The 27" iMac Desktop Computer from Apple is a sleek all-in-one computer with a stunning 16:9 HD display. Capable of displaying 1080p HD video at full resolution, the display features a LED backlight and IPS panel technology for superior image quality. The iMac sports a sleek aluminum and glass industrial design, with a matching wireless slimline aluminum keyboard. Apple's innovative wireless Magic Mouse is included for cursor control, giving desktop users the same powerful multi-touch input capabilities that are found in Apple notebook trackpads -- in a desktop mouse form factor.
The built-in FaceTime HD camera hides discreetly above the LCD screen, giving you ready access to a webcam for Internet chat and conferencing. It will let you make video calls to other Mac users with the included FaceTime app, as well as to anyone with an iPhone 4 or an iPod touch model with a built-in camera.
The iMac features two Thunderbolt ports. Thunderbolt is a high-speed interface that can move data at an amazing 10Gbps -- double that of USB 3.0. Each Thunderbolt port doubles as a display output -- they share the same physical form factor as Mini DisplayPort. You can use each port to daisy-chain up to six devices -- making it possible to connect up to 12 Thunderbolt devices two this iMac -- including two external displays!
The system also features USB 2.0 and FireWire-800 ports for device connectivity. An SDXC slot is built-in as well, allowing you to download pictures from your digital camera directly into iPhoto.
iLife '11 has a complete suite of digital creativity applications. Easy enough for anyone to use, iLife will help you edit your home movies, organize digital photos, and compose original music. The system is also powerful enough to run Apple's professional-level applications, perfect for those who are ready to move up to the next level of creative software.
The computer is powered by a quad-core 3.1GHz Intel Core i5 processor for superior performance. It boasts 4GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, integrated speakers, and the SuperDrive DVD burner. The glossy 27" widescreen display is powered by an AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPU with 1GB of memory.
The 64-bit OS features Time Machine backup, which automatically backs up system data to an external hard drive. It also features intuitive Cover Flow navigation, the powerful Spotlight search tool, and Quick Look document preview. You'll be able to use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac.
The iMac is a strikingly elegant computer that will feel at home on virtually any desk.

I am a professional event photographer, which means I take anywhere from 10,000 - 40,000 images a week. The need to store and create "Wow" at my events to entice sales, in quick, crisp slideshows is a must. Now I can run 2 additional monitors for even greater impact.
Out of the box experience - 2 B&H boxes surround the Apple product box. So it arrived in perfect shape. Added 8GB of ram in just a few seconds after pulling it out of the box, for a total of 12GB. Turned it on the and it asked if I already owned a Mac Computer - yes, I have a 2008 Macbook Pro 15". Offered to transfer all my installed software and setting in one easy step with a firewire cable. No need to sit there and swap installation disks and search for passwords/ installation codes. 40 minutes later, it was done and was an exact copy of my laptop experience that I am so familiar with.
I immediately wanted to see how much faster this computer is than the MBP so I had them do a side by side encoding of a slideshow I created in iPhoto at 1920x1080 with 123 dance images I shot (12MP files) into a .Mov file. Results were very impressive 52 minutes vs 198 minutes (3HR 18 minutes).
Lots of ports to connect various devices to, runs nearly silently.

I love all Apple products, and my iMac 27". Its a great performance in this amazing screen. But with 2 months, the video dead. Now, with 13 months of use, i see problems again with green spots at right side. And the ethernet dont work now. The ethernet card is integrated with the motherboard, so I'll have to replace the entire motherboard with an absurd expense. I still love Apple and the computer is awesome, but Apple is not as confident about the durability and quality as it once was for me.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
This is our first mac (we've been PC people for a long time) but due to some increasing interest in photography and video editing we decided to give the iMac a try.
We've had it for a couple of weeks and it has been great. Very easy to set up.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Five stars so far: I've only had this Mac for about a week & a half and it's my first iMac. I process photographs. I've used a Mac since the first one in 1984 with 128K and each one just gets better. You can use most any software with this iMac, including Windows for personal finance and Office documents. I am having trouble with Lion and its incompatibility with the scanners that I use, and that makes me sad; but the speed, the clarity of the display, the ease of set up and use will make me work a little harder to find out how to remedy the situation.

Have been around Macs for years. Authorized Reseller with Video Editing suites years ago, but our business used PC's exclusively. Don't think I'll miss the wonderful world of Windows.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Computer came with snow leopard... free upgrade to lion was absolutely no problem.
I love the full screen image processing.
I installed aperture - plugged in my external HDD and all my folders etc showed up no problem.
I upgraded it to 8GB (Crucial Kit) and I am glad I did. It is much cheaper than the apple installed option and it works no problem. Very easy to install.
When Aperture is running you want the 8GB... permanently over 5GB of RAM used.
My pictures are 21MP... I have very little hesitation, even when using brushes and edge detection.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
At this point I have only had my Mac for a few weeks. However, I am extremely glad to say that B&H has not let me down whatsoever. They shipped it to me quicker than a laser even though I ordered almost on top of a Holiday. Use of this Mac will be intuitive to any previous Mac owner. I have not had a new Mac computer since 2004 & with all honesty, the set-up of my new desk top was truly " A Piece of Cake" compared to the 2004 deal. Pro's: So far everything! Again for previous Mac owner's, the only problem not figuring out all the new & super improved apps; would be entirely the strange & inconceivable idea that above stated owner's never knew what they were doing. So Now for the Cons: Thus far I am truly afraid you must hold your breath. Perhaps for a very long, long time. My complaint Dept = absolute 0!

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Computer is better than the OS Lion I loaded on it. My previous computer was a G-5 running OS X10.5. Lion is a completely new learning experience, I find it somewhat frustrating.
The 27 "iMac on the other hand is fast and has not caused me any problems. I plan to process and edit old 8mm videos on it. Too early to comment on that. I'm still in the process of setting it up to my liking.
I'm awaiting the development of thunderbolt supported devices.
B&H was the best place to by a new iMac.
