I love being able to wedge these things between walls and rig up lights overhead, or whatever you might need. I keep one in my living room full time to mount a projector. Pair them with a couple of super clamps, and no more worries about tripping over light stands and cables.

Sturdy, professional poles replace permanent lighting mounts or grids

Short and sweet: These units are very well made and feel solid as a post that's bolted into the floor & ceiling -- certainly sturdy enough to hold a couple lights or other accessories without budging. We used a T-handle super clamp from Impact to create a side mount for a Godox LED unit on each. (Remember with the super clamp you have to take out the diagonal insert - meant for square poles/surfaces - before it will grip a round pipe like the Varipole. Once unwrapped the install is easy. You release the pressure lever with a simple little spring mounted catch, releasing the lever. Once the lever is extended, the top (internal) pole in the unit slides freely up and down. Once in place -- remember to glance at the Varipole from the front and side to ensure it's perpendicular to the ceiling -- you just slide the upper pole section up to a firm position against the ceiling, then lower the lever until it clicks in place. You'll likely hear a slight tension or cracking noise as the top foot of the Varipole is jacked up into a firm gripping position. (If you notice after install that the pole isn't perfectly straight, it's easy to carefully release the the lever, gently lower the upper pole just slightly, adjust the pole angle and re-engaged the lever and lever catch. Great product quality for the price and much less destructive, affordable solution (that allows for easy repositioning of lights) than a permanent grid or wall mount.
