Building upon the design of the well-received TD5, the Westcott Spiderlite TD6 adds another socket for a total of 6 for increased light output. The light fixture accepts optional tungsten halogen (3200K) lamps up to 1200W maximum as well as fluorescents (3200 - 6000K) and screw-mount flash. Three separate controls allow multiple combinations of bulbs together with no color shift. The TD6 has all-metal construction with 4 built-in receptacles for direct attachment of a 4-sided softbox without an adapter ring.
This Westcott 2-Pack Spiderlite TD6 Show PROMO Kit includes 2 TD6 heads, 2 Tilter Brackets and 12 50W daylight-balanced fluorescents. 2 ideal Softboxes for portrait or product work are also included: a 36 x 48" Shallow Softbox and a 12 x 36" Strip Softbox.

Comments about Westcott 2-Pack Spiderlite TD6 Show PROMO Kit (110V AC):
Picked these up to have a continuous light source for newborn sessions, and couldn't be happier. Compared to the TD5s which we've shot with, but don't own, they just add a little more versatility and range with ISO and shutter speed...but it's worth it.
Only downside would be that you have to keep them on stands and can't set them down since the bulbs are not protected inside the softbox (compared to our AlienBees strobes that you can set down anywhere anytime). That's just the nature of the beast with CLFs, though...not just the TD6.

Comments about Westcott 2-Pack Spiderlite TD6 Show PROMO Kit (110V AC):
I use the product for photography and video. Have used them to light white and green screen backgrounds. Even with a relatively uneven screen, I was able to pull good keys.
Cons: White balanced the included bulbs and they are showing at 5900K. This has caused some issues with the other lighting I use. And price is also a bit sttep.

I love my TD5 continuous fluorescent lights, but on ocassion I need more light than these produce. Adding the 2 new TD6 lights gives me the light I need.
The continuous lights are great for active toddlers! I can do multiple shots without waiting for the lights to cycle. Thus I am able to get some great shots! My clients love these lights, too, because they can get used to the light and not have the stars you get with lights that flash.
I would recommend these lights to everyone! This is a superb product!

Comments about Westcott 2-Pack Spiderlite TD6 Show PROMO Kit (110V AC):
I recently purchased the 2 pack Spiderlite TD6 kit and separately added the 40 degree egg crate and the rolling transport bag. I complimented my new kit with light stands previously purchased from B&H.
I find that the lights produce a wonderful soft light and have adequate brightness for a small scene/environmental portrait setup. You just need to leave amble prep time to transport and setup your kit due to the nature of the 12 bulbs and collapsible soft boxes.
As mentioned by others, the transport bag's internal zippers are a bit of a concern but the design is fine for 'prosumer' use. I would be concerned with daily field use.
Overall, I am pleased with the Westcott TD6 2 pack soft box kit that I have assembled. It provides a strong foundation for a budding videographers / photographers available light setups.

I used several speed lights until I purchased these lights. Wow, they work great. The only downside is storing the light when not in use.

Comments about Westcott 2-Pack Spiderlite TD6 Show PROMO Kit (110V AC):
For continuous lighting, this is a great kit and will result in some beautiful photos. You'll often get results as you see them with the naked eye and the fixture switches to control the lighting is an added plus (as is the kill switch on the power cord). The only drawback with these is that they're just not powerful enough and situations requiring higher aperture will require you to give up shutter speed or ISO.

Comments about Westcott 2-Pack Spiderlite TD6 Show PROMO Kit (110V AC):
I personally love these lights. Flash is certainly more powerful, but I feel like these are more dramatic, and more lifelike. They are not very portable, at least not quickly as it takes a bit of time and care to put in and remove 12 bulbs, but for a studio setup I think they are great. I would like to add a couple of td3s for background and hair light.
