Avid Studio is a great product but you will need a lot of work to make it work. The activation keys (required to activate what you paid for) are a pain in the neck because while you are editing, you click on a menu or button and a requester pops up demanding an Activation Key. Sometimes it is automatic but others (MPEG-2 codecs) leads to dead end (a bug?). After hours of search you email to customer support (after support activation) and get the keys by reply some 24 hours after. Up to now I have more than 8 keys and hope it's the last of it. Avid Studio is a great product when it works. The activation keys (required to make what you paid for work) are a pain in the neck. You can't create DVD's even if they claim it will because the activation web link is a dead end. But most of all there is no customer service, no support team, NOTHING!! A knowledge base is your only help but it doesn't talk about activation keys. Good luck to you.

It has everything going for it except its stupid looking, "dog-eared" interface and the fact that you can't read the audio tracks without blowing them up to max view. If you're trying to sync tracks, forget it.

I purchased an earlier version of this product. It worked fairly well, but overwrote all of the other DVD write drivers on my computer.

Additionally, when my computer crashed, they would not renew my activation. They accused me of pirateing the software, even after I sent them photos of the original install CDs and AV/DV Card. But they did give me the option of buying an upgrade.

I needed more options for editing than the standard "basic" programs could provide. Avid fills the need for a more "hands on" approach without too many extras that I dont need. I am able to make very pro looking projects for clients web sites. Love the unlimited tracks and correction options.

This is a very good program that is simple to use. Initially, I had Avid Studio problems on a cuputer with an i7 processor, 6 gigs of memory but a simple video card. I was about to give the progam away and called it useless. I upgraded to a computer with an i7 2600 cpu, 8 gigs of memory an Nvidia GTX video card with 1 gig of memory on it and now the program works great. I see a few minor bugs, but have not installed the update yet.

After deleting an earlier version of Pinnacle to install Avid studio, my footage was dropping frames like crazy and the results were pixelated. I then re-installed Pinnacle version 12 to capture my archive footage from my Sony 3/4 inch SP video editor. I am using a Toshiba Dual Athlon processor 64-bit with Windows 7. It's time to consider Apple.

I produce a show that's been on two tv stations and online for over 5 years. I use the product to create everything that's video. It's powerful when installed correctly. I've used it since the first day it came out. Still am unable to use all the functions and features. The set of features they give is enormous. The Sonic Fire plug in is a worth while buy. I do wish it had a multi-cam edit mode. It really can not be beat in this price range though. The library function is invaluable. It makes it easy to find an organize clips. I really can't say enough about it. It's my regular video editor. I do wish that it worked better with my Bella DV Keyboard. That's on Bella not creating a set of short cuts. It's very quick when it comes to rendering on a 64bit operating system. Just don't try to get by with the minimum system requirements. That goes for any video editing software. If you can't afford the pro version of Adobe or Vegas Pro your only options are this and the professional version of Magix. A very solid sophisticated program as well for the price but almost three times as much. I could ramble on and on. Bottom line is this is the best editing software for under $399

I've been using Pinnacle for many years and finally switched over to Avid Studio and all I can say is wow, you get tons of features for one low price and the program renders video very fast. One of the cool features is that you can upload HD videos straight to YouTube without having to re-render somewhere else then upload, saves lots of time.

I couldn't give the software a 5 star rating yet. So far, I've only "tinkered" with it but there's real potential under the hood. I plan to use this product to create and produce final media for my video transfer and editing business. It installed and runs fine on my Windows 7 64bit system.I also purchased the 290 page Avid Studio Reference Guide. [...]There are a lot of powerful and flexible features and I recommend looking at the "Getting Started with Avid Studio" DVD included with the software. This was created by Class on Demand and it does an excellent job of showing all the main features and explains how they fit in a project cycle. They also offer a complete DVD training course and I've ordered that set as well. [...]This software has great potential and offers incredible flexibility. I usually just work my way in and figure out what software might do. However, in this case, I highly recommend the Avid reference manual as well as the training DVDs to help you access the many features that will let you make professional quality media presentations.

For home use & very fancy & easy to use
What i don't like is installation & pc only ...why??
after installing on vista it was not running .
Spend 4 hours with online support then updated to newer ver. & worked fine.
So install & update right away then startup
you will save 4 hours.
Rest is good as expected enjoy!!!!!!

I have been looking to move up in editing features and abilities. I am not one to read the book, ha ha. But, i would recommend reading a little. However, very easy to use. Full featured! This is what I would call a Pro Consumer editing package that has a lot of titles set up for consumers, but enough for business as well. I want to do green screen at some point and this software supports it well. I have even used photoshop making green screen images for logos etc. WORKED Great!

As I am getting ready to use a digital recorder for audio this supports multitrack features. I had no problem loading the program, and no crashes. Avid is a well known company. If you dont have a Mac like me or a $699 budget this program gives you lots of power in the pro consumer recording.

I really cant say enough about the program.

This looks like a great program on paper. In practice it's a different story. I had numerous error messages on installation. I called Avid support and was told to copy files off Installation disk to my hard drive manually to get the installation to work. Then I was unable to load the extra plug-ins. It was these plug-ins that made the program attractive to me. Again, I called support and was told to manually copy files from the installation disc. This is the first time I have ever had installation problems like this in all the years I have been computing. But the topper was when I attempted to look at the "Getting Started" disc. My virus protection software warned me that a Trojan was present. That was it for me. I feel like I just flushed my money down the toilet.
