I already had the LA-EA1 for use with my NEX 7 and didn't mind manual focusing. However, I really wanted to see what the hype was about regarding the LA-EA2. It looks like this is a keeper. The autofocus is much faster and more accurate than my Sony a700 and add to the fact that NEX cameras have AF micro adjust. Although my NEX 7 + LA-EA2 & Minolta 200 2.8 APO G looks unwieldy, I found the setup to be much lighter than the same lens attached to my a700 with battery grip. All I need to do is to carry some extra batteries. The bottom hump is great for grasping for long length lenses. Using the adapter does use more battery power and Alpha mount teleconverters won't function with the adapter. Not even for controlling aperture. Also, the maximum aperture is limited to f3.5 for autofocus functioning video. Other than that, the image quality difference between the LA-EA2 and LA-EA1 to be quite negligible. This is truly an innovative product that makes the NEX system modular and flexible.

Sony got pretty close to delivering what I was looking for with this product. The auto-focus is fast and solid!
I was really hoping to emulate the full array of options available between my SLT-A55 and the A-mount lenses, but as attached to the NEX VG20 body, the LA-EA2 can't access the aperture below f3.5 in auto mode, and none of the stabilization settings are available either.
If you need solid autofocus and have invested in A-mount glass (as I have) this is a good product, but if you're expecting it to fully emulate the whole interface, save your money and buy E-mount lenses.
Opened a support ticket with Sony and will report the results out to the photo/video community. Look for my posts elsewhere.

Works great, but aperture limitations and noise cause issues using video. AF hunts a lot.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
I use this with the VG20 and NEX 5N. It is great to be able to use quality glass with these units but since the lenses are void of image stabilization it is somewhat of a drawback.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
This adapter, along with NEX-7 works just as well (if not better) than the SLT Alpha 55.
Quick accurate focusing with minimal light loss.
But I have 1 complaint (which some would say is nitpicky, but I say it's important): this adapter adds way too much bulk at the bottom of the camera!
The phase-shift focus sensor and tripod mount are at the bottom of the adapter and they add an unsightly 2cm tall block below the camera.
This is a real shame because the small height is one of the main advantages of NEX system cameras.
If only they had put the focus mechanism on the side rather than the bottom, the added bulk would not have been so out of place....
I'm now considering buying the simpler LA-EA1 adapter without the AF mechanism just because it's smaller.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
I have many adaptors for my NEX-FS100, nikon, canon fd, canon eos, PL, Arri, C, etc... but no one is good as this one. This is a really smart adaptor with Phase Auto Focus and 15 points of focus, and you always know where the autofocus is looking so you can correct your point of view to mantein in focus what you want, it can track focus really easy. I'm really happy with this, now I'll start to change all my lenses for Sony Alpha compatibles.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
For FS100 user that has issue with manfrotto tripod quick release, here is a simple solution, you just need to use the bigger screw to mount the plate at the last screw hole, push the plate all the way to the back, it will be just ok to slide in and out from manfrotto tripod. If you really need to mount it to the front, you will just need to buy some sort of plate and put between the tripod plate and the camera. It raise the FS100 up a bit and it will work fine.yes it add iris control, autofocus, but why autofocus only limit to F3.5? that's very stupid. Hope future firmware to allow faster aperture.compare to all other lens adapter, it worth for the $300, it's not just simple an adapter ring, you will notice it's very complicated design, there is mirror inside, they call it Translucent Mirror Technology. compare to novoflex nikon and Metabones adapter that cost the same range of price, they don't do autofocus at all.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
Impressively fast autofocus. The ability to use all my A mount lenses, including screw drives ones, fully with autofocus is really great. Exposure is very good and I have not yet noticed any artifacts from the pellicle (not translucent) mirror in the light path
Lens release button on the adapter can be a bit hard to get to with some lenses

