If your favorite thing in the world is watching TV at home by yourself, this may not be the best camera for you. The Olympus TG-810 Digital Camera (Black) is not your average stay-at-home kind of image-maker. It's a 14MP compact digital camera with a 5x wide-angle 28-140mm lens (equivalent in 35mm format) that's ready for any adventure you care to pursue. It's dustproof, waterproof to 33' (10 m), freezeproof to 14°F (0°C), and it's tested to survive a 6.6' (2 m) drop as well as 220 lbs of crushing pressure (and the 3" high-resolution display is ultra scratch-resistant).
In addition to gorgeous photographs, the TG-810 produces dazzling 1280 x 720p HD video. Not only will you get the picture, you'll always know where it was taken and how to get there and back--built-in GPS, compass, and manometer (which monitors depth or altitude) see to that.
But beneath the TG-810's macho exterior beats the heart of an artist: Magic Filters help you torque up the creativity level with Pop Art, Pin Hole, Fish-eye, Soft Focus, Drawing, Watercolor, Sparkle and Punk customized effects that can be applied to your photos. A 3D mode produces photos that can be viewed on 3D televisions or laptops. An in-camera panorama mode makes it simple to take and stitch together 3 photos for an ultra wide-angle panoramic image. Beauty mode helps all of your human subjects look their best by softening shadows and wrinkles and enhancing their eyes. Dual image stabilization ensures your images will be crisp and clear, without any shaking or blurring from slow shutter speeds.

Comments about Olympus Tough TG-810 Digital Camera (Black):
For years, I used an Olymous Mju Tough, slow and with a very limited zoom but virtually unbreakable. Then, last december, I decided to buy the new Nikon Coolpix AW100. This one was fast, with a decent zoom and a more than decent GPS
Then, I went on a cruise in February with the new Nikon and the old Olymous as a "just-in-case" backup. Good idea indeed because the plastic bug Nikon was a lemon and not-so-waterproof as advertised : in fact, it didn't resist the ship's swimming pool !
To replace this one after its complete loss I naturally went for the new Olympus TG-810 and God : it's really built as a tank ! And a fast one indeed.
Well, OK, the GPS of the Olympus (extremely slow to find a fix) does not match the one of the late Nikon, and don't expect to find, on a such a compact, the same image quality as, say a DSLR as my Nikon D90, but apart from that it's the perfect and the best choice for all your outdoor activities.
Furthermore, it has been quickly shipped and delivered in Montreal as everything I previously bought on B&H

I am always lugging my SLR around where I shouldn't, Ocean Kayaking, Backpack Camping. I almost bought a underwater casing for it so I could use it while scuba diving. I just needed a camera that was small and versatile enough to travel and just get wet. Sure I still need to get a casing for scuba diving, but it will not run $2500. The camera is built as the label on the front says,'Tough.' The locking mechanism to seal the camera is great and its ease of use. I am off to Costa Rica for another adventure and this Olympus is coming with me!

This is a very durable compact camera. In one weekend I did a mud run and warrior dash. The events are dirty, wet and of course muddy. THe camera held up well!
However on my first use of it, the battery died sooner than I would have expected. Make sure you don't leave the GPS powered up while keeping the camera on because it drains the battery quickly.
Overall, the camera takes great pics and is exactly what I was looking for.

I live in Alaska and need a camera that fits in my pocket and can take great photos and shoot video in any type of weather. This camera does exactly that. I had a Canon digital EOS Rebel and it was just too big and bulky to carry on all my hunting and fishing trips. I bought TG-810 and can now take great photos and video when and where I need to.

Just have to remember that if I want to GPS track my images, i have to turn it on and let it sit outside facing the sky for a few minutes, but then i am good to go and shoot tons of photos. great quality photos and videos.

This is a great camera to take with you on your next adventure. I admit I've had a Sony Cybershot in the past due to their pocket-friendly size but was disappointed by their fragility. The Olympus though has not disappointed. Not only is it waterproof and built to withstand almost any fall but it also has a large LCD. And best of all, it's still compact enough to fit in my jeans pocket. My only slight criticism is that the zoom sometimes doesn't work quickly enough for me (seems like it takes a second to recognize what I'm doing). Even with this in mind, I have not looked back since purchasing this camera and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Hey Guys,
I want to share my experience with the TG-810. I do some river surfing and before I bought this camera, I tried the Panasonic Lumix-TS3. I had the Lumix replaced 2 times because water went in it even if it was well closed.
The TG-810 seal is a good one, and is well made. No water leaked into the camera so far. It takes great pictures and video. Plenny of mode to use.
I realy enjoy my new camera. If you want to see a movie made with it, go on youtube and type : River Surfing in Montreal 07/08/2011. Most of the plan are made with this camera and a suction cup.
Thanks

I was the owner of the previous model and I tried to upgrade. I think - good choice! The camera has a faster AF and a larger display than the previous model.

Comments about Olympus Tough TG-810 Digital Camera (Black):
This Camera is great. I love all the features. It is a upgrade of everything I liked about the older models minus some of the flaws without losing any of the good stuff.
The GPS is a cool feature. Does slow the camera down a bit but dont really need it for everyday use.
I haven't had any problems with battery life like some people have noticed. Power save mode is annoying but it works.
Auto Panorama still doesn't track well like older models with this feature. I always use manual to make sure it gets the frames I want.
Love the fast Continuous Shooting feature. I always loved this on SLR cameras
Low light settings are really good.
The large LCD is very clear, but it sticks out .5 from the camera, I am very sure it is protection for the main screen but it makes it very prone to scratches. I got scratch protection screens to help prevent this.
This is a great all round camera. Perfect for those that love to travel and people that are rough on their electronics, like me.

Comments about Olympus Tough TG-810 Digital Camera (Black):
I got this camera in July 2011 for my honeymoon to Hawaii! My wife has the older 850SW and we have put it through the paces taking it to Mexico for snorkeling and it has been dropped a few times. So, I wanted the updated version for my uses such as fishing trips and snorkeling. Well, it takes incredible underwater photos to no surprise. It helps that Hawaii's water visibility is crystal clear, but I got some awesome video also! It has held up to a few falls and lots of time underwater.
My few complaints - it is very slow to write to the memory card. I need to upgrade to the newer SD cards to see if that helps. The camera also takes a long time to turn on and be ready to shoot. When trying to save battery life underwater but not wanting to miss a shot, this was frustrating. The other thing is that you have to charge the batter through the camera. I am looking to buy an external charger.
Battery life was only ok. Not bad, but not great.
Forget using the flash underwater if you have any kind of direct overhead sunlight and good visibilty. I have not tried the GPS yet.
Make sure you get a screen protector. I scratched the screen almost instantly by accident.
Also, get a wristband flotation device cause this puppy is heavy and going to sink quickly!
Overall I love this camera and cherish the photos it took out in Hawaii! I would certainly recommend it to anyone.
