First and foremost, the Panasonic TC-P55VT30 55" Class VIERA VT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV is one whopping big TV. Whenever this set is on get used to anyone else in the room drifting away from you in favor of the action on-screen. That being said, this is a TV that enhances your environment by simply being a beautiful object. It's when you fire it up, however, that it becomes obvious that the TC-P55VT30 is at the frontier of a flat panel breakthrough which turns traditional passive viewing into a completely interactive experience with a radically immersive element: 3D.
Panasonic uses Full HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through optional active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking Full HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism.
The 100,000 hour 1080p panel is capable of displaying 6,144 shades of gradation, the benefit of which is most obvious in pure rich blacks. Vivid is the key word in the TC-P55VT30 design. The 600Hz Subfield drive ensures that each individual pixel remains lit for the minimum time possible to reduce after effects. This is especially important in sports and action sequences. And speaking of action, Game Mode tweaks the TC-P55VT30's settings, prioritizing fast response and super-sharp detail to meet the demands of the lightening-fast gaming world.
The TC-P55VT30's extensive connectivity has got your digital options covered with four HDMI connections, so you can switch from Xbox to PlayStation to TV as fast as you want to. Or you use the SD card slot or one of the three USB ports to enjoy music, videos and JPEG slide shows. If that's still not enough, the LAN port is your gateway to a world of online entertainment. Just press the VIERA Tools button on your remote. But that's not all your remote can do. Instead of juggling several remotes while you miss the kickoff, control all of your HDMI connected devices with just the VIERA remote. Setup is a snap. You can even go wireless with the included Wi-Fi adapter.
Finally, Panasonic has demonstrated its environmental commitment by eliminating lead and mercury from its panels while Energy Star compliance ensures that your TV will save you money while it helps preserve the environment.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P55VT30 55" Class VIERA VT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, but must note that while the picture quality is superior to my old Pioneer PDP-5070HD plasma (not a Kuro, mind you), the TV itself is rougher around the edges.
Pros:
* Excellent picture quality -- definitely an improvement over my 720p Pioneer display. The THX setting is almost spot-on, but with the help of an S&M calibration disc, things got even better after turning down the contrast a bit.
* Intuitive UI, and extensive picture controls if you need them (you probably don't!)
Cons:
* Stupid "Viera Connect" banner ad that you must disable under Device > Advanced Settings.
* The remote is kind of a joke. It looks like each marketing team wanted their own button, so you've ended up with a mish-mash of typefaces and features a movie enthusiast wouldn't care about. I miss my Pioneer's brushed metal remote.
* Limited analog outputs. No RCA outs without cruddy 1/8" adapter!
* No handles on the back -- a consequence of panels getting so thin! You definitely want an extra set of hands to maneuver this display around.
* Captive power cord! Really? I understand that most people won't need to replace a power cord, but you don't even have the option with this display.

If you want a top of the line plasma TV, this one is fantastic. The color is true and the image is sharp. The wireless Internet connection works great with a high speed network in the house. Excellent tuner for over the air broadcasts. I have not tried the 3D glasses yet.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P55VT30 55" Class VIERA VT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
From 3D to standard tv, this HDTV blows away the competitve brands in every way to be veiwed. Gaming also is delivered better than I have ever seen. Action videos have a sense of delivery that is unique in the ability to see details without smudging. Being a plasma tv the viewing angle is awesome even in 3D. DLNA is also a plus, I use it from my ThunderBolt to easily share photos I just took.
