I have a 1510 travel case that is also excellent but I outgrew it for everyday storage. I still use the 1510 but have to decide what to bring. The 1654 is BIG and holds all of my equipment and more. I would never consider another brand!

We use this case to transport our camera equipment to and from weddings every weekend. We know it is protected and will be safe inside the case. We would recommend this product to everyone and know, without a doubt, that we will order another one in the future.

It's huge. It can store a LOT of things so be careful not to overload it. The case itself is something like 30 lbs, so the whole package will go up to 60+ lbs very quickly. Excellent Pelican build quality and design is as expected. Excellent if you have a large kit to take to location. You can set the case down and your camera department is right there in front of you.

I purchased a Pelican 1654 to serve as a large-format "tool box" for the work I do installing A/V systems. The size of this case allows me to carry all of the hand tools I need during the average gig, as well as a cordless drill and it's charger, a heat gun, small soldering station and a huge assortment of useful parts. The included divider set makes keeping all of this "stuff" as organized as I can manage. The extending handle and double-caster set provides for easy rolling across the average parking lot, arena floor, etc...
Two downsides to this case: The size of the lid requires a piece of foam so large, that it tends to fall out when the lid is opened. It could be attached somehow, perhaps to the included accessory mounts. I plan on ordering a tool pallet for the lid from another manufacturer, to use instead of the foam. (Pelican should take note of the opportunity for a new accessory here...)
The second potential problem is not necessarily Pelican's fault, but an obvious opportunity for user error: You may find it easy, as I did, to fit so much in this case that it quickly becomes REALLY HEAVY!

I use this for wedding photography. Needed a sturdy case as opposed to the lowpro stuff and this is a great product. Its a beast. VERY heavy...actually broke my lcd by dropping the camera on the case. its a great buy and very strong. LOUD noises when latching the 7 latches. Be sure to wear protective footwear because this case weighs around 75lbs with all my gear inside and can be dangerous if mishandled or dropped on a foot. Has a rolling handle that bends a little but looks easily replaceable if it breaks. The other handles are strong and the design is smart. This is a very good buy. This one won't make it on a plane but honestly if its packed right, i wouldn't even worry about checking it in.

Overall this is a great product. I got it specifically to hold my lighting equipment and actually ended up having the room to place camera gear in as well. Overall REALLY pleased with the product.

These definitely helped in better organizing the contents of my 1650 Pelican Case. I strongly recommend them for securing lenses, strobes, pocket wizards, camera bodies and anything else that may be potentially damaged if not properly secured.

I questioned the cleanliness of the product when it arrived, as when I was removing it from its packaging, much of the velcro material retained some kind of white material, potentially packaging material from the warehouse it was previously stored in. Although the product was new and properly sealed, I did prefer to clean some of the velcro before placing it in the Pelican case.

Additionally, because it it such a large case, it may be wise to invest in a secondary set of dividers as I found that many of the smaller dividers I used rather quickly, although this will obviously be subjective to your preferred layout of the dividers and your equipment.

Pelican makes a fine product and this is no exception. This box is HUGE! Almost too big to work out of. I've yet to arrange the dividers to my satisfaction, but no more lack of room for gear. This product comes with a lifetime warranty and that's exactly how long this thing is built to last.

I bought this case to store most of my Nikon equipment--three camera bodies, 300mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, 200mm f/4 micro, 135mm f/2 DC, 16-35mm f/4, 24-70mm f/2.8, 28-300mm, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8, 24mm, 35mm DX, 16-85mm DX, Tokina 11-16mm DX, assorts cords, chargers, batteries, filters--you get the picture. With the lid organizer, this case has become home base. Since I rarely carry all this equipment when I travel, I don't use this case for transport (except b/w residences). I have other more portable solutions. But if you need to pack for travel, this case willl certainly do the job. Hey, it's a Pelican.

If you absolutely positively need to protect your gear against the elements there really isn't much better than this case.

I use it on sailing and watersports assignments and it easily fits my Nikon D3s with Nikkor 500mm attached (including hood) and alongside I can fit another Nikon D3s with my 70-200mm and there's still space for some extra bodies and wide-angle lenses.

Using the lid organizer (separate purchase required) I can also arrange my batteries, filters, lens caps and cleaning cloths.

It's a big investment (or at least it was for me) but it was worth every penny.

6 speedlights with feet and diffusers
40 AA rechargeables
speedlight commander
camcorder and panhead with leveling base
QTVR panhead
numerous other cables, filters, 2 speedlight grids, joby gorillapod, spare CF cards, collapsible snoot, a flexible clamp and a reflector / grey card and a tri-flash mount

The wheels are excellent, will roll over a lot of rough surfaces

One downside is the size and bulk. But if you're tired of multiple bags and going back to the car for more stuff over and over, then get one of these. They're excellent. I don't know why I waited so long to get one.