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
This adapter has transformed my camera into a fast-focusing accurate picture taking machine. I have a cheap 18-200mm sigma zoom lens and the La-ea2 lets this focus as fast as a lens two maybe three times the price. If you have alpha lenses with the old screw drive focus motor this adapter, though loud, will operate the focus ring. For those who buy this adapter I found a great link on youtube on upgrading the firmware for your camera, which you will have to do (the tip is make sure your battery is fully charged). All in all I have fallen in love with my nex-5 once again with this adapter.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
So very, very frustrating with the FS100 for video. If you want the much-touted Phase Detection AF, or any AF for that matter, the camera locks the lens at f/3.5. Really! You have to turn AF off to control the iris, and it's back to 3.5 if you turn AF back on. This after a firmware update! Worthless.
It's a completely different story if you're using a NEX still camera. Here, all controls work in harmony as expected. But if you want video, it's a wild goose chase.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
Able to use good glass with NEX-3 as second camera, with pretty good results. Focus is lightning fast.
A little bulky, but much better than having to buy another large, expensive body.
Allows for second camera setup with smaller space needs.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
It turns your NEX into a beast of a camera. The Added bulk seems awkward at first, but the adapter actually fits in the hands quite nicely. AF is fast and accurate. When you consider the NEX cameras as digital backs, the la-ea2 makes a lot of sense. I can pack a full compliment of AF lenses, as well as Leica M lenses in the same kit. Versatility is aweswome.

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
I wanted to use other sony lenses for my NEX-5 and needed an adapter. I searched online and read tons of reviews. I saw this item on youtube and saw what it could really do, so I purchased it along with a sony 50mm 1.8 lens. The picture quality and how the adapter auto focuses was awesome. It is a bit bulky. It would be nice if it was the size of the LA-EA1, but It really doesn't affect me while taking pictures. Definitly a great buy.

A change in cameras does not mean abandoned lenses when you use the NEX Camera Mount Adapter by Sony.
Minolta, Sony A-mount lenses work well on the NEX-5 and my new NEX-7. . .a brief update of firmware on the NEX-5 was all that was needed there and no changes were necessary with the NEX-7

Comments about Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter:
At first I couldn't get the adapter to consistently work with my 70-200 os hsm for sony. What I found was that through adding a makeshift lens and camera body support to my setup allowed me to achieve consistent results (I have recorded for 10 minutes in a row without problems). The adapter gives you 15-point phase-detection autofocus (much faster and more accurate than the contrast autofocus used with the NEX-VG10, which is useful but always seems to focus on the trees and sky behind a subject). I use a Sign Video XLR-Pro with this box and you have to set it to G2 in order to avoid having the audio go out everytime the device (click) autofocuses. Also, you should use a shotgun (directional) microphone to avoid picking up the camera noise of the autofocusing during movies (which is what I use it for). The E-mount lenses don't suffer from this problem as their autofocus is pretty much dead silent. The Sigma HSM lens I have is actually probably quieter than most (much better in terms of loudness than a screw drive Tamron 70-200 and comparable to a Sony SSM lens). If you are using wireless mics you won't have that problem of course, it's just mics mounted near the camera body. I will probably pick up a Velbon lens splint to brace the body and lens for this long setup. As you can guess I am very excited about this adapter as it gives me the use of a quiet HSM lens, image stabilization, and high speed f2.8, and super accurate autofocus on a NEX camera. I recommend this adapter for the Sigma 17-50 2.8 os hsm and Sigma 70-200 2.8 os hsm as alternatives to the Sony 18-200 E-mount 3.5-6.3 os (it is too slow past about 38mm where the lens is f5--it's fine outdoors or in good light). One thing that isn't so great about the LA-EA2 is that the lens is fixed at 3.5 or the maximum aperture of your lens (if lower than 3.5). This means that if you are shooting outside with the Sigma 70-200 or 17-50 the camera will control the light by regulating shutter speed. If you don't have a 77mm variable ND filter when using these lenses outside, that should be put on your with list. But when shooting outside in bright light, I would use the e-mount 18-200. The LA-EA2 and Sigma 70-200 os hsm combination would be perfect for using in a dimly lit church so that you don't have to pump the gain up past +21db on your NEX-VG10 (+21db is the default, but it starts to get lots of rainbow fringing and noisy at +24 and +27db--the NEX-VG20 has less noise, but a 18-200 3.5-6.3 lens just doesn't look as good in low light as a lens which holds 3.5 throughout the range--I would have said 2.8, but the mirror in the LA-EA2 knocks 2/3rds of a stop off the maximum aperture of this lens--if you use it in manual focus you can get the f2.8). Overall, I would thoroughly recommend the LA-EA2 and urge you to try it in combination with the lenses I mentioned as a situational alternative to the slow e-mount lenses currently on the market.
