The Zenbook UX31E-DH52 Ultrabook 13.3" Notebook Computer from ASUS takes portability to the next level. With a super slim profile of two-thirds of an inch, a weight of less than 3 pounds and 7 hours of battery life, this ASUS notebook was built for ultimate mobility. While thin and lightweight, this ASUS notebook is far from fragile. It has a spun aluminum lid to match its champagne hairline chassis for a solid build and stylish design.
The system is powered by a 1.70GHz Intel Core i5-2557M processor. It also has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 128GB solid state drive, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 technology. This ASUS notebook also features USB 3.0, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0. It allows you to use the latest external storage devices that support the USB 3.0 protocol, without having to add an expansion card. Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) is the installed operating system.

First off, I was a little concerned about the quality control for this laptop, since the online forums had a surprising array of different problems mentioned (though it's always those with problems that are most likely to post).
As it turned out, the first Zenbook I received made a buzzing noise at the normal 60% volume setting, which appears to be caused by certain frequencies making a couple of the keys vibrate and buzz.
Aside from that, the trackpad is definitely a little unresponsive, though I expect future driver updates will solve that problem, as the Sentelic pad seems to be used by other manufacturers and works fine in other applications. Apparently the latest drivers for the other trackpad ASUS used (Elantech?) makes it perform with the best, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Other than that, most things will come down to personal preference. The key travel is short (as you might expect with this style keyboard), but the keyboard seems very well made and has a satisfying feel in my opinion. The front lip is so thin as to be borderline sharp if you happen to rest your hand against it for any length of time. I would also have preferred a real HDMI port (there really isnt any need to taper down to nothing -- thin is thin even without *one side* being just X mm thick) and maybe another USB port.
That being said, the all-metal construction seems superb, and it feels very durable while being fairly light and quite portable. The small things, like the surfaces not showing fingerprints make a big difference, and the styling is very sharp. It's a very attractive and understated laptop.
The screen is quite nice, very high res, quite bright, and in my opinion, decent color/contrast for the segment. The sound is pretty decent for such a thin laptop, though the hype doesn't quite seem justified for the B&O ICEpower; the bass is still very weak, though the mids are crisp.
Lastly, in practice for normal web, music, video, photo, and document tasks the SSD and i5 (in my case) make it very snappy and responsive. The resume is instantaneous, and the battery life seems quite good. Its a pleasure to use, which is really what it is all about. A couple minor tweaks and it would fantastic, as it is, I think it's still very good. I'll be keeping mine..

HiI dd a lot of research into various models before settling on the UX31 DH72 (256GB). I travel and work so the lightness and good battery life made it a good choice; however the reality of this machine leaves me feeling very bitter:Connectivity: Unless you are within eight feet of a router forget it. It is useless and apparently according to Asus is caused by "weak network cards". Not bad for a [$] computer. So as for my work on the go that is not practical.Keyboard: Shockingly bad with keys you have to thump and a cursor that jumps back and forth at random. My girlfriend has a netbook eee pc by Asus and the typing experience is just the same as that; cheap and nasty.I am now unfortunately stuck with this as I bought it in the States and reside in England. It just goes to show you can do all the homework but the proof is in the pudding and this is a pudding of a machine.Take my advice and look elsewhere.

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX31E-DH52 Ultrabook 13.3" Notebook Computer:
This machine is sleek, fast and powerful. I use it mainly for writing and doing some minor statistical and graphic work on the road, the light weight and the long battery life makes traveling a whole lot easier. The integrated Bang & Olufsen speakers, and the high quality and brightness of the screen, brings the music and multimedia experience to new heights. What is possibly most amazing about it, putting its design aside, is how quite it is and how cool it remains even after long hours of working. The only downside, if you can call it that, is the keyboard, it is not backlit, which is becoming the standard in today's new computers.

