This large-capacity drive allows me to work on FCPX projects on my laptop or any other computer that has FCPX. This is the first time I worked on a video project from a thumb drive, breaking the notion that these small drives are only for storage or Office documents.
Of course I regularly backup the data to a desktop drive, but I'm able to work off this Lexar in the field. Before there were any large thumb drives in this price range I used portable bus-powered hard drives, which uses more battery power and are a bit cumbersome because they're larger, fragile, and require a cable.
The Lexar is an excellent replacement for an external hard drive. I hope to buy another one (or perhaps a larger one) if they stay affordable.

Tha all plastic casing seems cheaply made. I have yet to find something that fits in the hole provided in order to attach the drive to a keychain or lanyard.

Comments about Lexar 128GB Echo MX Backup Drive:
I use this for storing large video files and photos. This flash drive has excellent capacity, especially considering the price of similar capacity drives from other manufacturers. The write speed is not quite as fast as some other flash drives out there, but it is by no means slow.
Please note that this drive is formatted in the exFAT(Extended File Allocation Table) file system. If you are using on a computer that is not set up to use the exFAT file system (e.g. a computer running Windows XP which does not already have the free Windows exFAT patch) this drive will not function properly and you will not be able to store any data on it. If you want to use the drive in its native exFAT file system on a pre-Vista windows computer, simply get the free exFAT patch from Microsoft. Alternatively, you can re-format the drive to NTFS, which will make it compatable with older Windows systems - however, the formatting either needs to be done on a newer system or a computer that already has the exFAT patch.

Comments about Lexar 128GB Echo MX Backup Drive:
Best thing - the cheapest 128GB USB memory stick I was able to find (as of March 2012).
Worst thing - the slider that is supposed to cover it when not in use is very unstable. As a result, the memory stick stays almost all the time open in my pocket/backpack, exposed to anything that touches it. This is the only reason I gave it 3, not 4 or 5 stars.

Another perfectly quiet and properly functioning USB drive. No surprises, no problems. Did not come with a cap, so I cut one of the plastic caps from one of my Apple iPod/iPhone cables and that works perfectly. The performance is average, which is fine for me, since capacity was the key here, and the price is good.

Fast, simple to use and no cap. definitely a great bargain.

After maxing out 2 flash drives on my digital picture frame, I needed something reliable. On this new flash drive there's a whole lot of room to work with. So far, I have seen some very good results since I have been using it on my digital picture frame.

It's good capacity and works well. I use it on my MacBook Air and the fan was on pretty loud, so I believe the backup software is bad on resource, it does it's job though so backup copy is complete.
I changed to use the disk encryption which is a part of the Mac system and so far it's been working well.
