easy enough for a beginner but gives you enough options to capture some nice photos if you want to. i'd recommend getting the fastest sd card you can afford it really helps in the field.