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX31E-DH52 Ultrabook 13.3" Notebook Computer:
I was a bit apprihensive in making the choice to purchase this particular ultrabook because of the negative feedback it had been getting in regards to the touch pad and keyboard. But for the most part they are fairly usable. I actually like the feeling of the keyboard and it's layout though it does indeed miss keystrokes more often than a standard laptop keyboard. I received the Elan touchpad on mine, (supposedly one of the better ones) and I do find it fairly annoying to use. It's not a major concern for me considering I mainly use a bluetooth mouse with it. There are a couple of things that I'm not thrilled about with it. The chasis is warped so it doesn't sit flat... Pretty major quality check issue! And when I tried to update it from windows 7 home premium to Ultimate alot of the software it came with was seamingly uncompatible. I'm still giving this 4 stars though as it has great battery life, screen brightness, sound and excellent portability and build quality (aside from the warpage to the frame). My advise though would be to wait for the revised UX31A versions to be released if you don't need this right now.

I basically just use this computer for school work and photo managing and basic editing.
The size of it makes it really easy to always have with you. This is the size you actually want if you're actually will have it in your bag daily, basically the size and weight of a book.
For school work I use it for in-class notes, scientific computing and reading.
SSD drive makes it nice and fast to work with and being spontaneous as a student might be...
For editing photos I do find it slow. Consider it a way to store photos and not for editing RAW files.

Asus UX31 runs pretty fast and never get too hot. Great light-weight laptop! Instant on technology is great. Built-in speakers have great sound but don't expect much bass.
The latop has decent screen despite limited viewing angle. I wish it came with a bigger hard drive and a lower price.
B&H does has great price on this laptop

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX31E-DH52 Ultrabook 13.3" Notebook Computer:
This is a great literal "laptop" system, cool, lightweight, silent.... My only criticisms are that the display is not quite high-end; ghosting, and color-fade at all but a very narrow viewing angle. There are better display panels on the market, and for the price of this book, it should be a better quality LCD panel. My other concern is the location of the one fan's inlet: on the bottom left, below the hinge area. It's easily blocked when resting on one's lap, and I find myself offsetting the unit to my right leg only to ensure the vent's not blocked. Luckily, the unit is so light, it rests easily on one leg.

This is a great laptop: no noises, pretty light weight and with an amazing sound quality for its size! Also, it comes with a lot of nice details.
The only thing that I did not like so much is the keyboard, sometimes it is hard-touching... But still it is a great product!

I would buy this product again! I was looking for a lightweight, long battery life, Windows based notebook for travel and this one is definitely it.
I had some concerns with only a 120GB SSD being large enough but no problems. I've installed Office, along with miscellaneous programs for maintenance and security and the OS in about 40GB...so plenty of space left for photos and music.
Delivery was prompt and no problems with the product on receipt.

Purchased to replace a 4 year old 13.5" laptop. Immediately noticed the fast boot-time & long standby times. Very nice keyboard & track pad are much better than some reviewed had lean me to believe. In case you worry about such things the WiFi radio is 2.4 GHz only, there is no higher bandwidth 5 GHz radio in this generation of the Zenbook unfortunately. However, you really won't notice this as an issue if, like me you just use the laptop to stream the occasional HD movie. Overall this is a terrific value laptop and I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX31E-DH52 Ultrabook 13.3" Notebook Computer:
I wanted a small, powerful laptop at a price that undercuts the macbook air. I got that in the Asus UX31.
I travel and wanted something light weight. I wanted the ability to stream 1080p video to my tv via hdmi.
I wanted a fully featured machine with USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 4.0. I got all that in this little powerhosue.
I am pleasantly surprised at the ASUS "bloatware" that shipped with the computer. I actually use most of it. I love the facial recognition login actually works. The preset performance profiles that conserve battery are useful too. I am also surprised at the sound quality that comes out of the speaker.
If I could change one thing, I'd ask for better software for the mouse trackpad. I had to turn most of the features (zooming, tap to click) off to get it to work smoothly.

My only issue that I will get used to in time, is the side by side power and delete keys. Have reached for the delete and ended up in the power down selecion on several occassions.
