The NX200 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black) from Samsung is a more compact, more affordable alternative to a DSLR camera that employs a mirror. Along with the sleek, slim design of the NX200, you get the creative opportunities that interchangeable lenses afford, plus mega-fine-detailed imagery: With a large (23.5 x 15.7mm), high-resolution APS-C image sensor, the NX200 captures photos at a vast 20.3 Megapixels. This model comes with a versatile 18-55mm zoom lens and a flash that attaches to the camera's hot shoe.
The lens features Samsung's i-Function technology, which puts a button on the lens that unlocks the manual adjustment of several settings. Choose among shutter speed, aperture, exposure value, white balance, and ISO, and then turn the ring on the lens to adjust your selected parameter. The slim-bodied NX200 camera has a mount that accepts any of Samsung's NX-mount lenses, a growing family that already offers a wide range of choices.
The NX200's video system is much-improved over that of its predecessor – the camera is capable of recording full HD 1920 x 1080 video at 30p. Set at 1280 x 720 resolution, the NX200 can even capture true slow-motion video.

I've been shooting with NX200 for about a month now, mostly in the redwoods and low light scenes. It is an incredible camera. very sharp and accurate in color and detail

Comments about Samsung NX200 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
Just beginning to learn the ropes with this new camera but already the performance I'm so pleased and impressed, and the difference between the shots it takes and the pictures I got with my old point and shoot (a Leica D-Lux 3) is night and day.
If you're not ready to commit to a DSLR and lugging around all the equipment, I think this camera can do it all in a smaller, more flexible package.

Comments about Samsung NX200 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
Here are the features that most impressed me.
1. The "Smart" exposure mode is very satisfactory for fast spur-of-the-moment shots. The camera takes little time to go from off to full ready. It intelligently selects the image type, lanscape, low light, etc. and adjusts accordingly.
2. The "scene" preferences are very thorough and accurate. For example, a portrait scene is indeed the best scene for portraits and not some other ambiguous setting.
3. The camera body is light and easy to handle while being covered magnesium.
4. 20 megapixels is impressive for the size and cost of the camera. If you like to shoot RAW images, the included computer software is excellent for pre-processing.
5. I'm not enthusiastic about several functions that appear on many other brand cameras: a) The live mode histogram is tiny. Histograms are essential information for digital cameras and HDR (high dynamic range) images. I'd like to see another push button (sorry) that engages a full screen histogram. b) The camera doesn't have a pop-up flash which is fine with me, but the included external flash is a wee tiny peanut with a low GN. At 12 feet, the lens aperature would be wide open unless you invited noise with a higher ISO setting.
6. This isn't a complaint, but just an observation. The camera functions have multiple ways of achieving the same result which boggles my mind sometimes. What's the rule about Occam's Razor and simplicity?
7. The PDF manual on the supplied DVD is in color and it very professional looking. It doesn't appear to have copyright threats throughout the document so I printed the manual myself on my color Epson printer. It is superb.

Comments about Samsung NX200 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
I have owned many small camera systems. They come in handy when you don't want to lug around a DSLR and all the lenses. I was not satisfied with the image quality coming out of my Olympus MFT system so I was in the market for a replacement. In consideration was this camera and the Sony Nex 5 or 7. What influenced the purchase was actually going to a store, handling the cameras and taking some sample shots. I didn't like how the Sony felt in my hands. It was akward to hold and handle. The ergonomics on the NX200 are much better than Sony. Also the NX is more intituvie to use. The menu system is so easy to use and has a built in help system. The final selling point for the NX was the lenses that are or will be available. Sony's Nex lineup of lenses currently doesn't come close to what Samsung is offering. My concern for this camera was the lack of a viewfinder and it's Raw processing and file size. At this point (I've had the camera almost 2 months) the lack of a viewfinder doesn't bother me. The Raw file processing, which can at times produce a message on the LCD saying "Processing" is no big deal and has not stopped me from taking a shot. The picture quality coming from the sensor is amazing and I am very happy with the kit lens that ships with the camera. All-in-all this is a solid performer with tons of features that is fun to use.

Comments about Samsung NX200 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
Fantastic mirrorless camera, with great lenses but no easy to find. The 85mm 1.4 is a premium lens specially for portraits that you should consider to buy if you take photography seriously.

Comments about Samsung NX200 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
I really like the i-zoom feature. I made an 11x14 with the 2x zoom that looks very nice. This makes the 18-55mm kit lens the equal of a 27-165mm lens in 35mm. I tested a MFT camera using the 2x digital zoom and was not satisfied with a 4x6 print. I've owned several medium format cameras and digital slrs and IMO the image quality of the NX200 is as good as any of them. The magic frames, smart filters and the ability to record a few seconds of sound with a picture are all nice features. The controls are all easy to use and the learning curve is not steep. The video quality seems good but the kit lens does make some noise when zooming and focusing. The 18-200mm, 60mm, 85mm and the promised 16-80mm zoom are all silent when focusing. I want the 16-80mm when it's available! The zoom ring was a little stiff at first but works perfectly now. When you consider image quality, price, build quality, ease of use and the lenses which are or soon will be available, the NX200 is hard to beat. I almost forgot to add the 5x magnification when using manual focus. It really helps.
